It's a GAME CHANGER to have a supportive spouse! When I was playing MSFS, my wife asked me when I was going to start getting my actual pilot's license. I laughed and said how expensive the whole thing is. She paused for a second and said, "Well, the kids are going to be out of the house soon - scattered to the wind. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to go see them whenever we'd like? I think it'd be a great thing to have." Once I finally picked up my jaw from the floor, I started looking at flight schools and enrolled in an online ground school. Then, after the kids were launched, we downsized the house, moved to a town with lower cost of living (mainly to be closer to my aging mother-in-law), and reduce expenses. Now we're making it a reality (thanks to a great local Part 141 school).

This is such an awesome story! I love hearing these types of stories from brothers like you, whose spouses just completely knocked them out of their chairs. Thank you so much for sharing Brother. This is so awesome. Definitely stop back by and let me know how the training is going once you commit. Take care, and again thank you for sharing with the community.

That is definitely the truth for sure. I am an extremely blessed man to have my wife support this whole journey. I’m just glad that she enjoys it as well. Not sure about sun and fun yet. Definitely want to do it. If not this year, definitely next, Lord willing.

In my aviation career, while supportive my wife was also the court of appeals. Her gift of discernment kept me from making some poor decisions. On those where I just charged ahead without consultation, I chose poorly. Good job you two.

I have only discovered your channel recently but I can see that your love of God, family, and aviation is keeping you happy and motivated. The fact that your wife is overcoming her fear of flying is a testament to her watching you and the conscientious approach you have to the pre-flight and maintenance of your aircraft. Anyone observing your attention to detail and surrounding your maintenance with experienced and qualified pros is something all passengers would hope for. This is especially true when inviting your wife and daughter along. Those precautions could mean a lot down the line. God bless.

First, I think you so much for your support of the channel. It really means a lot to me. Second, I think you so much for taking the time to write and send this amazing comment. These are the types of comments that really provide fuel for my fire. I am so blessed that the good Lord put this before me, because I get to interact with wonderful people like yourself. Again, thank you so much for showing Brother, such love, and support. Take care, and God bless!

Hey brother, Frankie, keep pushing through the journey. I’m telling you, it is so worth it. When you take your wife out for the first time, she may be scared, but I tell you when she gets bit by the joy of flying, all the agony and pain to experience on the journey will be more than worth it. That’s why I want her to do this quick interview, even though she didn’t want to, so then people could see the transformation. Keep after it!
@turninmonyin2noise97810 ай бұрын
Nice to hear your wife's side of the adventure. She has no interest in becoming a pilot, but if you get her a few hours of basic airmanship, she will shed any nervous concerns from her previous experience. She will gain some confidence that she can have some control over her own welfare. Most passengers feel that they have given over all control of their destiny, She will take that back with a few hours of instruction. Look into the AOPA pinch hitter course. Blue Skies

I definitely agree, and see this is solid advice for sure. I’ve seen other videos where the non-flying partner gets some flying experience in case of emergency, so that they know what to do. I’m definitely going to slow walk it a bit, but eventually, I’m going to suggest that she at least understand the basics. I’m hoping that that’ll make her even more comfortable for sure. Thank you so much For watching, and thank you for the great feedback!

I would’ve liked to have heard more about your wife’s experience in 2002. Also, I would have liked to have heard whether your wife would be up to having enough training to communicate and land the aircraft if God forbid, something happened to you while you were all in the air.

Yeah, I wanted to do a little bit more, but my wife is not one to be in front of the camera. Definitely not something that she wanted to do, but she did it because I asked. And I think I’ll have to work on her overtime to do the copilot training. I think she’ll understand as we get further down our aviation path.
