I heard this first at a CD shop in Kuala Lumpur more than 15 years ago. I burst out crying...it was sheer joy. This is the first song on the album called Andavan, Athma, Aanmigam. Exquisite arrangement, and powerhouse vocals from Sreenivas and Nityashree Mahadevan. The entire album is a high-fidelity soundfest, and this song is certainly a highlight. I think Arunagirinathar would be heartened to see his verses thrive in the 21st century.

This album was a bigger hit in Malaysia and Singapore than India at that time. I still remember very clearly. I still have the CD. Word is they sd a million copies in Malaysia alone. The distributor is my friend so he disclosed this information to me. This was during Thaipusam time.
