My 2017 Goals: 1: Complete my second marathon. Last year it was roadmarathon Copenhagen. This year I go trail at Thy Trail Marathon 2: Continue learning guitar which I started learning online in 2016. It is fun, and keeps my head in shape. 3: Read more books (which I suceeded in 2016) 4: Have a more continous and stable training routine (had ups and downs in 2016 and struggled after the marathon) 5: Do some kind of hike with backpack, sleeping in shelter 6: Care even less about other peoples opinion about my life and training routines 7: Spend more time with my friends IRL 8: Spend less time at social media (didn't quite succeed with that in 2016) Happy New Year Ethan and Kim and thanks for your inspiring channels. They make a difference :-)

Niels Vejsgaard I think my first marathon would be flat trail. Somehow easier for me mentally to soak up the miles off road. Good luck on your 2nd marathon.

tubesockets120v Sounds like a good plan. The reason I chose Copenhagen (the capitol in Denmark), was that a couple of running buddies invited me. It was a nice experience because of the very interested spectators, who cheered us all the time. Have a nice time with your project :-)

Hey Ginger. Great goals. We have a couple of the same ones I see. Number one, stay healthy. Of course, thats gotta be a priority. You know that saying if you dont have your health you dont have anything. We have four kids so to get anything done have to stay healthy and be fit! Also consistency. The older I get the more it strikes me that consistency iis key. Really, for any goal. Isnt it? Lose weight? Consistent eating right and exercise usually plays a role. Run a race or a new pr? Consistent training. Keep organized at home? Consistent systems. Learn a new skill or art? Consistent practice or study. Harmonious relationships? Consistency in treating others well. Create a successful business? Consistency. So thats one if my goals as well. Main running goal this year- big sur marathon in April! We are lucky enough to be registered this year. Just got back from a six miler and saw your video. Gotta get out there and be consistent in my training to make this happen. Woo!

I just started running a little over a month ago, and I found this channel and it has really inspired me! My goals as a beginner are to run two 5Ks and stay consistent and disciplined in my running. I want to get in my best shape as the year continues and be able to run faster and longer distances. I know this is a New Year's video, but why not start the year over and crush it!

Fantastic video! As a moderate but not complete follower for the last 3 years I must congratulate you on your achievements thus far. The quality of your work, specifically the video, narrative, content is on point consistently. I must admit, seeing you (and Kim) complete individual goals is almost as significant as all of your other "business" related initiatives (although your movies rock, soundtracks included). To run is paramount in my life. To see others that embrace this simple yet potentially injury prone activity and achieve their goals is magnificent. Your dedication and running knowledge about the community is unbelievable. I wish you and Kim the best in the new year. Please continue to meet the high standards you have set for yourself. I look forward to purchasing another Ginger Runner inspired buff! Best for you and Kim in 2017, Kurt

Best wishes going for the BQ, it has a lot more to do with it than luck. I run lots of shorter races and last year I was able to step up to the Marathon and BQ. Being a masters runner (40+ years old) helps as the time gets easier to reach. I think the shorter faster races help with the Marathon. This year I am going for my first 50k, it will be a long day in the woods and that is ok.

Inspiring and Beautiful video as always Ethan! I have found that setting new year goals that are spesific and within ones reach is very important. Last year for instance, my friend said his goal was to pickle some veggies, mine were to start playing basketball from time to time. Both goals were, needless to say, reached. This year I will complete a photo album and improve my time on a 3000m run. Did a horrific test run right after christmas to set the bar, and i feel confident that i should beat 15min. That, or retire from running :)

Going beyond 70k for the first time next Saturday with the Country to Capital 45 mile trail race here in the UK. It will be cold - I just hope it's cold and dry. My goals for this year are to take a break from the long distance running for a bit; to get back to more middle distance events like 10k and half-marathons and up the speed; to get back on the bike and complete the Coast 2 Coast in a day this summer (Yes, England is so small you can ride from east to west coasts on a bike in one day).

Thanks for sharing your goals, very interesting. I too struggle with a "pizza problem" and carbs in general. Have been opting for lower GI foods recently, which has definitely helped. I guess nutrition for a leisure runner like myself who runs 4-6 miles will be quite different to your needs, but would be really grateful for general guidelines on diet and nutrition. Good luck with your move :-) I've been watching the excellent Hoka Top Trails films recently. Portland, Eugene and Bellingham all looked like fantastic places for a serious runner to be based :-)
