As a veterinary technician who has been bit/scratched by many many cats, the roommate was totally telling the truth!! They infect very easily and can be crazy painful. Also if you don’t start antibiotics you have a high chance of getting cat scratch fever which can be deadly if not treated.

@anonymixx8106 The actual ingredients were not changed, only the relative fat content. If anything, low fat versions of things usually have more sugar to compensate for the lack of flavor, which arguably makes them less healthy. This cannot be compared to leading somebody to unknowingly eat ingredients that they are allergic or morally opposed to consuming (not to mention people who have been vegetarian or vegan will often get sick if they eat animal products). However, you're taking a chance whenever you eat food prepared by somebody else anyway.

as an owner of several cats, the caller should just pay the urgent care bill. When you get bitten by a cat and it breaks the skin you should get antibiotics, always, you can get reeeally sick and its fairly common. but totally treatable with normal antibiotics. cat SCRATCHES, you should just wash it with soap and water bc their claws are germy but if it feels hot or looks angry, get the antibiotics. if the cat nips people when hes playing its probably no big deal. it hes biting hard, unprovoked, take him to the vet. it could be physical pain or neurological issues causing aggression. the cat could also be displaying body language warning signs that hes getting agressive and a vet could give advice on how to read him.
@avabergren58207 ай бұрын
my cat "bites" when hes playing. when he was a baby he would bite HARD and didnt understand he was hurting me. We got him a friend. For the first caller: anything that says “low-fat” is extra processed and means they had to add extra sugar (whether natural or artificial sugars) to make it taste okay. And sugar does more harm to your body than fat. Just because fat as more calories per gram, doesn’t mean it’s bad. You NEED fat in your diet. Artificial sugar and processed food is soooo bad for you

I am not allergic to cats, and I volunteered with animal rescue for over ten years. However, I did end up in the emergency room from a kitten bite on my finger. It was throbbing, hot, and painful. I felt silly, but the doctor told me it was the best move. I could have lost my finger or worse. Cats' bites can cause serious infections because of the pathogens in their mouths. I still have pets, but do take that seriously. $60 is a drop in the bucket.

For the cat caller-I am allergic to cats and have two that are up to date on all their shots. They are the sweetest, most loving cats I have ever known. I made the mistake of petting one of them, not washing my hands, and rubbed my eyes afterward. This led to me temporarily losing sight in my left eye and I got a fever. My allergic reaction was so swift and scary. I thought I was going blind… it was such a crazy experience. Anyway…I ended up having to go to urgent care for a steroid shot, antibiotics, (and an unnecessary scolding from the doctor for having cats while allergic to them). 🙄 I wish my bill was $60- I believe it ended up being around $260.

Thank you! I visited my college's encampment and it was a wonderful experience. Just remember, the overreaction from university staff and police are to be expected, unfortunately. Never forget that, because it will happen again with the next and the next. And everyone will always scream "I can't believe this is happening". Why? It happened for workers' rights, women's rights, civil rights, Vietnam, AIDS activists, Occupy Wall Street, the pipelines, George Floyd, and now Palestine. This is always how the reaction will be from the people with the power. Use that knowledge. It isn't okay whenever it happens. If you prepare yourself for the inevitable, while everyone else is freaking out remind them that this is always how this works. And until we decide to do something about it, this will always be how it works. Solidarity. That is your campus and these are our streets. We're not free until Palestine is free.

To tack on to the cat scratch fever theory, I will say I have a very mild cat allergy and when a cat lightly scratches me (like barely breaks the skin) it swells up almost immediately. For my husband who has a more severe allergy, if he accidentally gets cat hair in his throat he can get an asthma attack. And yes, it's in their saliva! So a bite would be direct contact with the allergen. I love cats but they be crazy. Side note: insane that she thought she could feed a cat cheese, who had previously tried to bite her.... Just so many levels of no.

Just do you know Miles, different kinds of reactions to an animal allergy can flare up when a bite or stratch breaks the skin. For instance, even a small wound that barely breaks the skin can get all puffy and take long to heal fully. It's also not unheard of to get sick afterwards as well. It all depends on the person. The allergy can be as small as the sniffles but an injury from the animal can get infected fast. I don't blame you for not knowing! You really need personal experience from you or someone in your life to know this sort of thing I feel. It's not really talked about often.

Also why is she feeding a cat cheese??? If its really cat scratch fever pay the bill but set some boundaries with her about how to interact w cats.

Cat allergies in humans are related to the saliva directly...cats clean themselves, then they shed. Also "cat scratch fever" is a thing and people can get really sick from a bite. Why do people in California seem to not know anything about or like cats?! hahaha

Cat Scratch Fever is actually a real thing and comes from a bacteria in the cat saliva. Not to justify the overreaction but it is a thing and doesn’t mean your cat is sick as it’s a normal bacteria for them but humans don’t handle well.
