While I was in Korea, Yuri, Dasomi, and Chris were preparing surprises for me.
They went to a Black hair salon in Utah and got their hair done for the first time at a hair salon. This was their first time getting their hair professionally done at any hair salon.

It’s so refreshing to see this man accept these beautiful children into his life treating them with so much love and appreciation, even though their biological father treats him with so much hate and aggression he continues to lead with such love and integrity doing what a human should do. You can tell the girls really like him, in every video I’ve watched. sending you all love from London, Uk 🇬🇧

Going to the salon as a young black girl is such a right of passage. It's more than just about hair care. Not only are you pampered, but you get to an opportunity to commune with other black women. As a child, just to sit and listen to the grown ups talking, gossiping and laughing was an event. The life lessons to be learned in just a few hours is priceless. In a community where you are usually one of few, it can feel amazing to finally be in space way you are one many. Where people understand without you really having to explain. Thank you Chris for taking the girls on this important journey in life. Also shout out to the stylist and the salon. The silk press she did on Yuri and Dasomi is EVERYTHING!!!

I personally used to get bored with the grownups gossips lol but now I think of those memories fondly 😊. I'm sure the two little ladies, Yuri and Dasomi, have really enjoyed seeing their hair being taken care of at the salon. They will keep the memories to tell their own kids one day. They look super cute with their new hairstyle ❤

Yeah but it's a shame that they couldn't enjoy it because their father was standing over top of them laughing and giggling. When you go to the salon it's a place for you to relax. Just like when you go to a barber shop. No one stands over top of you with a camera and laughs. I'm just saying. It was kind of annoying.

Great idea on this 'Right Of Passage' for Yuri and Dasomi. The clincher is now you're stuck. Ha ha. Anything less from here on out will be unacceptable, so learn to reach deep for regular trips like this "Dad". I knew once she had her hair washed she’d completely relax. Love getting my hair washed at the Salon. They can now see how their hair can be managed without stress. Doesn’t always have to be straightened, next time get a deep condition and curl treatment so they can see how their curls would look after being nourished and moisturised. 🎉 🇬🇧🇯🇲

Our tight curl pattern and thick hair can be hard for any parent to take care of but even harder when a parent has never had to deal with that kind of hair. Yes finally after so many years they are going to a Natural hair salon not just an African braider. Nothing is wrong with going to the African hair braiders it's good as a protective style, but they don't really focus on hair cuts and tips on how to take care of natural hair like a Black-owned Natural hair salon does. Thank you Chris for bringing the girls there to boost Yuri's and Dasomi's self-esteem and show them Black self-love. Please do this every three months to keep their hair healthy. All the girls need now is to go to an African cultural center to learn Kenyan culture and Kiswahili three times a week. That will help them learn the other side of their ethnicity fully. These girls need BIPOC friends to see weekly to help them with their self-identity problems. These activities like African drum classes, Kiswahili classes, African dance, etc. will build the girls up, so they won't listen to racist kids when they say mean things about them.

@@laurieb.9555 Yes, Chris is God-sent he is doing right by the girls'. I hope they take my advice to heart the girls are about to hit puberty fully and this is the time they want to be around people who look like them and understand their ethnic culture without judgement. Only interacting with White people won't help with that, they need to be around a racially diverse community or their in danger of a self-identity crisis. I hope the middle school Lily picked for Yuri is racially diverse, so Yuri grows up well rounded with people who can relate to her experiences as a Blasian girl in the USA.

I also wanna see them going to a curly hair salon to teach them how to properly moisturize and define their hair, they have a beautifuk curk pattern! And yeah nothing against african braids, they just seem to fit older people, they need more young looking braids and styles. No hate to their mom, everything is a learning experience!
@Chels4hair
@Chels4hair 2 ай бұрын
@@YenellyT I think they straighten their hair because they needed a trim badly and most natural hair girls do this once to twice a year usually in winter/early spring to switch up their look. I’m sure this hair salon will teach the girls how to shampoo the hair-scalp correctly and how to detangle using a lot conditioner. They will probably recommend them to use a deep conditioner after using shampoo and conditioner to help them grow their hair especially Dasomi since she had to cut off two inches due to breakage. Hopefully when they go back next time they will teach Dasomi how to define her tight curls and coils for a more define wash-n-go. Too much frizz causes tangles which leads to split ends aka damage. So it’s best to have define curls to prevent that or a blow dried Afro if you’re going for a frizzy look. But when you mix the both that’s when you get hair damage.

@@rissaheads6091I said it was a struggling taming *MY* hair. As in ME, MYSELF, I. Not anyone else? MY experience was that the women in my life relied on relaxer. So that’s all that was done to my hair when I was younger. When I was old enough to make MY OWN decisions, I stopped using it, but had no idea how to take care my hair in its natural state. I was actually the first woman in my family to do this so knowledge was limited. I replied on black hair salons for insight when I could afford it. It was a long and difficult transition; but my hair has flourished because of it. So again, it was hard *FOR MEEEE*. If that was not your experience, or you’ve been blessed to know and understand your hair, I’m truly happy for you 💕 However, it doesn’t change the reality that other people may not share that same experience.

So beautiful! Whatever you do, never let your girls get their beautiful hair chemically straightened ❤ Tip- to keep their curls a few days , at night scrunch up their curls with the palm of your hands and place a Bobby pin to keep them in place Place bonnet at night. In the morning just remove pins and shake 😅 Look at KZbin to see how to use the heartless satin thingy 😅to get bouncy curlz

they are--and the salon can feel like you are around your aunties and friends,etc. I liked how the stylists were ok with Chris being with his girls and the snacks and the way you could tell the girls started to feel pampered--that is what a real Black salon is like. A safe nurturing place for Black women and girls.

First time watching a video for this family. Their hair is long, but dry & looks like 4B/4C texture. It’s a tradition for African-American girls, but the comments said their biological father is African. It’s great that they were able to have this experience. However, I don’t understand why non-Black women date & marry Black men and don’t make any attempt to educate themselves about textured hair prior to starting a family. It’s quite easy to tell when biracial female children have non-Black mothers, their textured hair is rarely cared for properly. The girls look happy. Yayyy!❤

Lots of beauticians don’t know how to care for hair of this type. The best thing is to condition it and soften with heat or a steamer first and while the conditioner is in detangle with wide comb softly pulling with fingers to lengthen tough areas and it takes a delicate touch.
