In this video, I break down all the real reasons why people are succeeding on the carnivore diet and highlight a bit of why I think the carnivore diet works for so many.
Have a question? Comment here or send me a DM on Instagram ( / dranthonygustin ) I read and respond to every single one.

I really doubt you lost over 2000 calories worth of body weight, every single day, for 60 days straight. assuming you're eating a normal amount of calories for a grown man, you'd be burning almost 4000 calories a day, half of which being directly from your body.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, ME, adrenal fatigue. After two years of being primarily homebond, we finally found 2 medications this past May that lower my pain from a 9 or 10 to about a 7. We heard about this diet through Joe Rogan interviewing Dr. Shawn Baker, Mikhaila Peterson, and her father. We have tried everything with no improvement, so we decided why not give this a try. I have been eating the carnivore diet for 34 days now. I'm not healed, I still have lots of pain, but I am noticing big changes. Instead of waking up with a 7 or 8 on the pain scale, many mornings it is now a 4 or 5! This is HUGE!!! Most days over the past 2 years I feel like my body is lead, just to raise my hand to scratch my head is painful. Now most days I have some energy, it varies, but there is almost always some energy. The only thing different is that I eat only meat. It was terribly hard for me the first week, but now I love the simplicity. Food doesn't define my day. I usually eat one meal a day, sometimes a snack of bacon, but I am full. I never experienced feeling full ever in my life before. It's an interesting journey and I'm excited to see where it leads! Also, being very sick, I obviously can't exercise, but I am losing weight every week. I've lost over 20 pounds already which mentally makes me feel so much better!

KenDBerryMD do you have any evidence of this? Because the scientific data shows evidence to the contrary. What makes more sense Gathering tubers berries nuts seeds or chasing down an animal for a few days killing it and eating it for a couple days because meat goes Rancid. Meat was a luxury our ancestors were mostly gatherers and once in awhile we got lucky with a good hunt. Where do you think they store these foods without Refrigeration?

I know I'm a little late to this but I've recently switched this diet and it's been a borderline life changing experience so far! I started to hear about it a few years ago but thought like everyone else did that this is insane! How can a person go #2 let alone, LIVE on a diet like that? Keep in mind that I've gone from one extreme to the other in terms of dieting to see what does and doesn't work before, vegan, keto, weight watchers, you name it, I've tried it but none of it worked. I just kept getting bigger and bigger year after year and the best I could do was just work out to the point of exhaustion to keep my weight even. After being on this diet for only 2+ weeks, this is the BEST I've ever felt! I've already lost 20 pounds JUST from switching to a all meat diet. Not only that but I have some pretty severe arthritis in my lower back and neck which was getting to the point of no return mentally because I had tried everything I could think of to keep the inflammation down but literally nothing worked. The inflammation I had was so severe that I couldn't bend up to get out of bed in the morning and I dreaded waking up because of how much I was hurting each morning and had to take pain medication first thing to just feel somewhat human again. When I say that this is the best decision I've ever made in my life I am not joking at all. The carnivore diet pretty much saved my life and I wish more people knew about it and didn't think it was all smoke and mirrors. It's the real deal folks!

I’ve never been on any diet nor changed my eating habits in my 37 years. I began the carnivore diet 32 days ago hoping to reduce inflammation in my colon (proctitis). The first week was rough, but now I feel great. I have sustained energy and and more even temperament. I started exercising again a couple days ago and, other than a little uneasiness the first day (and a sore butt by the second), I’ve felt good. I gave up eggs over a week ago because I kept having loose stool. Everything’s been completely normal since then. I never would have guessed eggs were a problem. I’ve always eaten what I like. Also, my proctitis symptoms haven’t shown up in a couple weeks. My GI is supportive of what I’m doing. If I still am doing well by Nov I don’t have to see him again, at least not for awhile. Hope things keep going well for me.

I'm always happy to see another success story as I begin this journey. I have ankylosing spondylitis (fusing and swelling of the spine rheumatoid). Tried just about everything and just slowly hunching over and in constant pain with every movement. Started this diet 2 days ago and I can tell you I feel better than I have in years already. Maybe it's placebo being so early on, but I don't care what it is. lol. Mood seems to have improved as well as energy. I've been doing all the things I have been neglecting for so long and whistling while I do it. I can already glide up the stairs on my front porch where before I would slowly take one step at a time--groaning the whole way. Neck is still a bit stiff and can still feel the inflammation in my hip especially when sitting for a while. It seems like a compounding of so many factors, I don't think I can explain it if I wanted to, but I feel exceptional already. Can hardly wait to see what day 30 is going to be like. I really hope I will never have to even look at another biologic again.

I am a woman in my 50s in menopause and I did keto for a long time with very limited results. It became super hard to lose any weight. Then I discovered Code Red lifestyle and did that for 2 months and the weight was slow to come off. It was a bit different than keto but very low carb. Then I found carnivore and have been doing that ever since up until the present and counting and the weight is still coming off. I feel great too so I am going to keep going on this diet. It's so easy to just have to eat one kind of food and not worry about what you are eating, how much and all that info that gets lost in translation. And I feel full all the time. No hunger or cravings. I eat twice a day and intermittent fast the rest of the time and drink a gallon of water everyday and get my rest. Hope this can help others.

Plants are absolutely unnecessary in the human diet. Carbohydrates are NOT an Essential Macro Nutrient. ANY carbohydrate consumed creates an imbalance. Any excess Glucose in bloodstream causes cardio-vascular damage. The body knows exactly how much Glucose is needed and manufactures it from dietary protein. The process is called Gluconeogenesis. Boring? Anyone that states that eating animal fat/meat is boring needs an adjustment in brain function. Any of your support for eating Carbohydrates(plants) which is actually SUGAR is Nutritionally Absurd. Attempting to rationalize eating poison(Plants) other than when used as a spice to flavor animal fat and animal protein only promotes ill health. There is no health related reason to have plant matter in the human diet. ALL Mammals use FAT as Metabolic Fuel. Herbivores are either "front end fermenters" (very efficient) or "back end fermenters" (much less efficient). The fermentation process in herbivores is to convert fibrous carbohydrate material (very low grade nutrients) into Fat to be used as Metabolic Fuel. Front end fermenters have a "rumen." They re-chew their plant food several times before it is then fermented in the gut. Ruminants produce specific enzymes for this process. Back end fermenters have a Caecum which is the "fermentation organ" that converts plant materials into Fat to be used as Metabolic Fuel. Great Apes have a Caecum. They are Herbivores. The Caecum is not as efficient as the Rumen. That is why Great Apes are sometimes observed eating their own feces. The fermentation wasn't complete. Humans do not have a Rumen or a Caecum. Humans do not produce the enzymes used to convert plant matter into Fat. Humans may have had a Caecum in the far distant past before evolution converted us into Carnivores. Humans have an incredibly acidic Alimentary Canal. So acidic that any plant based enzymes are destroyed in the stomach. Herbivores do not produce concentrated Hydrochloric Acid. Only Carnivores produce concentrated Hydrochloric Acid in the stomach. Humans are Physiologically Carnivores. It cannot be rationalized by suggesting "doctor" says we should eat plants. The "dawn of agriculture" was about 10,000 years ago. That is when humans first began reintroducing plants into our diet and the lobg term effects are easy to see now. Humans are rife with chronic diet related disease. Just like house cats forced to eat dry soy based "cat food." They always develop renal disease. The reason is that cats are obligate carnivores. Humans are too. Stop eating plants and make your body healthy.

While the body certainly does not need carbs, the claim that *any* amount of them is harmful is unfounded. We have insulin and it regulates blood sugar well, as long as insulin sensitivity is high and the glucose load is not too high. Look at India and East Asia, people there consume tons of rice and the overwhelming majority is fine. Precisely because they are not insulin resistant and fiber helps them to keep the glycemic load after meals low. You are the mirror image of internet Vegans with a capital V. Highly emotional and biased post.

@@marcelwindpassinger5572 Actually your hypothesis is only partially correct. ALL MAMMALS use FAT as Metabolic Fuel. It is NOT emotional. It is Nutritional Physiology. Just because you point to the Asian Sub-Continent and state they consume millions of tons of rice the FACT is that rice was NOT GROWN as a grain until approximately 7000 years ago. Human spent 2 1/2 Million Years Eating Animal Fats and Animal Protein. That is Fact and is Not Emotional. Your mention of Vegans is actually laughable. Do you know what function the Caecum provides for Great Ape which are in fact Herbivores? Humans had a Caecum a few Million Years Ago. Now it is a vestigial organ called the Appendix. This is called Physiology. It is NOT emotion. I have a doctorate in Nutritional Science. What's your background? Judging from the Geological Evidence our Evolution from Herbivore to Obligate Carnivore was forced by Cataclysmic Events. The bottom line is that my entire life has been focused on Mammalian Physiology & Nutrition with gradate focus on Human Evolution and I know of what I speak and you offer poorly researched anecdotal bullshit. @Blu Everything the Doc said about carnivore being an extreme example of an "elimination diet" is exactly my experience Animal meats have virtually everything you need WITHOUT agitating the gut (improving leaky gut BIG TIME), by reducing gut irritation and also, by not feeding the nasty gut bacteria their daily carb feed, they totally calm down, which reduces inflammation and autoimmune symptoms (Psoriasis improves, skin blemishes clears up, brain fog disappears and mood & focus go to another level, along with overall energy levels). Protein is so important for not only building muscles and body tissue BUT also, for providing the amino acids needed to make peptide hormones and neurotransmitters like Serotonin, Dopamine, GABA etc.. The Carnivore diet provides way more bioavailable forms of these vital amino acids and in sufficient quantity to repair and rebuild the gut, the immune system and the brain. Any other sources of protein will struggle to provide the levels of amino acids required for this VITAL repair work Going carnivore, these last few days, is BY FAR, the best thing I've done in my life. Totally worth doing and say good bye to Leaky Gut, Psoriasis, skin blemishes, autoimmune, mood and mind issues)...give it a go, you won't regret it 😁😁

Thank you for sharing this! I'm currently studying nutrition in school and have been practicing it on myself and others who will let me for 8-9 years. I really like this video and I like you as a speaker and a teacher. You've earned a new subscriber 👍 I also read a ton of books about nutrition. Nora Gedguades, Weston Price, Sally Fallon, Terry Whals. And watch other Dr's on youtube. Dr Berg, Dr. Daren Schmidt mostly but I've seen others. I think that the carnivore diet is a very sound diet from all that I've read. And what you go over in this video about nutrient density and structure and anti-inflammatory properties is already well known so that ads more validity. It makes perfect sense to me that this diet could heal many issues if eaten correctly. I'm on my 3rd day in and last night I slept like a baby lol

Great video, I have been implementing a carnivore diet for the last 100 days, and have never felt better. Recently have been craving vegetables and fruits. Over the last few days I started incorporating some plant foods back in, saurkraut, cherries, olives, fresh greens. I started to feel some anxiety creeping back in, old emotional patterns resurfacing. I am sharing this because of what you said about plants being stressors, I completely agree. I will plan on adding very small amounts back in here and there but not to the extent that I have in the past. Thank you again for your insights!

Yeah i guess you just have to keep testing. Remove everything except meat and then slowly try adding one food at a time. That way if you get a negitive response you know what food it was.
@MCLuviin
@MCLuviin 6 жыл бұрын
Slow down with adding new things. you seem to have jumped to adding highly acidic and sweet things and then getting problems. add one thing at a time and start with more basic things before building up to acidic things like sauerkraut or things like cherries. especially if you have not had any on so long you need to build up to things like that. your body is a machine. if you reduce it to run at a set speed and temperature you can't just jack it back up to fullspeed. it will overheat and fall apart. you need to slowly speed it up giving it time to readjust to the things. by giving it time and introducing foods slowly and one at a time you will also be able to tell if you have become hypersensitive to any of them (a known side Effect of carnivore)

Regarding hormetic stressors, it seems clear that we need some amount of stress, but I doubt that we would specifically need the kind of stress that eating plants provides in order to be healthy
@seraph44
@seraph44 6 жыл бұрын
thinkingisthebox hormesis narrows it down to dose. At least when you learn about using plants as medicine, that is what is thought. That's why there is a recommended intake for herbs as well. Xenohormesis takes it a step further, using the chemicals plants produce to activate certain metabolic pathways in the human body without going through the stressor. For example, eating a Jalapeno can activate a metabolic pathway inducing sweating (Diaphoretic), a runny nose, increase temperature. All this without having to go for a run or stand out in the burning Sun. Eating the foods in their normal state (not in a pill) can help guide you in the amount or dose you can consume. Like you wouldn't put a tablespoon of cinnamon in your mouth, your body will tell you it's not good for you, try it. Yet cinnamon has also been researched to lower glucose serum levels among other things. I am excited about this next phase of human evolution. Best of luck to all of us. Let's keep our goal on health and happiness. Time will tell.

I think I heard correctly that you said people with Lyme disease should try the keto diet? I had late disseminated Lyme disease, and went on a keto diet at my doctor's suggestion. It was one of the best things I ever did! I moved away from it over time, ended up with breast cancer. We all know cancer feeds on sugar. Therefore, I went back to a ketogenic way of eating which again changed my life! I've also now tried carnivore and while I love it, I don't know that I want to eat that way all the time. So I went on it for about two and a half weeks, and then just went to a lower plant keto diet. My blood work has changed so much! It was already getting better every time I got my blood work done which is every 3 months. But this time after experimenting with the carnivore diet, it improved by leaps and bounds above what it has done every 3 months over the three years I've been doing a ketogenic diet again.

Loved this video, very detailed and straight forward, lot of good info! I just began my carnivore diet two weeks ago and have had amazing results. My hands and abdomen are no longer bloated/swollen, my psoriasis is clearing up, no more joint pain. My energy is back through the roof, where it used to stay. My muscle mass is gaining again. I used the recommended protein supplements as well and not only lost muscle but gained fat (possibly retained fluid). I've been a meat eater my entire life but decided to try a vegan diet, which I wound up doing on and off for two years with a lot of terrible side effects I'd never experienced but had little to no knowledge about the chemical or nutritional makeup of the plants, nuts, beans, etc. I was consuming. Switching to meat only was pretty easy for me I feel because I'd eaten it so frequently before (with no regard to what it may or may not being doing to my health and felt far better physically and mentally than I ever did eating a predominantly vegan/veggie diet) and everything has been great. That's my experience, anyways. Once again, great video.

More + drawbacks : 1) I got better low carb because I was B1 deficient. Main point for fibromyalgia. 2) it is naturally low in oxalate and make you dump it (in the elimination diet theme). BUT: 1) Low in malic acid, so I am liver flushing now, I got congestion because I was also high in fats. 2) my uric acid increased, but that's also a B1 issue I think. 3) my iron went through the roof in my hair test. 4) My appetite for meat went too low, and I had more signs of hypothyroidism. (I precise I didn't go carnivore for weight loss but guts and muscle pains issues) I started 3 years ago, and both oxalate and B1 issues were not well known. I am now animal based and we need to follow our instinct. Some people Will need to stay carnivore but not everybody.

The statement: “if you need food to make you happy, that is not a good place to be” although simple, it sounds like a revelation. Hormonal hunger would create an endless ciclo: “ I eat because I’m unhappy. And I’m unhappy because I eat”. Self Education is key. You can’t really on most doctors, or the food industry to tell you the truth since they are part of the problem.

But my glucose readings would not come down below 100. I would wake up at 111 or 125 and go up as high as175. Eight days ago (9/10/19) I started carnivore. Yesterday the 17th I hade chicken. Had woke up at 114. Two hrs after eating I was at 143. Four hours after that I was at 179. ? Thought that was strange but then at midnight I was 87. Woke up at 98. First time I have been under 100. Just ate steak today 45 minutes ago. Let’s see what happens. I also had a lot of bloating, gas, burping , and constipation with keto.

No animal in nature would starve himself on purpose. If it was good for us, wouldn`t we have an instinct to do it from time to time? It looks like fasting only works because you give the body a break from all the stuff it is not designed to deal with. People who have been doing carnivore for a long time, all say they experience no difference if they fast anymore and none of them support starvation.

I agree with Dr. Gustin. extended water fasting, up to three werks, repeatedly, did not correct my biome. It did aid wellbeing. I am 3 months into carnivory and it is like magic, never in my life have I felt so good. Now adding a few plants but only what I grow myself, in season. I now suspect from my own years of self-experimentation that fasting is the fastest antidote for carbing, especially on grains. Although an extremely strict keyo regimen can sometimes do the trick, if you can get to the stage where you pee brown gunk for days, thats when your system is flushing the glycation endproducts out of your vessels and kidneys! Magical! I will not willingly return to eating grains or legumes unless literally starving to death, they make me feel like crap.

Keeping in mind Canada's Inuit probably ate a carnivorous diet (meat, fish, perhaps occasional eggs and/or birds) exclusively for thousands of years, because the Arctic does not offer much vegetation in the short, cold summer. This changed during the last 50 years, to the detriment of the Inuit. Some people tell me the Inuit did not live long lives, I don't know if this is true, but it may be considering the several months of the year are continuously dark, temperatures are often around -40°, and they may have to compete with polar bears for food. Life is probably more stressful than living in any city, in the sunshine.

the reason why people feel good temporarily on these diets is because it's essentially an intestinal fast. high protein diets are digested in the stomach and duodenum, and minimally digested in the jejunum, ileum, and colon. Thus those lower GI get a break or reset. It feels good that way. But in general humans are not designed to eat "removal" diets. Variety is health. We are designed to eat a vast array of foods, and more variety equates to healthier GI system and immune system. This is good as a two-week or month-long thing, but I don't think this should be encouraged as a permanent diet.

I eat vegs like once a week and fruits only when it is in season. 13 years now in 30s but I feeling great. Eggs the cheapest protein and my favorite. All my food source is natural. Plus a bonus because I don't drink Alcohol nor smoking. Also I barely eat fast food and processed food. Lets say if I go 100% carnivore for 20 years, there are still other variables that will affect the result, like alcohol intake and smoking which I mentioned before. Heck even lack of sleep could ruin health. So even if it works for me, doesn't mean the same can be said for others. We reap what we sow. We are the ones who decides what is good for our body and health.

Greetings from Canada, I am years young. I have been doing, autophagy and intermittent fasting with keto for a year now and I have seen unbelievable results. This was one of the best informative videos on the carnivore eating plan I have seen. During my autophagy I had amazing things happen. I was diagnosed with a pituitary brain tumor ten years ago, I recently had a Scan done and the results were: There are no residual signs of a tumor. That was after 3, 5-8 day fasts. In fact, the technician phoned my specialist and asked if he had done surgery on my tumor. So keep up with your excellent teaching it was freeing to hear such information that was presented in such an easy way to have a better understanding.

Dr. Gustin: You should check out Stan Efferding's Vertical Diet. It's basically Paleo with rice, potatoes, and some dairy put back in. Like Paleo, it's also a Low FODMAP program. It covers all your macro and micro bases with the whole foods that best get you what you need and you can easily scale it up or down based on whether you are trying to gain mass or lose mass. I feel great and energetic all day, every day. The primary problem with veganism is excessive consumption of high FODMAP foods long term, which are practically unavoidable on that diet as the vegan tries to get in enough food to meet calorie, macro, and micro demand. I've noticed a pattern lately among vegans where they feel the need to exclaim how they've had a great day...today. As if that's a rare occurrence for them, which I suspect it is given my own previous experience going plant based for a brief time years ago.

I don't understand why people, like this man, think it is so easy to do the carnivore diet. Simple is not the same as easy. When I tried the carnivore diet I felt miserable. Just imbalanced like I was missing something. And I didn't exactly feel hungry as much as I felt like I wasn't getting something I needed so I kept wanting to eat ANYTHING other than meat. And I have never been a big meat eater anyway so it just doesn't appeal to me. Very frustrating. There was nothing easy about it. After 3 days I felt so bad I had to quit. I know some of you will say I didn't try it long enough to get used to it. Why would I want to get used to something that makes me feel sick? I am not a vegetarian and I am not against eating meat. I just feel sometimes like some eating trends are so popular people accept them without thinking and if you say it didn't work for you they accept that diet so strongly they will think you are lying. This guy explains things really well though. I just think there are different body types and one diet is not nessesarily good for all.

Evidence from prospective cohort studies indicates that a high consumption of predominantly plant-based foods, such as fruit and vegetables, nuts, and whole grains, is associated with a significantly lower risk of CVD. The protective effects of these foods are likely mediated through their multiple beneficial nutrients, including mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids, omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidant vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, fiber, and plant protein. In addition, minimizing intake of animal proteins has been shown to decrease the prevalence of CVD risk factors. Substantial evidence indicates that plant-based diets can play an important role in preventing and treating CVD and its risk factors. Such diets deserve more emphasis in dietary recommendations.

Thank you for your views! I've never thought about food stressors being beneficial. I've moved low-carb (and during the week keto) years ago and now I've limited my food to just animal products and some green-leaf and nightshade family veggies. So I'd say I'm also at ~90% animal product in my diet right now. I eat a little liver every day because of the boost in micronutrients and I've never had more energy. I work out every other day and cycle to work (=90 miles a week). It's amazing how I only eat twice a day and still gain muscle. Do you think I need some higher plant food meals every now and then for the immune system response? Or do you think the workouts and little plant food I eat are enough?

I appreciate you making people think about this in a more critical and scientific way. It's important to helping us progress and understand more about what is actually good for our health. My question around your experience and hypothesis, is do you think inflammation, based on the idea that it is one of the, if not the biggest threat to our health, a potential root cause of disease, that it's analogous to breaking down muscle cells to grow more muscle? I get the idea, and find it compelling in some ways, but if inflammation is the culprit behind all that ails us as humans, then i cant see how forcefully adding foods that cause it to our diets to illicit that reaction for a stronger immune system makes sense. If we left out veggies permanently from our diets, consuming only animal meats, our most nutrient dense and bioavailable food source, do you believe that our immune systems would suffer and be stunted as a result? It sounds like someone telling me I need to make myself sick so my body can fight off being sick better in the future, when I could just not be sick and continue being healthy. I'd really like to hear your thoughts, again i appreciate you sharing your journey and admit that I may just be looking at all of this wrong. After a month of carnivore, I feel better than I have in the last decade, so figuring this stuff out is important to me.

MDs are trained in pharmaceuticals... Basically, they are trained to diagnose the problem and fit the treatment to which medications or surgery would subdue the symptoms. They have more training on medication than nutrition and lifestyle factors. So, if you want to take numerous medications and have various surgeries vs learn how to prevent or heal the root cause, stick to going to your MD.

I tried a carnivore diet a couple years ago. I felt really good the first couple months, even lost 15 lbs and a lot of fat. After a couple months, I got extreme dry eye and was starting to see double. I think part of the problem was I was eating dairy and maybe went too long. I tried it again a year later, and couldn't even last a month. This time I was ONLY eating grass-fed beef. I'd like to try this again, but maybe I need to refine it more.

I'm a 38 year old undiluted, unapologetic carnivore and I've had the same diet that got me strong enough to win one gold and two silver medals in pro-junior athletics at age 13, just two years after surviving a trauma induced full right hind quarter amputation. What that means is my pelvis was cleanly snapped in half on a 45 degree angle. My coccyx, right butt cheek, right hip and entire right leg were torn off on site, no surgery needed. Nothing my amazing surgeon could do bar put things back as best he could, stitch me up and hope for the best. Anyhow. Given the extreme damage to my bowel and stomach, I needed a colostomy. A plant based diet has never once entered my mind. I ate a good mix of everything, lean meats with vegetables and a dessert. Deep dried English chips with fried eggs and sausages. Steaks, gammon, chicken, beef, lamb, tuna... I've not once changed my diet in 28 years and I never will. I'm healthy as possible in my situation, happy and my brain isn't dying of starvation.

It was either deal with it and move on or be a miserable wretch for 70+ years. Not ganna happen, marra LOL Life wins out every time. Though I do wish I had a quid for every time a vegan has tried to push their fad onto me, using promises of healed internal injuries, I'd be a billionaire! It's like they've purposely ignored what intestinal damage seriously means for somebody and the severe consequences that would, not could, *would* come from eating nothing bar plants and beans.

I also wish you had received a quid for every vegan promise about healing internal injuries. That's simply absurd! Often, people get too hung-up in their head about what diet is *supposed* to help, or *might* help, or helped someone else, etc., rather than just letting personal experimentation and the results speak for themselves. I've certainly been guilty of this, too, over the years. At this point, I've read so much about so many things that I'm now certain that I know nothing about anything! Well, I know that you're a remarkable person!

After being paleo-keto for amost a year, I went carnivore for a couple of months. Then I ended it with a three day fast and reintroduced some fermented vegetables. It made me realize how much better I feel with severely restricting carbs and sugar. Even on a paleo-keto diet, I'm still going to keep my focus on animal foods and be more cautious about which plant foods I include and how often.

Let me reming you all of you that the Twinkie Diet of sweets professor hubbard was following to prove his students calories are everything not only made him lose fat (not muscles, fat) but also improved his cholesterol, his blood pressure, improved his digestion, healed arthritic pain he was having, lifted brain fog. We often forget how powerful even a small amount of fat loss can be in decreasing systematic inflamation in the body and in return improving one's health massively. And yet as a long time calorie count follower I know exactly how restrictive diet decrease calorie count in people. Most carnivore diets of people I have seem claiming fat loss and muscle gain and improve health were at most 1500 calories (counted correctly accounting for the fat loss on the grill and the pan, cooked meat has way less calories and fat than raw one) sometimes 2000, yet they were coming from 3200-3500 calories. They would have lost fat and improved their health even on a 100% sushi diet with those numbers.

Dr. Anthony Gustin you are telling people what to do under your authority of a Dr. It's a free country and you can say whatever. But you just a chiropractor that gives dietary education, why don't you tell us how to pop our necks or lower back so we'd feel better. Go get the ketosis flu, sounds like the right response for a body who eats everything he needs. I suggest you get your dietary information from evidence based information, mass research have been for the past 100 years and continue. Check out some real MD doctors that really change lives and save lives. Check out Dr greger (MD) Channel nutrition facts. But I know your just gonna write a stupid response or ignore. At least people are watching the videos, nothing else metter. I guess your just trying to put the usage of your Dr degree in some practical way to make money which is also legit.

At the end of the day whether you favor plant based or carnivore or omnivore, eat the diet that works for your body. The thing to do is that if you start having problems you may need to take a look at possibly reintroducing foods that have been excluded for a long time. That being said there are people who have been eating carnivore for 10, 15, 20, 30 years with zero plant intake and they are still enjoying vibrant health, so again back to the start do what works for you and don't worry about what everyone else is eating or not eating.
