If my kid didn't fall asleep until dawn, well, guess what? We're still getting up at the normal time, and you'll get a calm, reassuring "I know you're tired. I hope you make a different choice tonight and sleep in your own bed, otherwise, you're going to be quite tired for a while." No naps, we're getting up at the regular time. As a side note, I wonder if giving the daughter a night light, a bedtime routine, and a comfort object would have helped.

She sucks her thumbs, which indicates some anxiety. But that in fact may come from lack of independence with mom. Also she said she doesn't get much cuddles unless it's at night. So I agree that there are other adjustments required, but I think she's right to take a more severe approach.

@@cordeliaface Ikr? Honestly these kids having the parental skills of today applied to them are just being destroyed by it. If anything the loss of one parent is even more excuse for stricter discipline to keep things running like a well oiled machine. The parent just has to bite the bullet and do what's needed, NOT what makes the temporary peace by giving in!

@@cordeliafaceMy daughter is six years old, has a night light, a favourite cuddly toy, lots of outdoor exercise during the day, a quiet bedtime routine and a room that we painted in the colours of her choice. And still she thinks a monster will come for her every time I leave her there. What's more, I still remember vividly that I felt exactly the same way at her age. She is intelligent, sensitive and imaginative and all the stories she has ever heard combine at night to create the ultimate nightmare. It wasn't power play when I crawled into my parents' bed at that age, it was sheer terror. Needless to say, I've never bothered to buy a TV and I stopped reading fairytale stories to her. I won't let her read Harry Potter until she's ten at least or MY night's rest will suffer for it. If she falls asleep in my bed by herself before 9:30 I feel a sense of achievement and I'm sweaty from the battle we've fought over it. I definitely won't go to bed with her as I work all day and have to do housework by night but that is about as much as I am fit to fight for at this point.

Its Not always a Bad habit. To kick off that much at that age... there might be another reason. Anxiety, abuse... she shares with her sister, maybe there is a problem, parents are divorced, god knows why and how that went. Childrens behavior is a Symptom of the circumstances they live in. So yes of course you parent them but you should adjust structures and your own behavior as well.

Dad and mum split when I was 9 months, and I can 100% say my sleeping issues stemmed from trauma and genuine fear of being left alone forever. Watching Grandma deal with Paige was so sweet! That’s why the kids throw tantrums because they know they can wear the parent out. However, my mom would simply give me a look and if I still acted out she would make me leave the store immediately.

I think the girls want an opportunity to dress up and feel special. If families had parties and events to attend it would give them an outlet. My 6 year old niece loves make up and dress up so when have dinner dates every month or two where I dress her up very pretty dresses and give her a tiny bit of blush and lip gloss and she loves it. Also Church is a great place to have girls dress up and be made a fuss over for dressing up. The desire isn't the issue it's the outlets. Find a positive outlet and get them on the right track.

I have a very real question I hope some will answer in a kind manner. I have had major sleep issues with my 5 year old. I find it so hypocritical to demand/expect him to sleep on his own when, as adults, we share beds with our husbands/wives each night. Is this mostly a societal expectation that demands children sleep alone? Or does it truly harm a child to co-sleep? Does it harm children in the long-term? I know I likely don’t get the best sleep when I’m in bed with my child, but after three years of fighting it… I’m learning to rest better (most nights). What’s your thoughts?

Co slept with both kids. My husband and I truly enjoyed having that snuggle time with them. They were out of our bed by 2 but still slept in our room in another bed. And have graduated to their rooms with no fighting, crying or being scared. Everyone just needs to find out what works for their families. ❤️

I was literally just going to say the same thing! All 3 of my kids, who are all adult now, slept in their crib in their room from day one, no bassinet next to my bed or in my room...nothing. I'm not saying people shouldn't use a bassinet in their room, I just found it easier to start the their crib so there was no transition.

@phynchen8139
@phynchen8139 2 жыл бұрын
So you'd destroy her clothes because they displease you. Are you aware that it'll only push your children away from you? Instead of telling you where they'll go, they'll sneak out and you'll be left wondering where they are and if they're safe. And what will you do then? Bar their windows? Good luck. Instead of reacting like an angry teenager, be an adult and communicate with them. Make sure that when they go out they're safe and responsible. Set limits that are understandable. And try to get over the types of clothes people wear. At one point women weren't allowed to wear trousers or show their ankles. It's just silly.

Sorry, if u don't know how to raise a child without them turning into a entitled bimbo.. 🤣🤣🤣 If my kids want to dress that way then they can, AFTER they move out of MY home.. As long as I'm paying for their cloths, paying for everything they have, ITS MY CHOICE & they understand this & are amazing PEOPLE today.. They dress properly, have love for animals, love for others, and have jobs.. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤪🤪 Guess I got this 👍

@@ilonayagudayeva9611 the mom was getting no sleep. Plus she needs some grown up time in the evening to recharge. The mom's health and wellbeing is important, especially if she is to have the energy and health to be a good mom. I mean, what if she gets a boyfriend one day or something too? Paige can't sleep in her bed then. Paige was just having a tantrum because she wasn't getting her own way for the first time ever and she was very determined to get her own way. She didn't die and she knows her mother still loves her. The one I feel bad for is Poppy having to try and sleep through all that.

She can still teach her child to dress appropriately and that it's not necessary to show off as much skin as possible to be beautiful. That's for her self esteem and a life skill, if nothing else. Plus not every boy is going to have a great parent who teaches those things so caution is needed.

@@MsJubjubbird it's this idea that certain outfits are considered appropriate while others aren't. There should be no say on what is and isn't appropriate. Everything is appropriate. Clothing doesn't matter.
