Tanner Thompson - Of COURSE it can! However, if a medical doctor/researcher is confident enough to do so, it can speed useful therapies into more common use. Again, your comments show some cognitive difficulty. Considering the rampant use of, say, psychotropic drugs I find it quite suspicious that those who advocate their use in other people's bodies do not use them themselves and have NEVER proven "imbalances" of neurotransmitters in any laboratory. Meat is not an unhealthy food for humans. You are misguided to think and say so. Vegans such as yourself advocate a synthetic diet of domesticated (i.e. man-made) plants full of antinutrients and synthetic laboratory drugs. No natural people have ever been observed to be vegan because it is as unnatural a diet as one can eat! As for cigarettes, the tobacco plant being manipulated with ammonia and other chemical contaminants causing it to cross the blood-brain barrier differently than natural leaf tobacco and become far more addictive and damaging is a case of science being applied in the service and for the benefit of corporate capitalist interests. I know of no cases where that has been a good thing for anybody. To completely discount "anecdotal" evidence is to be a mind control victim of the "authorities" who want us to look to them to tell us what we should be eating and doing.
@tumblebugspace6 жыл бұрын
Tanner Thompson - There are really very many examples; too many to name them all here. Oftentimes, researchers who have experimented on themselves and would like the FDA, etc. to investigate and study further are stymied by corporate capitalist interests who are making too much money on the drugs and surgeries/procedures (that are treating the symptoms of disease and not the cause) to want anything changed. One researcher that comes to mind is Barry Marshall, the Nobel Prize winning discoverer of Helicobacter pylori. I'll bet you personally know people who are eating drugs for excessive stomach acid; a high percentage of them are likely infected with this bacterium. This bug is endemic in Bhutan; approximately 30% of the population of Bhutan is infected with it. The predominately Buddhist population doesn't eat meat, yet is at increased risk of stomach cancer because they host this parasitical bacterium! My favorite TV guy when I was growing up was Mister Rogers. He was vegetarian, yet died from stomach cancer. Many Indian gurus have died from diabetes and cancer, LONG before chemical agriculture. The longest lived people in the world eat meat. Truly, soon it will be common knowledge that the mixing of grain "foods" and animal products makes for incomplete, improper digestion that encourages disease. You advocate a synthetic, unnatural diet. Who cares if I don't live to be 100? I'm not a property owner, so I have little say over the conditions of my life among the civilized, in the modern society of these United States of America. Do I owe you, corporations OR the government my lifelong labor? I do not fear my own death, as the majority of my fellow citizens seem to. That makes people vulnerable to manipulation by spiritual and materialistic interests alike. You advocate adoption of dietary principles that are designed to create obedient followers of those who claim (with their financial biases) to be the "authorities" of what is healthy and what is not. Also, vegans don't seem to mind eating microscopic animals at all, either, which I find hypocritical.
@cheefussmith93806 жыл бұрын
Tanner, if you're interested in being taken seriously and less like a troll, perhaps explore starting your comments with something other than "this is fucking retarded" followed by an absurd analogy. can you cite some of the research "proving how terrible only eating meat is" because this is not a new diet. The earliest paper I found dealing with all-meat diet is from 1930.

FruityLiving I was on Keto and switched to Carnivore-Been doing it for 5 weeks now...I used pickle juice for electrolytes, some bone broth as well-I have eaten beef, pork, chicken, salmon...I was trying not to be to extreme so I still go out to eat as well-we normally eat a ton of Asian food-so at Vietnamese pick chicken out of a curry soup and eat that, or get Korean style spare rib bbq...At Mexican I get a ribeye...But I feel ucky if I eat a sausage on my way to work...so I need to prepare more and avoid those. I have had some issues in the bathroom (sorry to be gross) BUT I took a anti-diarrhetic and so far I am taking one about every 3-4 days -But I had gut issues before-so I cannot say this would be an issue for everyone. The thing that surprised me was -I feel FREE!!! from food and food cravings for the first time in my life! My sleep apnea is better by far and I am sleeping so well! I have lost 27 lbs but I did NOt do this for weight loss-I had resigned myself to be fat long ago. I had not been able to lose weight for 25 years no matter what... But I have a ton of auto-immune issues and that is what I am trying to cure! Plus my friend got non-alcoholic liver disease and I imagined that I might get that too as well as feeling like I have congestive heart disease. My insurance has finally kicked in and I can get things checked hopefully...But I am super happy with the improvements to my life on this!

After reading and viewing MUCH information… I have come to the following conclusions (which are simply my own layman’s opinions): 1. Humans should probably eat only once a day, but no more than twice. Intermittent fasting is our natural state and our bodies truly thrive under these circumstances - including periodic prolonged, and occasional dry, fasting. 2. Humans are omnivores that have evolved to survive on any combination of animal and plant foods. Although we should probably eat approximately 90% animals and 10% plants… just like lactose, our bodies have evolved to tolerate more plants in our diet since the dawn of agriculture. (Population growth would not have been sustainable on animals alone IMO. The change was necessary for long term survival of the species.) 3. Today, each individual has different needs, comfort levels and tolerations - there is no single right or wrong way for everyone. Therefore, I intend to alter my personal diet accordingly: 1. One Meal A Day most days. [Autophagy is of the utmost importance!] 2. Fresh, natural foods only - mostly animal-based. 3. Drink water, coffee, tea, milk only. 4. Minimize grains, starchy vegetables and sugary fruits as much as possible. 5. Eliminate processed or packaged foods, added sugars, and alcohol as much as possible. 6. Fast 1-2 days per week (water and dry fasting interchangeably). However, the general public is too easily overwhelmed and confused, and has a total lack of self-discipline. This is where I believe all of you "experts" are missing the boat. Normal people leading normal lives need simplicity: 1. A single 4-6 hour eating window per day of 1 or 2 meals. The earlier the better (preferably before dark). 2. Eat any and all natural, fresh foods and drinks in any portions desired. 3. Minimize everything else (packaged foods, sweets, alcohol, etc) as much as possible. If everyone could receive and live by these 3 simple guidelines, the world's overall health would improve drastically. KISS!! Maybe you can do a video for normal people. 99% of us are not health nuts or gym rats. The strict regimens outlined by all of the "experts" are conflicting, confusing, and definitely overwhelming! Plus, most are presented as an "all or nothing" approach. Give the world the easy answer... "How to live longer and healthy as a regular person!"

I and my fathers side of the family all suffered acid reflux and in many cases ulcers. My father had much of his intestines removed in the 1960's due to duodenal ulcers and his father died from them. We are all O -ve blood types typical red hair green eyed celts. I developed acid reflux by my late 30's and took medication for it for years. If not I'd be quite ill within a couple of days. I also developed high blood pressure and stomach fat. I began a carnivore diet 5 weeks ago and ate within a 4 hr window. I've lost about 4" from my waist and t shirts that were embarrassingly tight are now a nice loose fit all around. Even my face has slimmed. I stopped reflux meds with no consequence (I'd tried it the previous month before the diet and was quite ill) and blood pressure meds. I had a blood test last week and the doctor announced all my markers were good, my blood pressure absolutely normal 120/80 (was 140/90...I'm 63) and I find my energy levels are much higher.....I've since started back at the gym and attack the weights enthusiastically.

On day 17 I felt I needed electrolytes and slammed two Gatorades but that was my only cheat day. On day 3 noticed I was leaning up. Now I'm leaner and stronger than I have been since my 20s. My skin feels so healthy, my stomach and digestive system feels perfect, zero bloating, and mentally I'm more present in my day to day activities. Also my sleep has changed for the better and I have zero issues with getting a solid 8 hours. I did this to see what reaction my body had to red meat, now red meat is a must. After this 30 days is over I will slowly transition into keto but keep my meat intake up.

The thing I found that works great for me re: organs meats is to use it as a nice side-dish instead of a full, big meal. When we think about hunter-gatherers getting ready to eat from a large animal, there would only be a modest amount of organs compared to muscle meat and fat, so they'd each only get a bit every time they hunted. I have maybe 5 or 6 ounces with my steak or beef patty and it goes down much, much better than if it's the only thing on my plate. All the best and thanks for sharing your experiences with carnivore--lots of great info--thanks!

I was into endurance sports such as triathlons and marathons--which I no think is healthy or good. Now I do weights once a week and walk daily. It is enough. Being a retired anesthesiologist I now have the time to do research on optimal health. So far I found Keto to the the best but will try the carnivore diet based on your info which is extremely helpful. The whole goal of Keto and Carn is to let your body heal and not worry about counting Marcos after awhile. Once you kick your sweet tooth and processed food habit you can then start to listen to your own personable needs. I lost weights 4 times per week with out counting. I go between carn and Keto. You’ll know how much you need by listening to your body. One night I ate a ribeye with 3 eggs. Was still hungry so baked me a piece of king salmon. Then that amazing euphoric I’m full feeling happened. After a while listen to your body. I’m stating 6 months of nutritional eating. Bone broth is your friend. So is marrow.

Your comments fall into line with my Keto experience. I’m into month 2 and @61 I’ve lost 7.6kgs & now feel 30 years of age again. You wouldn’t know I have 2 arthritic knees that were due to be replaced (not anymore, for now anyway), I wouldn’t know I have bad feet (Plantar fasciitis), no bloat, no flatulence, crape skin is gone, dermatitis is gone, cravings for carbs or sugar is gone, lethargy is gone, sleep 30% less than I used to, wake up totally refreshed & alert, body is stronger, smarter (at least I feel that way), the list goes on.... Thing is my 91 year old mum is on it too, hasn’t helped her bad knee as it’s just too far gone, nor has it helped her hearing! But, she is saying she feels terrific & her rings now keep falling off her fingers as she has lost a few kgs. As with most (if not all) who do the Keto diet I thought I couldn’t live without my carbs (pasta, rice, bread, cereal, potatoes), my fresh fruit (pawpaw, mango, mangosteen, lychee), my veggies & salads? But guess what when in ketosis your brain tells your body, “You don’t need that shit, you’ve got plenty of body fat to convert to ketones & it I starts running short eat more meat & fats. Wow, that’s bazaar for me to just say that. Doing my 2nd set of full bloods in another 3 weeks to compare those I took beforehand which were sensational. Keep you posted!

Great info, been doing this for a couple of weeks now, I'm using grass fed ground beef and eggs (Vince Gironda), down to 2 meals a day, fasting until 1.00pm then have 5 eggs and 400grams of ground beef. This keeps me full until around 7.00pm. My stomach is so much better for it. I used to be a 6 meal a day guy on a sugar roller coaster but not anymore.

Some people have adaptation symptoms and some don't when I first tried paleo ten years ago I dived right in both feet first, going from SAD to under 20 grams of carbs per day, I had no negative symptoms whatsoever other than some minor fatigue for the first five days but it wasn't enough to impact my daily work for example. When it comes to fasting in my experience and talking to others who eat both paleo and carnivore, most people naturally switch to eating twice a day without feeling hungry or starving themselves, real food is satiating so we don't need three meals a day and grazing in between.

The food pyramid should be turned upside down. What’s the matter with these people who are advising low-fat, high-carbohydrate diets? It gets worse. Not only does increased carbohydrate-induced insulin tell your body to store carbohydrate produced blood sugar as fat, but excess insulin robs your muscles-your engines of fat-burning metabolism-of their ability to burn sugar and stored fat for energy. So the excess carbohydrates in your diet not only produce excess insulin that makes you fat, they make sure you stay fat. This is how lethal excess carbohydrates are. The medical people who are trying to force your cholesterol down to zero forgot to tell you that as your cholesterol level falls to a certain point, you jump from the frying pan of heart disease risk into the fire of death by all sorts of other diseases. What kind of diseases? Cerebral hemorrhage, gall bladder disease and many types of cancer; falling cholesterol is a marker for several types of cancer. Cholesterol need not be lower than 180 mg/dl to 200 mg/dl range. Carbohydrates, processed sugars and chemical laden processed foods are what stimulate body fat storage-and sales of cholesterol drugs. And the caution from government panels and their propagandists against cholesterol drove many people to consume foods high in sugar and carbohydrates. It’s not a “diet” as much as it’s a lifestyle change. It starts with fresh, whole organic foods-primarily raw-and only free-range, non chemical-laden meats.

Recently, my naturopath treated me for metabolic acidosis. My kidneys were not releasing bicarbonate, so the lungs began the hyperventilating process to clear the acidosis. No one thought of this and so.I struggled since 9 yrs old (now 58) with shortness of breath (stairs were painful) among other problems. Since treating with baking soda and checking my PH which I aim for 7.4, I can joyfully walk up the 45 stairs to my vehicle. Puffers are down 75%. As long as I stay Carnivore/Keto (chocolate my only weakness really) we stay on the easy peasy road. So, for some of us who perhaps had a ton of stress, especially in childhood, poverty and grief, I believe the PH can be a huge factor to investigate after a lifetime of diet investigating. Also, there was histamine intolerance. No allergy medication going on three years now, even in the grassy plains!! I don't think eating meat itself is a moral issue, but the way we eat meat en masse in todays day and age is. In 99% of cases farmed animals are treated badly, pumped full of harmful (to us & them) chemicals and exist solely to satiate an increasingly overpopulated planet. Carnivore diet works for so many people because it's an elimination diet. I went carnivore for a while to help with an inflammatory disease. It helped like nothing else. I have to stick to a low oxalate diet now which means I have to limit my plant intake, and eat the lowest oxalate vegetables like cabbage (which I love love love.) Nuts and seeds are a rate treat. The great part about the carnivore diet is you just eat until you're satisfied. Your body will adjust and tell you when you're full. Over time you'll eat less and also eat less often because you're satisfied longer. For sure it's a good way to reset your system.

Glad to hear it worked out well for yourself! I tried it for a little more than a month a few months ago. First two weeks were pretty bad, no energy whatsoever, and headaches. But that was expected, so I pushed through. The next 3 weeks were...alright. I didn't have any bloating, which was really nice for a change, and it totally killed my cravings for junk food, which IMO was the best thing to come out of it. However my energy level was consistently low. I didn't have ups or downs, which was nice, it was constant energy, but the energy level itself was low. Like, I wasn't so low on energy that I needed to lay in bed all day, but the energy level wasn't high enough where I actually wanted to get out of bed. it's like I was just content laying there. Which I guess was better than before where I *NEEDED* to lay down. Been doing a raypeat diet for two months now, most of my calories come from goat milk, and Oj, and I have good energy all throughout the day, so I'm sticking to this for the foreseeable future. I'm kinda bummed that the carnivore diet didn't work out for me, I really enjoyed eating steaks everyday.

Dr. Gustin - Fantastic and thorough breakdown of your experiences on the carnivore diet, thank you! Love the mTOR question. Ha! In regard to your gut flora / microbiome issue I’m not sure how your are testing, but I work in San Diego which is a hotspot for biotech and one of the companies I interact with is Sun Genomics. They sequence stool on a repetitive (quarterly basis usually) to monitor, track and tweak a precision - custom probiotic approach to gut flora. As with any product the “ingredients” (like Perfect Keto / Equip) determine the products effectiveness. The product this company has is called Flore’ (probiotics). In this case, the science which I am familiar with (library prep, sequencing, enzyme efficiencies, DNA fidelity rates, etc...) really factors into the efficacy of the product. If you are interested, please let me know and I’d be happy to put you in touch with the team. I’ve worked with the owner and company over the last 4 years and they really know their “bugs” and science. The owner is a microbiologist and expert in sequencing and they’ve come a long way in helping out with gut / normal flora issues. I can’t tell you how much I’ve appreciated all your videos, podcasts, healthy foods, books and more so if I can return the favor I am happy to. You can check them out at www.sungenomics.com and of course contact me directly if you’d like to chat with them. Thanks again for the great carnivore review!

I say why in the end of the video. I don't think eating meat 100% of the time is the healthiest approach and I just like certain other foods and want to incorporate them. And no on deficiencies if you eat well rounded (fish, meat, organs, etc.)

I think you have a great approach on how to start the diet. Make sure that you try the diet for at least 3 weeks, going "all in", so that your body can adapt. However, I think you, as well as a lot of people, seem to deviate from your system when adding foods back in. You should probably allow the same 3 weeks to see if your body can get used to the the newly introduced foods. The downside is that it would take so much longer to figure out what your body can tolerate.

I have four quick questions: 1) Should you focus on variety regarding the animals you eat? 2) What kind of cuts should you go for: lean or fatty? 3) Is this detrimental or beneficial for women with hormone-issues (incl. elevated testosterone levels)? 4) Would you continue taking natural meds (e.g. glutamine, alpha-lipoic acid or even progesterone cream) while doing the carnivore diet, in order to fight acute parasites and bugs, or would that lead your body to not heal the issue on its own, and merely remain reliant on outside supplements? Thank you in advance for taking the time! :)

Listen to the body and it will respond back. Thanks brother, much appreciate the info! 😁👍🏼🥩

Were you concerned with iron? Two rib eyes at 900g total is 14.7mg of iron per day. Did this cause a problem? For me, my doctor mentioned that my iron was too high (although I really wish she told me by how much) and I only had about 8.5mg per day according to cronometer. I'm thinking if I ever did 14.7mg, she might raise all holy hell :(

Katie Egervari hey hey my iron levels are included in my blood work answer mid way through. Tl;dr all my iron markers went down so no not worried about iron overload.

Thanks! Yeah, I was only 15 mins into the video when I posted this. Sorry! I really wonder my iron is "too high" I really ought to get the numbers and research the numbers myself :/

My husband was diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia and the doctors told me to have him eat less fat. Can you help me on whether or not this might be good for him? I will do whatever it takes to prolong his quality of life. Also my sister (who also lives with me) is diabetic and has a very bad eating habit, I try to help her with the knowledge of food and fixing meals for her and what she needs to do, but her doctor tells her to combat bad eating with taking more insulin. I tell her it's counterproductive to eat a low carb diet and then take her insulin that is supposed to lower her blood sugar but then she feels the need to eat carbs to counter the insulin that lowered her blood sugar that wasn't abnormal in the first place because I feed her a low carb diet. It's so frustrating trying to explain this to her. Thanks in advance, Chelle

Hello Dr. Gustin! Do you recommend the Paleovalley Grass-Fed Organ Complex capsules? Will it be necessary to consume additional organ meats on top of that supplement? Also.. when utilizing carnivore to get “shredded” (get leaner), is it necessary to be in a caloric deficit or track any macros? And is there a specific macro breakdown to adhere to in regards to protein vs fat intake? Thank you for any insight you can provide! I’m excited to give carnivore a shot!
