Maybe The Beach Boys is the band I've listened to the most in my life, in the last 30 years. It's definitely one of the soundtracks of my life. Congrats for the video. Hello from Brazil !!!!

two more great bands massive beach boys fan and my favourite period is the 70s, but love all their stuff, im a huge surf music fan and have way too many surf and drag CDs, i have everything on CD and getting there with the vinyl of the beach boys, also love the byrds but strangely have nothing by them, cool collection as ever, cheers richard

Thanks Stephen, I still prefer the 60's material to the 70's of the Beach Boys. It's the same with me for The Who and The Byrds, the 60's always seems to come out on top.

Hi Richard!!! another cool episode and so nice to see this bands here...... I'm not a Beach Boys fan, just know the big songs from their classic era and the dreadful one from the 80's soundtrack, however it's always nice when one song pops up on a movie soundtrack. cheers and be well

HI Richard. I don't know why but I've never owned any of the early Beach Boys on any format (apart from a best-of). I come in at The Beach Boys Today but only on CD, would love to find it on vinyl one day. I recently found a Byrds twofer (all will revealed at some point!).

Oooo, I can't even think of what the twofer could be!!???

Hi Richard, i have to admit that i do not care for Beach Boys, Lynne has around twenty of their studio albums and i have a compilation and the dreadful 'pet sounds' (but it does contain my favourite song of theirs in God Only Knows), i could probably name all the songs of theirs i like on both hands, just not a fan whatsoever. yet by contrast, im a huge fan of The Byrds as you know and i could name all the songs of their i do not like on one hand and as you also know, Sweetheart Of The Rodeo is my favourite album of theirs. another great video mate, have a good weekend - Lloyd

The Beach Boys' Sunflower is "just ok"? It's their best album! And Notorious Byrd Brothers is The Byrds' best album if not Sweetheart of the Rodeo. The Byrds Greatest Hits was always highly praised as an album on it's own because it was so unified. You missed their last album, their reunion album with David Crosby to keep Gene Clark from touring with a group callinlg themselves The Byrds.

Sunflower would be their best of the 70's in my opinion but as I said in the video, I much prefer 60's Beach Boys.

I streamed Good Vibrations awhile back, somehow it seems longer than the three plus minutes that it is, often the mark of a good song....

Well, I can't speak much for The Byrds, I never got into them except a few of their hits of course, but the Beach Boys....that's a different story. They have been so up and down post-1970 it's scary. I love most of their 60s hits (with one HUGE exception - if I could throw every copy that ever existed of "Sloop John B" into the sun and be rid of it forever, i would be very happy - OMG I LOATHE that song). But the 70s were hit and miss - unlike you, I do like "Sail On Sailor", as well as "Rock and Roll Music". But "L.A." is terrific - picked it up a couple years ago on Chris Propfe's suggestion - and while their attempt at disco with "Here Comes The Night" was an interesting if ultimately failed experiment, "Good Timin'" is brilliant - I've always loved that song. Now, the 1980s were utterly ABYSMAL for the band with two exceptions - "Getcha Back", which is a throwback to the old days, and their oft-forgotten cover of "California Dreamin'", which is my all-time favorite version of that song. And as for "Kokomo" - see "Sloop John B" s comment, and multiply it by 1000 - I absolutely cannot stand that song, and I am convinced to this day that the only reason it was a hit was because it was in a hit Tom Cruise movie - if they had to market that piece of dreck without the film, it would have sunk into oblivion where it should be...AAAAAA! ROTFL! I do like a lot of Brian's solo stuff from the 1980s forward as well. As for the next installment, again, I will be only able to comment on the last half, as I'm not a fan of Dylan as a singer - as a songwriter, yes , but not as a singer, he's not my cup of tea. But Simon and Garfunkel - and what you own solo by them - should be interesting indeed...Cheers, my friend, great stuff as always!

Thanks TC, I honestly never put you down as a Beach Boys Boys fan. I 100% agree with you on Kokoma but 100% disagree with you on Sloop John B lol. I have to say I really do appreciate you following this whole series, so can you reach the end with only 5 videos left? The 2 Bowie videos may be hard going for you but we shall see! 🙂
