Hi Scott, thank you for the great tour! Your furniture building skills are amazing man, I love the western look and designs! Your guitar collection and music room is AMAZING!!!! I think it's great that you like instruments from all over the world, you give credit where credit is due no matter where it was made! Thanks for taking the time for showing your collection and home! I'm also glad you are feeling better my friend!

Scott, I am sorry to hear you are suffering with back problems. I too suffer with extreme spinal damage and I know how difficult it can be to play a guitar when your legs feel weak from the referred pain from the spine. I hope things pick up soon for you. I enjoyed watching this video very much. Like you, I think the Strat Plus is one of the best USA made Fender Stratocasters and I made my humble MIM Strat into a Strat Plus replica after watching your video where you show the Graffiti Yellow one.

"There's enough guitars for all of us, so order what you like". If only more people adopted this way of seeing things Scott! So many people are far too set in theirs ways, 'GIBSON IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO' 'FENDER IS THE BEST OPTION'. Great video my friend! Respect all the way from Scotland.

Hey there old buddy, if you ever decide to cut loose one of those PRS Strats with the stoptail, I hope you'll let me know. I'm a poor old retired guy who's been looking for one for several years now, so I'm guessing we might be able to work out a deal that would satisfy us both. Even if not, I'm really glad to see your new post here. Keep them coming and stay well!

Every time I see that carved strat I wish I'd bought one for myself but living in the UK it wasn't financially viable...the shipping would had been expensive and customs would no doubt have reamed my ass out for import duty....yours looks great, can't wait to see how it sounds and thanks for calling me your friend...that made me feel great. I'll get a decent axe one day...all mine are just ones I've put together myself....one of my dreams is to own a real Fender strat...I'll get one one day

If you're still looking, there's an 'instrument library' (in America) called something like Musiclandria which provides instruments for people who find access to such things difficult. I run a similar thing in Cornwall, England, hoping to help people connect and communicate through music and the arts. I know it's been a few years, but I don't doubt they'd still appreciate any extra instruments. And I didn't notice you'd made an update about your personal condition a few months ago, I'm happy that you're on the mend and can hopefully annoy stupid people for as long as humanly possible! (it's been too long since the tonewood debate has come around again hahaha)

Yeah... I got your reply. I didn't know about the changes with the comments that were made by Google or KZbin or whoever it was that made them. I don't sit on here all day and figure that sort of thing out. But now that I know about that I have (hopefully) changed that. I think you make good points on your videos and I agree with a lot that you have to say, but I don't appreciate being condescended much, especially for something that I was totally unaware of.

groovydjs I was referring to the way the comments were set up, not a specific message. Apologies for the confusion. I was unaware of the changes Google + made to who could reply to comments and whatnot. A couple months ago I could make comments on videos and people could reply, so this must have been something they implemented since then. I was also unaware that you had attempted to respond to my first comment a month or so ago, I just figured that you either didn't get it or didn't choose to respond. I kind of hate technology sometimes. lol

groovydjs Anywho, back to guitars... One thing I really, really agree with you on is how poorly Gibsons seems to be made these days. I was appalled when I played a recent Les Paul Standard at a shop, especially when it lost against an Epiphone of the same model with similar specs. It seems to me that Epis tend to be built of a better quality for the price compared to Gibsons, where you would pay thousands for a guitar that you have to then go ahead and shell out more bucks just to get it in playing order. I know of course that you have to set up everything when you get it, but sometimes the amount you have to invest into getting a well-playing guitar seems a bit ridiculous to me, especially when you're paying in excess of 10 grand or so. One thing I disagree with you on is how the Gibson ES/Epiphone Dot models are. Some are crap, yes. But the Epi Dot Studio I have is wonderful. No fret buzz, no problems in tuning or staying in tune, the electronics are good (even if it does leave a little room for improvement there, but not much). Everything seems extremely solid and it feels great to play. But everyone has their own preferences in what they look for in playing, so to each their own.

@groovydjs
@groovydjs 9 жыл бұрын
nicholas cremato Sorry my friend, this town kicked the Boy Scouts out of this town. The OLD PEOPLE who live here found it bothersome to have them knocking on their doors in gated communities where it is considered illegal for them to do such things. So, the court ruled against the Boy Scouts and they are not allowed in this town anymore. No Shriners here either. You have to understand this town and its moronic Mormon and geezer laws which make it different than anywhere else in the world. You do not get a speeding ticket in this town if you have your MORMON CHURCH CARD (no....I do not carry one). So, people can keep making suggestions (appreciated), but there is HONESTLY not one place to donate things. Of course Trick Or Treating here is not allowed either.

Howdy. I love the SOUND of Strats. I hate the look of them though. If I had it my way, every guitar in the world would sound like a Strat. I'll never do the hollow body thing. I've got one here ONLY because it was left to me after a friend passed away. I can't say that I've ever heard anyone playing country on a hollow body with the exception of Chet Atkins. His stuff was mostly jazz. Not sure how he go labeled as country. lol

Scott, I saw the suggestion about St. Jude - it is a great charity. Also you might look at Ronald McDonald Charities. They offer temporary housing to families with children suffering long hospital stays so parents can stay close to hospitals where their kids are being treated. I've done a lot of work with them over the years - they are wonderful! You might just have a Ronald McDonald house in your area. Good luck!6
@groovydjs
@groovydjs 9 жыл бұрын
c5back9 Thanks, but I don't have either of those charities here. Again, these instruments do not belong to me. I was simply told to give them to a needy, sick kid who lives here. This town has a lot of sticks up their butts and I have struck out with everybody. I would go door to door if I knew who was an aspiring, sickly child musician, but that is impossible information to find out. Even if I did find out, I would probably get arrested for trespassing or something. lol

Scott Udell, you can ask all you want, but I just keep deleting your questions since you don't have your setting set up so people can answer you. Do you see a REPLY option under your question like EVERYBODY ELSE'S? Nope. So, NOBODY can respond to ANYTHING you ask. So, you're asking about ES and Epiphone etc. Yep, had them and hate each and every single thing about all of them. Sure, some people like something about them, but personally, I think they are some of the worst instruments ever made (Especially of the ones that some people consider to be legendary). lol Well, there you go..... JB Red I had seen a couple in just one shop when they were out, which was only for about 3 or so years. Mainly the Alex Lifeson super Strat thing. Another Godin (Canadian) ghost built set of axes. The world really didn't need another Kramer, Jackson,.....well......EVERYTHING looked like that just at that time and then along came Mr. Courtney Love and made everything TRASHY cool. lol So......no hands on with them. They had a hefty tag on them if I remember correctly, but the brand name went away really quickly. I'd grab one at the right price just to have a Floyd equipped, all single coil axe.

William Castleberry Howdy, I love St. Jude's. By the terms set by the folks who made the donations, I was to try to find something local, but I've exhausted everything here. It's like the Twilight Zone or something. EVERY single place I approach has restrictions placed by the state or feds about accepting outside donations. If it were a check, I'm sure it would be a different matter. I guess I just live in a God forsaken hell hole that REALLY does not want to help children. There's nothing here for kids at all anyway. It's pretty much a TON of golf courses, the median age is 67 and it's just a town where old golfers go to die. A Stephen King novel in the waiting. lol

groovydjs I know what you mean. I belong to a motorcycle riding club (Not a motorcycle club, there is a difference). Our charity is St. Jude's. and every penny (via Poker runs and such) we raised went to them. Guess what, Yes the state of KY want their cut. Now if you have corn hole game with cards suites indicated by the emblem printed on the 4 bags and 13 holes (Ace-King) in the board that is 27 ft. away, that is considered skill. The state does not get any because it is a game of skill, but you Take a deck of cards and drop them in a bucket and let people draw 5 cards, now that is a game of chance and the state of Kentucky wants a cut, and then quarterly reports on money taken in by you, even though the money is going to St Jude's. I wish you luck

Mchael Hron Thanks my friend. The back is on its way. The brace is 3 days off now, but I'm still supposed to wear it for lifting anything over 20 pounds from here on out.

DEATHOMEGA69 I'm honestly going to hold off and see how long they last. I won't be getting any of the non Japanese ones. I have yet to see any of THOSE on the market for sale yet.

Would you consider donating the instruments to a correctional facility? The stuff we have there is literally falling apart.

BlinkyTheOwl The gear was sent to me with instructions to try to donate them to sick children only. So, they are not mine at all to make that decision. The folks that donated them have posted on this video and I'll pass this by them though. My house is simply a place for them to be held until I get a "go ahead" from those who donated them. Many thanks and I'm sure I'll be talking to you soon.

Scott the 75 Explorer don''t you think its worth as much as the 64 Firebird got to be a close second I know those 70's Explorers were bringing a pretty penny
@groovydjs
@groovydjs 7 жыл бұрын
I currently have them both up for sale. 15K for the Firebird and 7K for the Explorer. The Firebird is in great shape and the Explorer is in MINT CONDITION, but 6K is the highest offer I received for the Explorer so far. Most folks only want to offer 3K for it. lol I don't think they realize that this one looks to be in better condition than the ones that are rolling off the line today.

I don't have that kind of money but the price seems fair to me especially the Explorer that could be 10 all day.

Why haven't you done a distressed wood guitar body?
@groovydjs
@groovydjs 9 жыл бұрын
ArriCAT5e Oddly enough, I'm not fond of distressed guitars, but, that's all I do in the furniture world. lol I do actually have a guitar that I'm going to do that to. I'm going to do come relief carvings in the top and then distress it out.

Where did you get the chrome cover for the Lyon guitar? I'm trying to find chrome covers to put on my Dimarzio humbuckers. I know Dimarzio makes chrome open coil humbuckers, but my pickups are pretty new so just want a cheaper route to go at this time, so covers could work for me.

Cool. You have a lot of really cool axes!! I'm slowly building my collection. Mine are mostly Korean made but all of them play amazing. I'm currently trying to switch over to "roller everything" as you say, and switch tuners and ditch string trees and such. Do you have any tips on wiring guitars? I have a strat that I'm wanting to wire up like your white custom guitar and get rid of all knobs and such but not sure how to go about it. Any help is appreciated. Rock N Roll!!!

crazyelvis3577 Cool my man. If you want to do any of the no volume knob or no tone knob things, simply remember to put the same resistance in line as would be if it had those there and same with the capacitor for the tone pot, even though they aren't REALLY being used, those being in line make a huge difference rather than just running everything straight to switches and the output jack.
