Hi Scott! Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I love all those Norlin Gibsons and interesting Fender models and styles. Many thanks. These were gathered over about 6-7 years is all. I pay for them with the money I make by selling music lessons online. It's great never having to give lessons to real people face to face or via Skype or anything. All are downloads, DVD's, CD ROMS, Flash Drives or External Hard Drives that they buy from my site. It's a great way to rake in the money.

Yeah, I love those Mighty Mite pickups. I couldn't believe how great they sounded. I almost didn't do the modification and was going to keep both axes as they were. But, I'm so very happy with both of them now. So, I'm glad I did the mod and that you are enjoying those groovy pickups. Too sweet!

Thank you so much my friend! People will always hate. It's in their nature. If I don't have a Rickenbacker or Gretsch in my collection (since it's the only guitar they own), they feel the need to leave the negative. Folks never grow up, nor do they get any smarter. lol Thanks again!

Very cool my friend. I can't wait to see the V. My 7 string V will never come to me. So, I have to find someone else to build it now. After waiting over a year....it's a dead issue. It was done except for getting the bridge in black, now it's not going to happen since Anderson went into retirement. I hope yours turns out just the way you want it!

Thanks so very much for the video my man! That Heartfield is too cool! I've been looking at the Talon's recently. I haven't seen the one you have. I really like it and would like to grab one and the double pickup model too. Everybody that has had a Heartfield has always bragged on them. I think the little overdrive is kind of cool too. Anything different is cool. I'm so jealous that you got the Peavey for such an AMAZING price! Way to go! If you see any more RR's, Please let me know!!!

Thanks Michael. I agree. I'm not a big natural finish fan either. One of the Viper III's just sold on eBay this morning (natural of course). You can find TONS of natural Peavey axes too, it's the cool finishes (in great condition) that are so hard to find.

It's nice being able to take some time off from doing covers, so I can work on a few licks as well as walk ups and walk downs. I'm am having a blast playing guitar. I got my first guitars when I was 9. My first one was a '58 Les Paul. Then, about 2 months later, I landed a '61 SG shaped Les Paul and a '64 Epiphone Coronet. They were so cheap back then. Both Les Pauls cost $300.00 each and the Epiphone was only $75.00 It was crazy what you could get stuff for back then. Nothing was collectable at all, nothing was sought after, prices were low and you could have anything you wanted for next to nothing. I miss those days. lol

Many thanks my friend. Yeah, those Strat Plus' are so cool! I actually did give a few away in some drawings on my website. Sad thing is that I simply asked the winners to send me a picture of them with their new guitar to post on the site. Not one single person did and not one single person said thanks or that they had even received them. lol Gotta love people. lol

Dear Scott, First off, amazing collection. I watch you videos all the time, and simply love this one. Now, I liked your little "home for the wayward guitar" speech at the end of the video, and I honestly feel the same. My entire family and I try and snatch up any guitar that is in decent condition at yard sales and such, and I even have some great pawn shop finds (your Stagemaster 7, for one). I truely love all 14 of my guitars, and would never part with any of them, and I guess what I'm trying to say is it's nice to see another "home for the wayward guitar" out there. Much love and respect from Quebec. :)

Oh, but one more thing; I know that the current Backpackers are of inferior quality, as they're no longer two pieces of wood (excluding the fretboard), but several. The first two models from the 90's were two piece of wood, the neck and sides being one, and the soundboard being another.I own one from '98 and if you get a chance, get an older one. I'm sure you'll find that the tone is much, MUCH better. Peace :)

Thanks my friend. I have only grabbed up the groovy Taylor and the Autographed, older Axe bass. But as far as serious guitars....I keep looking and I have yet to find any clean versions of what I'm after. Trying to find something that isn't beat to hell or hasn't been molested at all is just tough. I've searched Gruhn's and EVERYTHING they get in....they "RESTORE" it. lol They would fail the blacklight tests big time. lol So, it's a lot harder search than I thought it would be. lol

Thank you for doing this...amazing collection! This video has encouraged me to look at other makers besides Fender & Gibson (though my favorite guitar now is a MIJ Fender Telecaster, probably an late 80's version). I passed over a Peavy, Ibanez but now won't make that same mistake again. I have a late 70's Ovation Breadwinner (white) as well. Unfortunately someone changed out the original pickups and put in some Gibson Humbuckers but you are exactly right, they are amazing players.

Hey my good friend, nice looking guitars. Maybe one day i'll have a room full of guitars. I'm still working on Christine's song. I'm just taking it slow and not trying to force things with the song. I don't know if I told you this the other day or not, but Christine and I are working on a song that were gonna do a cover on. I'm working on several songs and working on learning walk ups and walk downs to make my strumming sound better. Well, take care my good friend, Scott

LOL, I hear you on that "OLD" thing! I can't believe how fast it sneaks up. Yeah, I have always loved the Caddy shape and finally got one made the way I WANTED. I have to find me somebody to start making some more custom axes for me. I have a LOT of them that need to get made. It's hard to find someone that doesn't take a couple of years to make one. It's crazy out there. They have to do them MY way, but MY way usually doesn't agree with THEIR way, so they refuse to do them. CRAZY! lol

Thank you my friend. I hop that degree will afford you all of the SG style axes you hear can hope for! Hopefully you'll get famous and just have all of the signature models you can handle just given to you. Always play that one right by having each interested company make you a prototype so you can make your decision on who go with. Then you'll get a bunch for free up front. lol

I hear you. I've actually had more than a few necks come unglued from my SG's over the years. Not a great design and not great glue. I've always found that glue will dry out and eventually just give out. Bolts or screws.....never. All furniture that I've built over the years...always ends up being screwed together at some point since the glue ( no matter how strong and well jointed and clamped), will always peter out. lol

I enjoyed the trip very much. It really took 2 hours, wow didn´t noticed. Great to see you´re not into that vintage thing ( I already knew that before) but more into the really important changes Gibson and Fender made during the 70s,80s and 90s. Cheers, Robin :o)

I've got a couple of those. They are both from 1975. I paid $600 for one and $800 for the other. One had the case and the other didn't, so....either way, I got a good deal on them both. It's not easy to find the sunburst ones.

I have no idea how any of it stays up. Everything on the walls are just in the drywall too. Nothing is hitting a stud. Only the ceiling mounted 2X4's are stud mounted. They are each put in with 4 of the biggest screws I could find with a ratchet wrench head on them. Then I just put very large washers on them to in order to distribute the weight a little better with those chunks of wood. So far, so good. I hope we never have and earthquake!

Thanks my friend. Yeah, there were some strange and short lived ones for sure. They ended up being my favorites because of the great guitars that they were, not because they were obscure. So, it was great to run across them and find ones that were actually "ME" and that I would actually use. A lot of fun stuff there for sure. Thanks again. Scott

Hey Scott. I got my intonation setup the right way. The reason why it wasn't working is because I had my bridge set to high up. So I lowered it until I got all of them intonated the way you thought in the video. I made a short video of it. I will upload it today.

I would have no idea. I don't know of anybody that really collect the 80's Kramers. I know that a ton of people have very large collections of the Aluminum neck Kramers. I'm just looking for a couple of Charvels. I want another Model 1A and a Spectrum. The little Charvette guitars were very cool too. I had about a dozen of them in all of the bright, neon colors and all had the 3 single coils in them. Cool stuff. I really don't know anybody that has tons of the other Kramers though.

Very cool my friend! I hope you land that '79 too! They are superb axes and my all time favorite Strat year. You could easily improve that music store by simply setting up all of the guitars with about 5 minutes of work for each one. Make them PLAYABLE, then they sell themselves if they play good. Lower those pickups and just make that garbage 10X better than anybody ever sets them up. Being in tune when they are picked up is a total plus too! Just little things to consider. CONTRATULATIONS!

Yeah, I HATED the Highway 1 and sold it right away. I really loved the Ibanez Ergodyne basses too. Just no room to keep them all. So, I have to keep selling things when I want something else. So, it's time to sell a couple dozen more because I need the space for new stuff. I don't have much that I WANT to sell, so it will be so sad to see some go. I have to get a couple of Firebirds and another PRS 513 and another Charvel etc.

Yeah, the Firenza line is pretty extensive in that they have each model in 2 different lines. I like that the dual humbuckers do the split thing. That's always great, but when you get to the S/S/H, the humbucker doesn't split. Always made me scratch my head. Then there is the super cheap versions of both and the mid grade and even the super high grade. So, it would depend on what kind of music you were playing and what you were willing to spend on them. But, the Firenza's CAN be great.

Yeah, M. Friend always sends the right ones. I get a lot from Ebay, they are cheaper than M. Friend. You have to ask them on Ebay since most of them use stock photos....so, make sure that they have the Polyweb Anti-Rust strings. They generally sell for a couple bucks less per pack on Ebay. Plus if you REALLY want to save, you can buy from Gore (Elixir) in major bulk. Then you can get them at $6.00 per set.

Yeah, that's what I have to go with in a live situation. Most bluegrass venues are just old school 57's on all the instruments and 58's on vocals. Most of the musicians are used to them and have never heard of any other mics, so they like to stick with what they are familiar with. lol

The current collection is at near 200. I've had a couple thousand over my life. The money I've spent on the ones that are currently here is only in the half million range if I were to take a guess. Nothing terribly expensive since I'm not attracted to any of the high dollar axes. They don't have what I look for in a guitar. So a bunch of working man style axes fits me much better. Thanks for asking.....unless you're looking to steal them. lol

Awesome collection! Hey Scott, I have an early 90's (91 or 93) and it's a factory standard with gold hardware. The color is the deepest brown with slight red metal flake that you can only see under bright light. Also, the brown looks black and you can only tell it's brown under bright lights as well. Do you know anything about these? I appreciate your help, and wicked guitar collection Scott!!

Is that another Squier that sneaked into the video when you were showing the Fred Newell guitar? Is it also the Hello Kitty?

thanks for sharing......please let me know about these questions. Is hanging your guitars rather then keeping them in cases cause issues? Is your environment temperture controlled? Is not playing your guitars (ie SCOTT CHINERY scenario, too many guitars and did not play them) cause issues? Thanks

almost totally agree about the G&L ASATs though I have a newer (2004) ASAT Special (blonde with black pickguard) that I custom ordered. I ordered it because I owned an almost identical ASAT Special in 1996 that I foolishly sold despite it being the most comfortable (for me) guitar. It was a 3 bolt from sometime in the 80s. I was a little disapointed to find that the new G&Ls switched to 4 bolts but I mean, still a great guitar. 3 pickups don't bother me as far as picking goes. just not my preference. I never use middle pickups so why have them? Not my taste but I totally understand your logic on the more tonal options point. ... but yea the ASATs are pretty much the perfected Telecaster ... no knock on Teles, of course.
