"That guy" who buzzed last is famous Russian billionaire composer Igor Krutoy who collaborates with Dimash, and often accompanies on piano (ie: Love Is Like A Dream, Mademoiselle Hyde, ++) He composed Ogni Pietra specifically for Dimash. He was waiting so as not to disturb Diana's performance. After hearing her sing Rechenka the year before when she was 14, he was so impressed that he bought an apartment in Moscow for her family in order that she might study music at university.

No delay, no effects, nothing but her. Igor Kurtoy refused to interrupt her to hit his button. He is a titan of Russian pop music. You need to understand her story. Abused by her birth mother, left abandoned with a fractured clavicle and no ability to speak in a train station in winter at under age 5, she was brought to an orphanage, and later adopted by one of the people who worked there. Her rendition of Rechenka at age 14 is mind-blowing, since she is a natural contralto- with the ability to sing multiphonic and polyphonic, to yodel, glissando and use vibrato and move even to falsetto- range is like from d flat 3 to b flat 5. Truth is, you've never heard this kind of voice in your life, because it does not exist outside of her. She is unique, likely the youngest contralto on the planet (when she was 14). One of the most successful composers ever (supposedly worth Billions). He funded an apartment for Diana so she could move to Moscow. RECHENKA!

Diana’s story is a bit of like Cinderella’s :) They say she was abused in her toddler years and was found on the streets of Russia with a broken arm and sent to an orphanage. A worker at the orphanage fell in love with her and adopted her. She had a speech problem, so her new mom sent her to voice/singing lessons at a very young age to help her.

Rechenka (river) is about an orphan who is being given away in marriage to the unloved, and comes to the river, border between the living and the dead, to ask blessings from her deceased mother. Even more poignant is Diana's story. She was abused, beaten, and nearly killed by her birth mother, thrown out into the street in winter with a broken collarbone at 3yrs old. Speechless when brought to an orphanage, she learned to sing as speech therapy and was adopted. The orchestra did not take part in this show, instead, pre-recorded music was used. But all the contestants sang live. Diana always sings live (there are many such videos on her KZbin channel). She has a rare contralto voice and has an amazing command of various vocal techniques. This is a unique young singer. Such voices and artistry are rare. She was able to overcome the consequences of a terrible childhood and she is a kind, positive person.

The judge who was slow to push his button was Igor Krutoi, a very famous songwriter, composer and music producer in Russia. He was already familiar with Diana from her first appearances on the show during the previous (2018) season, and quickly became one of her strongest admirers and supporters. Why then did he hesitate so long in pushing his button during this song? He said in an interview later that he was waiting for a pause in her performance because he did not want to distract her or “throw her off” while she was singing. Igor Krutoi is an incredible talent - a “musical genius” in his own right - and he has done wonderful things to help Diana’s development as a rising star over the past few years. I always laugh when I hear or read comments criticizing him for being ‘slow’ to recognize Diana’s rare talent, when the truth is the exact opposite!

Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone on the street and shortly afterwards took the 3-year-old girl to an orphanage. Finally there she found love ... from Irina Ponik. Taking a little child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, the daughter 17 years old ... Start all over now? Yes!!! Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old. Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started ... During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions. Diana's mother became her daughter's manager. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 her family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her. Diana's voice, her perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a little girl and so she impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win. In 2017 she went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. So, she could start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy (She died of Covid-19 in October 2020). The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 to D6. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity. She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically. He is a famous Russian composer that plays a very large role in Dimashs career. He first heard Dimash sing Sinful Passion and came out of retirement to work with him. He also works with Diana. Diana is 15 years old here. I started watching your channel originally because of Dimash. You know, Dimash is a fan of Diana's. He recommended listening to her to his fans a while back. Enjoy your channel, even when the sarcasm becomes more important than the music...but I digress. I've actually come to enjoy your wit. You should explore a few more of her songs. She's amazing. Rechenka is some brilliant neo-tribal Russian folk fusion. She sings in multiple languages like French, English, Russian, Spanish and Arabic. Igor Krutoy was the last guy to hit his buzzer. He later stated he was waiting for a break so he wouldn't interrupt her song. Igor wrote Ogni Pietra and works with Dimash. You've probably seen him on the piano in some songs.

Nope🙂 No delay. It's diana's resonance along with her harmonics. Then add in the polyphonics... She has been working on splitting with her voice. Some people has said "she is an Alien". A good reaction to the most unique vocalist in the world. "Rechenka" (14 yrs old) is her most Awesome performance from the year before. She won "You are Super" twice; 2nd time was a contest between all the finalists from the previous years.

She was 15 here. She has the rare, dramatic contralto female voice that I find addicting and unforgettable. I think you're hooked already. Here are three reasons why Diana doesn't sound human. First, she is a dramatic contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. It is a gift from God, and others have called it the Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. @@Jfre2 LOL, you're right! My first shrine was to Jimi Hendrix when I was a kid. I've built many shrines over the years, most recently to Loreena McKennitt. But now Diana Ankudinova is very shrine-worthy to me. My shrine to Loreena lasted 15 years. As far as I can tell, Diana is the total package right now and she is getting better every day! With the exception of Jimi, I've never witnessed anybody more shrine-worthy than Diana. So, yeah, you're spot on.

Excellent explanation. Thank you. Dianas shrine are the goosebumps I get every time, but at newer productions I'm missing the extreme manipulation of her larynx she has shown on this show. It's this effect I can't get tired of. So the more I fear she's losing it.

@@wonderfalg Diana hasn't lost anything. These days she is working very hard on different aspects of her voice, especially her upper register. Also, the voice coach she's had all her life died recently. Diana wrote the song Happiness in memory of her dead vocal coach. Also, she's still only 17. It will take another 10 years or so for her voice to fully develop. She's enrolled at university now and is training her voice every day. And she is a HARD WORKER. There aren't many people who work as hard as Diana. (more below) And I agree with you that songs like Havana don't hit you like a truck the way a song like Human does. I promise you that she can still sing the way that gives you (and most everybody else) goosebumps. But she is learning and growing and training her voice every day. She definitely has a plan and there's no doubt in my mind that she and her teachers know what they're doing.

It's a live sound. As Diana sings, so it sounds. Diana has an amazing singing technique-polyphony. It can make several sounds at the same time. Hence, there is an opinion that there is an overlay of audio tracks. But this, as I said before, is a live sound. This technique of singing is possessed by the peoples of the North and the Far East of Russia, where Diana comes from.

I don't think that any effect was added, exactly. The presenter always brags about the great sound of the hall. My guess is that they have ambiance microphones; to capture the hall sound.
