Honestly, clean, I like the stock neck pickup better than any of the Fishman neck tones. Add in the fact that you could have split the stock neck pickup to north coil, south coil or HB and it probably would've given it an even better run. I do think the stock bridge pickup was pretty flat sounding though.

Love this! I bought a 10S custom TL (tele). Single bridge pickup with one volume knob. Mahogany with black ash veneer and ebony fretboard. It started as a tele version of the ESP Black Metal series which didn't have a tele shape option, and we played with the design from there. They offered really cool suggestions and I'm happy with it still after about 18 months. I'll probably throw a Duncan Super Distortion in at some point. The pickup is ok, but I kept the electronics simple because it makes it easier for me to learn how to do it with 3 fewer pots :)

Great video, man! I loved watching this. To answer your last question, I am working to add new pickups to my 2016 Ibanez Iron Label S series (not even going to attempt the model number from memory). The guitar comes with DiMarzio PAF 7s but I'm not in love with them. So I'm installing Seymour Duncan Nazgul and Sentient Pickups. I'm excited to hear the difference. Thanks for being awesome. Funny you ask. I just bought Hipshot locking tuners with industrial tuner buttons, a Gotoh GE1996t trem, black Hipshot O ring knobs, and a set of Seymour Duncan Triple Shots. I needed to upgrade my Dean Modifier. I'm also gonna de-gloss the neck for that smooth satin feel. I put Hipshot locking tuners with industrial tuner buttons, the Triple Shots, and Seymour Duncan Black Winters in my other Dean Modifier as well. I also de-glossed the neck on that one too.

What am I working on, Hunter? Last week, I got a Glarry P-Bass-oid. I haven't done anything to it yet; I'm waiting to let the wood acclimate to the weather here in my home town. I bought it because I thought I might get away with less upgrading. This model is their Professional II series P-Bass, with a bone nut and a Wilkinson split-coil pickup. I'm planning to replace the tuners and bridge ... and maybe the string tree. A couple of weekends ago, I soldered a pair of Epiphone Alnico Classic pickups into my 2001 Ibanez RG220B. The result is FANTASTIC! I wanted the sound of an Epi Les Paul Plus Top Pro/FX that I played at Guitar Center years ago. I wanted to buy that guitar, but you guessed it: No money. The guitar got away (and those who bought them apparently like them VERY well, because they don't seem to be prominent on the used market), but I remembered the tone. After some years, I bought a pair of those pickups online and finally got them into the RG. KILLER cleans, great distortion sounds! Clean sounds are VERY important to me since I'm a blues/blues rock/funk/soul/jazz player ... and all those genres require great clean tones most of the time. I've also got a Glarry Strat-oid that I just put a single-coil-sized humbucker into. I never did like Strat bridge pickup sounds very well; I prefer a bridge humbucker. This one actually had me excited to play a clean rhythm part using it! Sorry to hear you aren't really knocked out by those new Fishmans. Your disappointment recalls the reason why I don't care for most signature model guitars, etc. These things are intended to satisfy one person's sonic needs. I am a different person with different needs. Instead of buying someone else's sig model, I'm trying to rebuild existing guitars into MY sig models! I've got two real success stories so far. They're heavy now, though. Not for playing out -- but I don't really do that anymore. I am trying to leave the Glarry Strat-oid lightweight, so as to have a "stage guitar", as if I'll need one. Anyhow, that's what I'm working on. Keep rockin', kid -- 'cause I WILL!😎❤️️🎸‼️

That Guitar is gorgeous. I just ordered a set of Seymour Duncan Custom Shop Eric Steckel Signature "Candy" pickups in Gold which are new and sound totally AMAZING in any demo I've seen.. and a 2011 SG Standard I found with an actual Goldtop finish, with Gold hardware which is weird for an SG but it's so gorgeous. I added Graphtechs new locking ratio tuners.. also Gold with matching Gold Invisomatch mounting plates. So yea this guitar is gonna be Gold as F*ck with Gold coming out its.. well.. you know. This will be my second Gibson and I'm psyched.

Currently modding a D'Angelico Premier DC: Already swapped the import hardware for hipshot open gear locking tuners, Graph Tech resomax bridge, and tonepros locking tailpiece. My Lindy Fralin Pure PAF pickups just arrived the other day and my 920D wiring harness is arriving today so electronics is next. Also waiting on my new nut from graph tech which will be here next week.

I actually modded a guitar for the first time this month :) had an American performer strat that I wasnt meshing with anymore, so I shoved in an emg daemonum bridge pup and an emg slv single coil in the neck. Replaced the electronics with a single volume knob and a 3 way toggle switch. The thing rocks Edit: and chugs

I mean, I've been using it a ton because I LOVE the sound. It's super dark compared to most high-gain amps, but still so clear and defined. The only reason I haven't made a video is it has so many freaking knobs and switches I really haven't figured out what everything does yet lol

Well since you asked: Im debating wether to mod my 70's style mexi strat or my 2011 Gibson SG. They're both exciting, just in differentwmays. The SG is one of the ones with the baked maple fretboard, and the cream color looks pretty awesome. So investing some money into changing the frets (which were trash from factory) and that terrible nut get me pretty hyped to finally have it feel like it should. I also swapped the bridge for a Dimarzio Super Distortion years ago which I've regretted ever since, so Id probably swap that with a Duncan 59 Custom Hybrid. The strat on the other hand I bought second hand and the poly finish was starting to crack, so I sanded it down and sprayed a really thin layer of light pink car paint and honestly...it looks awesome, I only used two coats so you can actually see the wood grain without the color itself being see through. I also set it up with duncan antiquity single coils and that clean/crunchy sound is to die for. Unfortunately, the 17th-21st frets are practically dead and the bridge, saddles, and tuners are rusted to hell and perform horribly. It'd be a pricier process (I intended to replace the neck with a warmoth maple neck) but the end result would be a guitar that's truly unique to my collection. Oh yeah...love your channel btw! 😂 And if any of you guys wanna help me choose that'd be cool too!

I have a harley benton SC400, which I love (especially for the $30 I paid for it used off a craigslist purchase). I've been wondering whether it's worth replacing the pickup, it does seem particularly bassy to me (I have tried to set up the pickup distance a bit further off and turn down the low end on amp sims I use). Not sure if your experience with lower tier HB pickups is similar.

Damn missed the original review . these 10s guitars have a lot of good reviews . Especially for the money . Really decent hardware despite the pickups . One thing I can’t master is pickups . Ive put same pickups in different guitars and have completely different tones and sounds . So any guitar i buy . I just anticipate on a 250-300 pick up swap. I’ve put same invaders in 3 different guitars and have only one that it just sounds perfect in . Everyone seems to just toss these fisherman fluencies in. With no complaints ... I really have to try a set see what the hype is .

KZbin's compression (paired with my cheap ass eaphones...) really hadn't done much justice to the new pups with all that distortion going on, but once you get into the clear tones: heck yeah! Those pickups definitely have opened up the tone by a lot, and it's amazing how far active pickups have come to, for someone who plays only passive pickups and the only experience with actives has been bitter with the infamous EMG 81/85s sounding so dull when clean.

looks great. this kind of headstocks suits well the 7 strings-tuners (4:3). the pickups sounds good. I still prefer emgs. you should buy new knobs. there are some cheap available on thomann, amazon, almost everywhere;-)
