My Bmw M140i i bought from auction which was stolen recovered was stripped to pieces. I rebuilt it using BMW M2 parts to make a one of a kind M2 Hatchback. I recently stage 2 tuned the M140i at ‪@MalloryPerformance‬ and its now running around 430bhp but with help from a hybrid turbo we should be able to push the m140i to over 550bhp. But first i have to install it along side a high pressure fuel pump, then its time for Stage 3!

bro, genuinely i’m 20, i do all the work on my car myself never go to a garage anymore,, apart from the odd question for the mechanic (who surprisingly is more than happy to help) , and i have to say i got lucky because i was basically given an audi a4 1.9tdi to work on, and long story short i either changed the cambelt and sorted a problem with the turbo or it was gonna get scrapped. it was the first car i’d ever worked on. I did already have a good understanding of engines and mechanics already but not excessive as i was only 17 at the time. My point is that i got lucky that i managed to try it the first time on a car that didn’t matter if it went wrong but i did the whole lot from youtube vids and a bit of research, it gave it a new lease of life and worked perfectly after. anyway i’m really not trying to brag, just saying if you can bring yourself to just give it a go you’ll probably surprise yourself how much you can do. and the worse case scenario is that you pay a mobile mechanic £50 to come and check over a job that would have cost you £300 to get done in a garage. I really enjoy all of your videos - well made and very entertainment! I just have a wish for your future projects, since most or if not all of your current projects are kinda expensive cars.. So perhaps something in style with the BMW 1 series? A much more relatable car, since it's a car most can afford, so we can use the knowledge that we get from you videos' on out own car.. ;-)

Not that it matters now however for future reference it’s best to ‘prime’ the turbo with oil before fitting as it’s never good to start the engine up and run the turbo dry till the oil gets pumped round. Mint video as always tho Matt, this build has been mint👌🏻

Been working on cars as a mechanic for 10+ years and i never heard about turbo oil primeing..no hate. On initaial startup the turbo barley spins or makes any boost there isnt any posible way somthing could break beacuse of runing "dry"

I’ve always thought of a hybrid turbo is that made of various bits from other turbos having and the electric pack bolted to it controls the VNT (variable vanes in the exhaust side)

Can you code out them pops? exhaust is probably too loud may do your nut in, you would rather hear the turbo for sure. Also big brake upgrade required? That thing is going to be an absolute rocket 🚀

The tuner would have to do it on the 140i, I have mhd on my 335i which I can turn the aggressiveness of the pops n bangs up or down, think you can get bootMod for the 140i which does the same thing

@@br4d101 ah ok, sounds straight forward to do them. I just think this era of pops and bangs by inducing the sound on lift off is a bit silly. I wanted to see and hear the 140 drive around the corner under load. I like the little crackles when changing through the gears (not dsg though lol) I wonder if you can get more noise under load especially with that turbo.

although compressor design does aid in adding power, the extra power comes from the size of the compressor and turbine wheel, just saying :P also i hope you primed the turbo with oil :D

I did try to reposition the sensor and the casing wouldn’t allow it. After speaking to people who fitted the same fuel pump they all mentioned that had to extend the wiring 🤷‍♀️
