The landyachtz ultra carve tugboat is for sure one of my fave mini cruisers! The dinghy was my first ever board, so it holds a special place in my heart, i still love it but after i got my tugboat it really opened up my eyes to all the different/ better possibilitys for mini cruisers. I love the amount of room the tugboat has with out sacrificing compactability or manuverability. I also love the bear gen 6 RKP's. Swapped out the hawgs wheels for some powell snakes tho and it made a world of difference, the snakes are just so good. My other favorite cruisers tho are boards i have hand picked the parts of, and i like them much better then my tugboat, tho the tugboats my favorite complete. I love old school style decks, especialy santa cruz. I have a winkowski and cory o brien reissue deck, and they both work great as cruisers. Old school decks feel great with both RKP or TKP trucks and any wheels really, tho they can get a bit heavy with big wheels. My favorite cruiser wheels so far have to be powell snakes and santa cruz slime balls. Someday i would love to get some of the powell peralta reissue decks, as they look great for cruising, and i hope i can get the comet cruiser someday cuz it looks like so much fun!

Nice selection, all 3 of those are top notch boards and good wheelbase variation! For me, to get the most versatility if I had to choose 3 cruisers, I couldn't.....bare minimum it would have to be 4. My first most factor would similarly be covering the wheebase spectrum the best I could, and each deck would have wheelbase adjustment holes to allow a 2-4" wheelbase adjustment. So I'd have a Mini cruiser 24" deck that can go from a 13" to 15" wheelbase, a mid size 30" deck with a 18-20" WB, a longboard 42" deck with a 27-31" WB, and finally a 65" deck with a 42-46" WB. I don't ollie or do tricks, and strictly carve and cruise, but I find I prefer having a mild kicktail on all my boards so that I can lift the nose for quick 180 turns on the rear wheels as well as doing manuals. I've recently discovered 40" kicktail cruiser decks, and the shape I like best is a blank ebay deck that is essentially a 40x9.75 Pintail deck with a little bit wider and rounder kicktail than youur standard pintail. I set it up with a Meraki on the front, 4" hangers, 90mm wheels and its currently my most fun board to ride.

Got a LY raft which is a 9.9 inch wide deck with 130mm bear trucks and 63mm fatty hawgs. It’s interesting to have such a wide deck with fairly narrow trucks. The _Comet_ reminded me of my preferred commuting cruiser, an early 70's MPI 28" by 6.5" deck with a rocker. I equipped it with generous space pads and appropriatly narrow _Indy Stage 11's_ with T-hangers to look "in-period" as well as some generic 78a 60mm cruiser wheels - and people back then knew what they were doing, no doubt about that: I grew up riding popsicle boards and in recent years cruisers and surfskates have become part of my quiver as well - but when I'm not specifically out to ride a miniramp or surfskate and rather need something to commute it's my ride of choice because if your trucks are sufficiently narrow you can actually pump such small boards quite well and I'm not at all surprised anymore that surfers in the 60's and 70's ended up with this particular type of setup because it's dynamic yet stable, a decent distance cruising setup while being aggressive enough to allow for what eventually would lead to skateboarding as we know it (and the idea of skating a bowl with a setup like this made me appreciate the insane leap the Dogtown Crew made for skateboarding as such even more) as well as being insane fun downhill because the narrow trucks and short wheelbase are making it react so quickly - while thanks to its compact size it's not nearly as unwieldy as my 32.5" by 10" surfskate for instance and in fact small enough to just forget it's there when strapped to the backpack, just the perfect "everyday city board" for me. I love that you came to a very similar conclusion about a very similar board which turned out to be a surprisingly great allrounder - it just shows that it's worth it to challenge one's own preferences

@@concrete-waves Thanks! It just occured to me that Swelltech is implementing such an approach with their surfskates as well with a commonly wide back truck and a narrower front truck because this way the wheels have to cover a shorter distance on their curve vector around the kingpin (don't know how to describe it better) in order to achieve the same angle of attack as with a wider truck and hence being more "aggressive". Could be an interesting experiment to put a standard RKP truck to my back Waterborne adapter and one of my 4" Indy's at the front adapter - maybe it's worth to have a narrow truck laying around in general to experiment with adapter setups.. Ever heard of _Bangfish_ RKP trucks? These things are utterly over-engineered with a suspension system, adjustable wheelbite stoppers as well as a small lever to switch the kingpin angle between 48°, 50° or 52° with two fingers on the fly. For their original price they had been a little gimmicky for me, but appearently the project has failed so when a local shop/distributor offered them for a mere 10 bucks a piece I couldn't resist to try them. I put them at my only suitable deck at the time, a YOW _Snappers_ - and ended up pretty amazed because the weird suspension offeres exactly the right amount of rebound to make it what essencially amounts to an alternative surfskate system, especially with the front truck set to 52° and the back truck to 48°. It's actually a pretty nice product for someone looking for a very carvey board which can get pumped almost if not just as good as some dedicated surfskate systems while being just as stable as a regular DH RKP truck at the same time, pushing just as stable as a regular cruiser/longboard while being as low to the ground as non-surfskate setup. If _Bangfish_ had come up a little later and marketed differently to take advantage of the surfskate boom rather than marketing towards downhill and freeride riders who are rather conservative in regards of equipment with good reasons not to change the two most reliable established designs (TKP/RKP) for decades when it comes to going downhill with 70mph then _Bangfish_ could still be around and a great place to start with or to be more versatile with a setup. You can still find _Bangfish_ trucks for 10 bucks/piece online and I can imagine you having quite some fun experimenting - just in case you are interested in trying a curiosity once in a while which these trucks certainly qualify as.. However, I'm overtly enthusiastic and hence way too verbose because I just returned from a great surfskate session and my ND brain gets obsessed with stuff way too quickly.. 😅 Have a great weekend and amazing sessions! 🤜🤛

Not really a cruiser in the traditional sense but Loaded Omakase. Palm graphic, complete in all around package. I've mounted the trucks in the shortest possible wheelbase configuration and I absolutely love the thing. People say it's heavy, and sure - it is in comparison to others but just the other day I've done 20 miles of pushing on it and had no issues whatsoever. It can carve really well (almost surfskate like with the right setup because of that height), it's also stable enough at the same time and if you go a bit fast and need a speed check - you still can. It's tall and can get through anything and drop from any kerb with ease. I love the extra width. It just ticks all my boxes.

I'm 6'2". On a 30" deck I feel pretty crowded unless the front truck is weirdly mounted forward like it is on something like the Globe Sun City with an 18" wheelbase. For me, something around 33" long, 10" wide, and with a 16-18" wheelbase would give me that room to feel like I dont have to scrunch up, but a small enough wheelbase to carve. It's hard to find a good board like that. They've got the dirt cheap Moose old school decks, but quality seems to be questionable. The Texican guy will make some customs. Alva sells a Metallic Rocker that looks promising. But, I might have to turn to some surfskate boards to get get those sizes. The 33-34" hybrids between cruisers and longboards seems to be one of the least developed markets, and one of the best choices for taller adults.

@@concrete-waves The 29" Z-flex with wedges out front and back with 66mm Hamboard wheels the black oak veneer (Ruins to Roses) one would be the last board in my quiver if I had a gun to my head. The Oak just lasts like on no other board staving off razor tail even after years of cruising and has kept it from weathering and the subdued classic look just blends in. Trucks are actually great. Hamboards wheels were a total surprise I only bought them as cheapest big wheels when strapped but they might be better than the snakes. They impressed me so I even added 'Sanyo' bearings which were the company site said worked well for their wheels/boards. A touch slower they aren't as slippy over rain, mud, leaf litter and deal with nasty surprises better. I fall / slip out semi regularly on other boards and wheels same lines and routes. Might have started as caution as I had a "cheap" view of the wheels but I have pushed them to my max level and they haven't let me down but knowing the game it is probs just some mental thing. There is a 'magic' to certain combos that parts and colour match or parts and colour clash in some sort of way or feel that makes it work better for a certain rider I can't put a finger on. Sounds like some skater astrology BS but I swear it. Hell I use other boards, wheels, bearings WAY more but we all have that one set up that speaks to where we at

I've got the Blazer XL at 36.25" x 9.75" x 21.5" wheelbase. It was my fist hybrid cruiser/longboard and first board ever. Got it for $39.99 shipped to my door. Wicked. The Big Blazer would carver better and allow you to get on the kick, but the Blazer XL is cool too, beacuase it allows an unusally wide stance that is fun. Very good for learning on.

Awesome! I actually tried the Original Apex back in the day. My friend bought one and it was crazy. Fun fact - the original trucks were actually made for scooters back in the day and then original used them for their longboards

Cruiser boards don’t make sense to me. What does a cruiser do that you don’t get on a freestyle, street or long board? I kind of get penny boards because they are small and light weight so you can stick them in a back pack and skate between bus stops or whatever. They’re sort of the Martin Backpacker of skateboards. The cruiser concept just baffles me. The decks just don’t seem different enough to need to exist and in the difference they have they just lose the functionality of their closest counterpart. The smaller ones are like weirdly shaped freestyle decks and the big ones remind me of the fatty shape boards of the 80’s. Why not just go with a freestyle or popsicle deck and set it up for rough pavement or get a full-size long board? Truly interested in responses. I’m not hating and at the end of the day if you like skating a plank of wood on some roller skate wheels that’s awesome. I just find this concept truly baffling.

It’s appealing to me because I’m interested in a hybrid between my longboard and skateboard, in general I feel like I prefer the feel of my skate deck but because I skate on campus I’d like to have larger softer wheels. The cruiser shape is larger so I can comfortable use longboard wheels with spacers while still having the small footprint of a street deck. That’s at least why I want one. I don’t think it’s made for hard core skaters or people who do downhill, it’s more of a good daily driver for people who want to do a little bit of both or commute.
