Thank you for the video! I also had (or still have) 2 of 3 issues you've mentioned. Nice way IMHO to stretch or train flexibility is yoga if you don't mind spend 30 min. - 1 h. 2-3 days a week in your days off. Ashtanga yoga, which is my favourite, is a good cardio too and has well-defined progression as well. I did it for 2 years even before calisthenics and it felt great! Now I am slowly starting to do it again. One the best tutorials I know is David Swenson's "First series". Cheers! P.S.: I'm still calisthenics noob though)

This past month ive gotten to where i can hold an l sit for 15 seconds, do 25 body weight dips.....i still cannot do an l sit dip, ....my pull ups have never been great, im at 4 , but solid form....thats where im gonna concentrate on....ahh...frogstand....all of these are on my dip station, my new mini dip station, or parallettes.....this really allows you to engage your forearms....doing them on the floor, is ALOT more difficult.....im really getting into it.... Great video....👍👍

Thanks for the sharing man. It's genuine and resonating. Totally agree on the importance of the fundamentals. Something to reciprocate: 1. I would add shoulder joints into on top of wrists and elbow you mentioned as part that takes long time for the ligaments and tendon to catch up with muscle strength development. It's complex with many elements, and they're recruited in high frequency in calisthenics. Think about when you are NOT straining shoulder. 2. Something related to the hasty-minded point: Know you goal and know you can't have all aspect at its peak performance all the time. As I accumulate knowledge and experiences along the way, I got lost in what to focus. I wanted to master all the moves, while maintaining the conditioning. There's just too much, especially when we have other things in life shouting for attention. So, I think set a clear goal at a time, and progress to it. You mind will be in peace and you can focus to get quality training result. 3. Less confident about this, but I will just share my experiential based opinion: All the investment count, in long run. I found the move-targeted training will be remembered by your body and complement other skills and moves indirectly in other time, even when I was not focus on that move anymore. So, it's not like you will lose a move totally once you stop practice it. Hope it helps. Cheers.

This is really GOLD! I've started with calisthenics 1 year ago and now I'm facing exactly the same things you've mentioned in your video. People practicing calisthenics should also teach others about the importance of flexibility and mobility. Beginners are mostly impressed with by those FL, MU, HSPU etc. Learning the basics and mastering them is, I think, the key to success.

This video here is hands down the best advice I ever got regarding my progress in Calisthenics. Injuries, pain and total frustration hit me many times just because I didn't have the patience to progress slowly and correctly. Flexing? I wasn't even aware of how my stiffness held me back. A proper warm-up? I didn't even care because I wanted to jump in on doing my max reps of wide grip pull ups. Well.. To hell with rushing it. Now I never do a single pull up without warming up first. Master the basic exercises, respect quality over quantity, stay humble and be consistent if you want to progress freely in your Calisthenics journey. Thanks for this video bro, you really opened my eyes when I first watched it. I owe you one.

This material is very helpful. My first mistake was rushing into dips before my shoulder joints were ready. I injured my rotator cups. I've read it's a common thing with calisthenics as people do not fully understand the chains of movement and while their biceps/triceps seem strong there are also joint connections and tendons that also need to be prepared for higher loads and it takes much longer for these parts to accommodate. Would you be willing to say more about this in your videos?
