The bass player is Michael League. He was the composer of most of the tracks on this album

The next step in your Snarky Puppy journey should be "Something" with Lala Hathaway. It is one that you will never forget, mind blowing vocals. Might even be more impressive than Lingus.

maan... I used to do that "double voice" thing all the time when I was younger. I used to do that singing songs, or when I was pretending I was singing live, I did it to sound like a bunch of people like when everyone screams together in a concert idk. hahaha Some people always told me it was annoying so I eventually stopped doing it. Ever since I heard that song I tried to do it again but I can't remember how to do it no matter what. 😅

Oh no song requests sold out 😢 wanted to request Trinity with Snarky Puppy from the new album Empire. The extended version video. But ah I guess the opportunity will come again :) The setup is like this but more regarding people like 3 drummers and 2 percussionists.
@musikbyjh13 күн бұрын
Hey @Trinodia!!! Sorry about that, we are booked through the end of Feb and are going to take a pause on sponsored requests to focus on some of the music we want to cover (we've prioritized sponsored songs over the past nearly two years and want to switch things up!). Don't you worry, Snarky Puppy is 100% on our list - and we'll add "Trinity" to the lineup. THANK YOU!!
@Trinodia13 күн бұрын
@musikbyjh no worries. Totally understand 😀 Had to listen to Trinity again myself and I was wrong. That setting has 3 percussionists and drummers. I have more songs on We like it here album tho that i like than on the Empire Central but I might just have to listen to it more. Will be fun seeing your reaction to more Snarky Puppy and what other groups you have on your own list. I'm probably more curious about those :)

Three kit drummers and three percussionists. And from hints I've seen of the rehearsals for their next album, that one's going to have four kit drummers.

If you like the percussion, check out their side project Ghost-Note. The drums are the star in that band

Hell yes if you do a live I'll join! I might be the only one but I'll be able to geek out on both the music and the engineering with all three of you lol

ironically, if you wanted to be there for a live recording session, you missed it by mere days. But I can assure you they are every bit as amazing live.

Oooohhh man!!!! I just rushed to go see what they’re up to…and damn. JUST missed it. But then again, it was all the way in the Netherlands. We normally can travel for special events, but we would have had to know about that one WELL in advance. Dammit! Hopefully they do one in the States soon!

I follow Bob Reynolds (sax) -- they just finished recording the new album in Germany with an orchestra, same kind of set up - but bigger... According to Bob, no charts - they learn the songs over a few days of rehearsal, and hit record.

@@musikbyjhI can see the joy on Matt’s face when you hand him the horn!! You’re all a bunch of grown-up kids when you listen to most of the music you hear! I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I think I heard they've started rehearsals for a new alum. I wonder if there's info on their website about attending the recording. Their last album had a life audience as well, recorded over a few nights.

This is the sort of quality content that unfortunately does not generate many views. Put me down as subscribed, though. I note that the requests are filled up, so here is a gift to Drummer Matt: A similar fusion "collective" from Norway having worked for over 30 years known as "Jaga Jazzist". Since all are professional session musicians, classical musicians, composers for movies, TV shows, theatre and modern ballet (etc.) they hardly ever tour (they will play concerts but mostly on invitation for the largest jazz festivals in the world that can afford them). You will not find them on any hit lists, but you will find their albums shortlisted for "best of the year" for those who are into these kinds of things - perhaps wanting to mix it up with something slightly edgier feel than the oh-so-smooth Snarky Puppy. A good place to start is with "Oban" live at Oslo Sessions (entire albums and professionally recorded live concerts can also be found on YT - and mind you - when they play live it is regarded as an international event for a whole lot of people (I got to see them thrice)

@ I will look forward for the reaction. For more popular songs I recommend reacting to Bad Romance, Despacito or Shape of you. My favoutites are Je Suis Malade and Scarborough Fair which will literally take you to experience heaven🤗. They also covered Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody which is also worth listening to. I really hope you will do more reactions to Forestella since they are so underrated. Thank you, love your reactions!!💜

It's a pretty short one, about half an hour, and will make you appreciate what's happening here tenfolds. I have SO much respect for these musicians, convinced they're not from planet earth. And long time no see guys!!! Happy new year, thank you for all the fun reactions lately (and the lovely email Jillian, sorry I haven't gotten back to you❤) Matt, just love how you dive in head first when it comes to music, sounds a bit familiar I must say. @musikbyjh You guys are the absolute sweetest, I appreciate the love and concern for my wellbeing. Seriously ❤️ No wonder the email returned to sender because I actually had to delete that email address so I started using another account. Sorry about that! But yeah, I'm doing fairly good. Hope that you guys are all doing well. Looking forward to the DL livestream tomorrow, even though it will be 1AM here in Norway (now you know!), but it's never too late for some Dirty Loooops, right?! Much love ❤️🔥
