Great video! These are the lenses I am using: EF-S 24mm f/2.8 for city and street 7Artisans 35mm f/1.4 II for general and lowlight EF 50mm f/1.8 for portraits and details EF-M 55-200mm f/3.5-6.3 for wildlife I ordered a cheap Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 from ebay in really great condition to replace the kit lens. It's big, old and loud but it seems good for the money. I hope it will work with the Viltrox Adapter I am using. The EF-M 15-45mm kit lens is really not that great but in case I wanna do a video I would probably use that. Right now, I am only missing a wide angle lens and I am looking at the 7Artisans 12mm f/2.8 II. What alternative or other budget lens would you recommend to complete my little collection?

Thanks. It does seem you’re really covered for everything. I absolutely love using the 7Artisans 7.5mm fisheye lens and the Neewer 25mm Lens. They are both manual focus and are both EF-M mount so no adapter required. I find they both produce excellent results and are great fun to use and of course a great cheap alternative. Thanks again and kind regards David 📷👍

I got my M50 Mk II for video. I have: the 15-45 mm kit lens, the Canon 22mm lens, and the Canon nifty 50 lens with a Viltrox speed booster. I have been a Canon user for sometime. I have or at least had a Canon AE-1 and at least one Canon T70. I also have a Canon AS-6. For Super 8 mm, I have a Canon "Prosumer" (I forget the model number) which I bought around 1980 for about $1,000.

That’s really great, I’ve not used my M50 mark ii for video apart from the odd clip. I must give it more of a go. Your combination of lenses sound perfect for video. Are you getting the results you expect from the M50 mark ii? Regards David

Hi David I’ve just purchased a brand new m50 mk2 I have also got a brand new viltrox speedbooster adapter and have on order from Amazon a nifty fifth cannon ef f1.8 simply because every channel said it a must in your kit and it was on offer @ £89.99 but it won’t get to me until 11-14 January as they was out of stock but at that price I didn’t mind waiting. The problem I have is I only have about £370 left to spend with no chance of getting anymore money as I am on Benifits because I have incurable cancer so money is tight but I took up photography because i was interested in it and there is a lot to learn thus trying to keep my brain sharp because of all the medication I take, I am at a loss of what to get next my gut was telling me a ef-m 11-22mm & a ef-m 55-200mm lens to give me a all round choice of lens as it’s unlikely that I will do any night shooting if I do it will be minimal tbh , but with me having the speedbooster I was thinking of maybe getting a I think it’s rf -70-300 cannon lens as I can pick one up second hand quite a decent price and can always take my camera with me to try it out before I buy it . Also there are other rf lenses second hand on eBay or Facebook marketplace at decent money so was wondering what your thoughts on purchasing the rf range as appose to the rf-m mount in terms of quality and how well they would work with my camera the rf lenses I am referring too as the m mounts are made especially for my camera so would obviously work well but any advice would be greatly appreciated. With kind regards. Ian dean

Hi Ian, the nifty fifty will give you good results. I personally would add either the ef-m 55-200 or if it’s a better price the ef 70-300 should work well. If you have the 15-45 kit lens I personally wouldn’t get the 11-22 unless you’re planing wide angle landscape photography. Keep in touch and let me know what you go for and how they perform. Best of luck with your new hobby. Kind regards David 📷👍

Awesome video! Love how you have created a playlist for each lens for a more in-depth look. Just moved to m50 mkii from the 2000D (rebel t7). Just been using my old adapted ef and ef-s lenses and the kit lens so far. The 28mm macro would be the one I’m most interested to see in action. Im considering it as the next lens I save up for. I’ve only really messed around with extension tubes. As I enjoy getting in close in a lot of my photography I feel the purchase of a macro would be justified. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the ef-m 15-45mm kit lens. It is nothing like the garbage ef-s 18-55mm that came with my 2000D. It produces a nice image at a compact size and at a perfect focal range. It has become my go-to street photography lens. I also love how it locks down in a more compact size for when your just carrying it around or tossing into a bag. I’ve been just limiting myself to the kit lens and my ef-s 55-250mm lens while on vacation and it has covered pretty much all my biases expect low light. I ordered a viltrox 23mm f1.4 about a week ago since my fastest ef prime was just a 1.8. It arrived ahead of me at my next destination so I’ll finally be trying it out tomorrow. Love the fact that it has a manual aperture. Should give me a little more control if I decide to shoot in silent mode which is foolishly locked down to an auto only mode on the m50 mkii. (Thanks canon) Hoping to eventually replace my affordable ef yongnuo 35mm f2 and 50mm f1.8 primes with faster viltrox or sigma equivalents, but for now I’m happy with my selection via adapter. The 11-24mm and the 22mm pancake are also intriguing to me due to their form factor and sharpness. The Rokinon 12mm f2 has also been on my radar for wide angle shots. My canon ef-s 55-250mm adapts so well that I have absolutely no interest in a native telephoto for the foreseeable future.

Thanks 😊 it’s great to hear you have moved across to this great little camera and all about your current selection of lenses. I will try and schedule some time in to create a video using the Canon 28mm macro lens, it is a great lens as you can use it for general photography and also get close. I’m out with a couple of other lenses first but will schedule it in. The Rokinon 12mm would be a great choice, for some reason I always have great enjoyment using the wide angle manual focus lenses and they are normally great value. Stay in touch, kind regards David.

Excellent overview of lenses made for the Canon M Mount M-50. I have the Canon 22, 32, 15-45 (kit lens), the 18-150 and the Sigma 56mm. I like all of them for various reasons. I'm a people shooter but am attempting to do more and more street photography and I find the 15-45 and the Sigma 56mm great for street work. The Sigma 56mm along with the 18-150 is also good for portrait work. I've considered getting the 55-200 but am not sure I would use it that much considering I have the 18-150. I also have the Viltrox speed booster so I can use EF-mount lenses like the nifty fifty on it and obtain essentially full frame shots. The Canon M-50 is, I think, a great camera for street photography and I hope Canon and others continue to manufacture lenses for the M-mount. Anyways, I like your photography and your views on different lenses--keep up the good work.

Thank you, it’s interesting that our range of lenses is very similar, I also hope Canon continue to support this camera especially since their current release of the crop sensor cameras in the R range. Great to hear you’re doing more street photography, hope that goes well for you. Kind regards David

Hi David! I just discovered your channel and really appreciate all of your helpful videos! I'm trying to decide on a new lens or two, and I have a Canon M50 like you, with just a 50mm efs and speedbooster. I'm interested in landscape/architecture/street photography and thought I'd watch your videos to help me figure out which one (or maybe two lol) to get, but now I just want them all!! 😂😂 I was wondering if you could only pick two lenses for that style of photography and you were just starting out, which would you pick? I've been looking at the 11-22, 22mm, and sigma 16mm, but would be curious to hear your recommendations. Thanks for your help and all of your lovely videos!
@DavidLudlowPhotography
@DavidLudlowPhotography Жыл бұрын
Hi Lauren Thank you so much for watching. Haha like you it’s a difficult one as I just love them all. If I had to choose two I would personally go for the Canon ef-m 22mm as it’s so small and light. You can get some really good street photography and architecture with it. It is also excellent for low light photography such as street photography at night and it’s wide enough to get a bit more of the scene. Now comes the really difficult one, if you want to do landscape photography then a zoom lens like the 18-150 is a great choice. It’s also a really good all purpose lens. It gives you the option of a wide landscape scene through to zooming in. A tripod is handy for times you want a slower shutter. As you have probably gathered from my videos I just love them all. I absolutely love the three EF-M Sigma lenses so they would be on my next list. Good luck and keep in touch and let me know what you get. Very kind regards David 📷👍😃

@@DavidLudlowPhotography Hi David! Thanks so much for responding! I really appreciate your input. I'm ordering the 22mm now hah, you convinced me! Still somewhat on the fence about a second lens. I hear you on the 18-150mm and having all the focal lengths, but I'm thinking it would be pretty big? And I think the sigma 16mm is big and heavy lol. I'll go rewatch the video and look at the size. But, if you were to choose between the 11-22 vs the sigma 16mm, you'd pick the sigma? I think at the moment, I find myself wanting something wider rather than having more reach most of the time. But, maybe that'll change in the future. Thanks again for your help.

Hello David, I’m planing to buy tamron 18-400 lens for my canon eos m50 mark2. Will this work with my camera? What accessories do I need to buy along with the lens? Do I need a speed booster to use this?
@DavidLudlowPhotography
@DavidLudlowPhotography Жыл бұрын
I personally would purchase an adapter rather than a speed booster. You need to make sure your Tamron lens is an ef or ef-s mount and then get an adapter that fits the EF-M and converts to ef or ef-s. Kind regards David

Hello sir, can you please advise on the landscape and nature photography ideas
@DavidLudlowPhotography
@DavidLudlowPhotography 2 жыл бұрын
The 55-200 is good for nature as it gets you close. I find the 11-22 good for landscapes although I must admit I really love the Sigma 16mm for landscape photography. Having said all that if I had to choose just one lens for both nature and landscape I would choose the 18-150mm, with a tripod for landscape. Kind regards David

Great video. I have a few of these lenses and plan on getting a few more of them (I have a list going of lenses I want). My favorite from your list are the sigma 16 and the cannon 55-200mm. I use the 55-200 for taking pictures of my sons soccer games and use the sigma 16 for video and walk around photography, I guess that’s street photography.

I've recently discovered your channel and I have subbed. I stopped using my M50 I & II about a year and a half ago and have recently returned to it with the help of the M200 and having been re-enthused by small point and shoot cameras such as the Sony HX80, ZV1 and Canon SX740. I originally liked the M series because of its lightweight and compact size. I have the Sigma 16 / 30 / 56mm, Viltrox 23mm, Canon 22, 15-45, 18-55, 55-200 lenses. I also use either the Viltrox M1 or M2 ("speedbooste") adaptors for EF & EF-S lenses 10-18, 24, 40, 50 f1.8, 50 f1.4, 85. I also have a couple of larger heavier EF glass that I try not to use for weight or size reasons. I will be adding some manual lenses and the Canon 11-22, 28 macro and 18-135 EF-S zoom in the next year but what I'd dearly lover is a lenses with longer reach than the 55-200 that is not too cumbersome and one that is as compact & lightweight as possible. I have a Sigma 100-400 but it weighs a ton, no stabilisation, it looks beautiful and consequently usually stays at home. Looking for someone who still produces videos on the M50 even when it has gone out of fashion, even with Canon themselves.
@DavidLudlowPhotography

Wow you really do have a large collection of lenses. I have the Sigma EF-S 18-250mm with a Viltrox adapter. This is a cumbersome lens and will use it mainly for landscape photography when I only want to carry one lens. I’m too on the look out for a longer reach but I don’t think we’ll find the nice small sizes like the ef-m range. Kind regards David 📷👍
