I'm one of those that has consistently touched and messed with my moustache. It stays off my lips (as the woman I am with likes it). The sides blend (amazingly) with my goatee (which I had when I met her) /beard which I have now. My only advice is training it, which I unintentionally did, but worked out for me. Your skin has natural oils, and massaging it from root to tip helps spread said oils. It is natural for a man to touch his facial hair, so that it is where it is supposed to be (as long as your hands are clean). I honestly don't know if this is good or bad beard advice, but this is what I've done instinctually. This is just what I've done, and you may not have the same results. I have thin to medium hair (both on my head and in regard to my beard. Both are stick straight, with a slight curl to the end) One of these days I'll send in pics of what I look like, but don't hold your breath. It would definitely be to the live stream for advice for styling, as I've never had any professional advice in that department. So, full disclosure given. I do not claim to be wiser, or more learned (in any way, shape, or form) than this man. This is just my personal experience.

I like using a white pice of paper under the starch to help me with the trim. It makes it easier not to trim to much and keep it more even. However don’t try to make it symmetrical you will end up trimming too much! Start with small cuts, you can always cut more!

Hi there Dan. My profile picture which you see is a picture I took of myself before making this comment. With that out of the way, I only have a stubble at the moment, but when I have just stubble, I just put beard oil on and I use a boar bristle brush to slowly brush the oil into the skin. Thats my routine for what I have now. I also prefer to wash my beard every Monday just once a week. When I have a full short to puffy beard, the process is the same, except that I use a comb, and as it gets thicker, I use a comb with wider teeth. The beard I am growing now is my second beard.

Great video, great stach, great job. Not sure if you still trim your stach this way, but I learned a few things. Mainly how to trim the long ends on an angle. Recently trimmed mine too straight. Sill looks ok but Thanks as usual.

Love the cleaner look. Great job. I picked up a pair of Hitopty precision scissors off Amazon that are smaller. Gives you more maneuverability in tight quarters. It’s also great for trimming those underneath hairs close to your lip without catching any on the top layer that you are trying to keep.

Yeah, my stache is sorely in need of attention. I think I'll break it down into a three day trim just like I do with my beard. I also have those errant long stache hairs that are way longer than the rest. I'm going to use my mustache comb to help separate the stache from the beard and cut the long loners as step day one. Man, I become so nervous when cutting implements are around my beard. It is, indeed, stressful.

Yes i usually keep the hair that i'm proud of when i do trim, since i have dark hair i always keep my beard hair that has different color sometime red or light blonde, and i have tips actually it's from you when you trim your beard breakage you use paper, also use paper when i trim my moustache to differentiate it from my beard, but anyway, i like your videos Dan 👍

Hello sir. Awesome video as always. You have inspired me to start saving my beard despite my bad beard growth. I'm in month 4 now and have thoughts about the mustache. I have always cut down my mustache, but I am now thinking about starting to save it because I think it looks better. But I think it is very difficult with a long mustache that is always in the way. How do you avoid getting a lot of food in your mustache when it is long? What are the pros and cons of long and short mustaches? Do you always wash your mustache after eating? Do not the oils disappear when you have to wash so often?

Unfortunately, it sounds like generics. Try getting some castor oil directly on the mustache skin before bed
