Couple things I forgot - the bike has had a piston kit in it, the oil system revisions that came on I think 2009 and later bikes done, and I did the valves once -- just sanding down the shims I had a few thousandths to spec. I'd like a cush drive on it, but that's an expensive part -- I kinda don't like putting a bunch of money into farkle and stuff I probably don't need when I only paid $4k for the thing anyway.
All told, I could have probably spent a bit more money and got a bit newer/nicer bike with lower hours. But I have enjoyed working on it, so needing to do stuff has been a useful learning experience, and the parts are cheap, so I don't have a ton of money in it like I might have on a BMW.
And this bike will go anywhere - it's a beast.

I have the same tank on my 530. Seems that the petcocks are quite a bit lower than the fuel inlet on the carb. Gas will not flow below below that level. Have you noticed that? What did you do to fix? thx

Do you still have this bike? How are ypu finding it for reliability etc? I've had one for a few months and I totally love it, I've started turning it into a lightweight adv bike too

Someone put a cross-over ''T'' on the tank to drain both sides! I thought I was the only one who noticed it leaves around 40 OZ of gas trapped if you don't! I have an 08 450 with the 3.4 Acerbis and this tank too and I always put a ''T'' on them. One Petcock on the left side.
