The problem wasn't the Antium settle, it was the deliberate spice tile purchase which hurt the preserve placement. And then the later settle where he purchased a rain forest tile that killed herson's appeal for his other preserve. Now, to the other guy's benefit, Herson is terrible at reading chat 😅
@Krahhl2 күн бұрын
Rome was absolutely a noob, but I don't think he was trying to be aggressive on purpose. He's just entirely focused on his own simming and not thinking about Herson's POV. Antium was in that location to capitalize on the marshes with his pantheon and Etemen- well, the idea was there. Still, his defense was atrocious and he definitely deserved to die. Won't learn from his mistakes unless he gets punished for them.
Reading the comments in game asking why war and everyone going hmmmmm aggressive forward settle and deliberate preserve spoil….. was great

@lloydabsolon81612 күн бұрын
@@Ocean_Man205 It appears that he grew into it naturally at 16:12. However, at 18:02 he asks if Herson’s preserve culture bomb would take the tile from him if he bought it. So, he definitely knew what he was doing.

I think it's easier to count districts in city production tab. They are all literally there. Greyed if you cannot build due to population but still present. The only exceptions are purple Government Plaza and Diplomatic Quarter, so it's easier to open city with GP (or keep in mind that).

18:04 wouldn’t the culture bomb steal the tile anyway? I think that’s how the base game works but I could be wrong.
@HersonCiv22 сағат бұрын
There are actually two types of culture bombs in Civ 6: "Strong" culture bombs which steal tiles (Poland's ability, World Congress resolution, Australian Pastures) and "weak" culture bombs which can only claim unowned tiles (Preserves, Gaul's ability). Most culture bomb effects are "strong" and can steal tiles from other players, but unfortunately preserves are not one of them.

Does bbg change warrior monks at all? They're notoriously awful in vanilla civ 6 and I'm genuinely curious if they're buffed at all. There would be zero demand for them anyways at least in ffa because of how unpopular early game war is but maybe if they were actually good they would see use in teamers or 1v1s.
@juubes9962 күн бұрын
From what he said, apparently they gain +1 combat strength for every civic learned up to the Industrial era, so they fall off at modern but get pretty buff at the midgame
@juubes9962 күн бұрын
Oh wow and it's way more than that. They're counted as melee units, so they benefit from every bonus that affects the Warrior tree and Encampment exp buffs, and they synergies with battering rams and siege towers. They can be purchased at Shrines instead of Temples too, so they can be bought immediately when you found a religion. Not bad at all tbh
@pikazilla64052 күн бұрын
@@juubes996honestly though for a unit that requires you to have an otherwise useless religion belief that's still pretty underwhelming to be given a unit that can't scale late game. You're giving up things like zen meditation choral music ect to run this, generally useful abilities that can serve you the entire game and also don't require you to go to war to get value. If the monks had other utilities, similar to the legions ability to build forts or chop features, maybe that would make them more serviceable.
@davidaugustofc2574Күн бұрын
@@pikazilla6405 you're not giving up anything if your religion is one of the last to get founded, you have a lot of faith but missed monumentality. They're fairly good units for a culture Civ like Brazil.
@pikazilla6405Күн бұрын
@ even if it's one of the last there's basically nothing that really justifies dedicating a religious belief to something that gives literally zero late game value when every single other belief provides something late game other than reliquaries when not playing poland. Work ethic is another great example of a much preferred belief. Tempo is great and having an early game war advantage is situationally good but if tempo is the goal then why are you putting all this work into a religion when your time and production could go elsewhere such as wonders.
