If she initiated the break up, I wouldn't be able to take her back. Just the thought that if she had her way, she would have wanted it to work out with that other guy. It didn't, but no worries, she's got you as a back-up. But I know that emotions are involved so you may feel like you can taker her back, but I just couldn't. Now, if you broke up with her, then that's a different story. You broke up with her and the other man was her way of moving on. Totally different angle.

What if your ex is 1) playing by her best friends playbook and only intends to make contact after a long time so I can move on and we can become friends and 2) her friend is acting as a mediator to determine when I am ready to re-engage my ex? I don't want to sound like I am preaching or lecturing, each to their own. But if an ex (even if it was a short story that there wasn't too much involvement) reaches out after it was their decision to leave or end, always keep both feet on the ground. Cause you never know why they are contacting you. Sometimes they are just looking for attention or an ego boost. If you ask to meet up and they start to find excuses, it's better just to say alright and move on.

Hi Craig. I was dating a guy for 3 months who was initially just looking for sex and fell in love with me. We didn't have sex cuz I wasn't interested in casual sex. After 3 months he said he loved me, but felt like if we continued the way we did it wpuld become a relationship. This is someone who insisted on meeting my sister when she visited and introduced me to his friends and called me his girlfriend when he was drunk. After that we went through three months in which he was chatting to/seeing other girls and lying to me about it + he kept swinging from telling me he wanted to do everything to fix our relationship to the next day saying he thought it was never wonna work out again after the damage he caused to the relationship. The last time he said he didn’t wanna see me again I said okay and started no contact a few days after (as I didn’t wanna her from him anymore). this sounds like something I heard from another coach called "Radio Silence" if they reach out contact, you respond but give them a smaller response than the message they sent you. For example: Hey whats up" you say "nothing much" have them give more and you give less. They just now started now wanting to want to talk to me being upset that I've ignoring them by sending to mutual friends to get me to talk to them. Yet they blamed me that I'm just as guilty for that reaching out to them. What was hard for me is that their message was about thinking I don't want anything to do with them anymore and they gave up. But I did respond & I had a long conversation yet what do next when they send me another message within the next week or so?

Received a text from my ex after just 8 days. She asked if I was doing ok and she was saying "It seem like I was having a good time judging on my IG pics". She also was asking with a shy smile emoji asking if I need my shirt back LOL! I told her that I am enjoying myself as I would have with her. Advised her she does not need to return it after all I still wear her bracelets she gave me for my birthday. She was said she was glad. We will meet up for a drink at her place when she does not have the kids (not my kids btw). So I did not expect it to be this soon.

My wife whom I'm currently separated from,& ive been in no contact with for about a week or so after being told to leave her alone & she didn't want to talk to me. Called my phone while I was asleep, it woke me up after maybe the third ring. Once I saw it was her # I allowed it to ring on out with no answer (about 7rings total). About a minute later she sent a text saying she had dialed the wrong #, to which I didn't & haven't responded to either. This was all on Monday, it's now Friday with no contact from either side since. I think the theory behind the 30 day contact rule is "it works". But that isn't the point. Just because something works doesn't mean it's a good idea! It's such an eye for an eye, low frequency way of handling such a complex situation. I love you guys coach Craig and coach Margaret!

Coach Craig, I have an interesting question, I believe. My ex-gf broke up with me three weeks ago. I immediately went into NC (out of pure intuition, because I did not know what it was back then ). After two weeks of "radio silence" on my side, she shoot me a whassap that only said: "hey". Yeah, "hey", not the message of her life... is she trying to reach out but she is being cautios? or this is just a trick to check whether i am still available because she is starting to feel the loss of the break-up? Gary Holloway oh he's a guy, but I ended up just feeling worse and worse for ignoring him, and ended up messaging saying 'sorry I didn't reply, I was ill (actually really depressed and missing you loads but obviously I didn't say that) and needed space, hope things are good.' He replied within an hour saying something like 'okay, things are good thanks, hope your better' I didn't know what to say again, I 'ignored' him for another two or three days, before I sent a message back saying something like 'okay, and yeah a little better thanks 😇'. But now it has been about a week. No reply. Not even read the message. So he's ignoring me now. Don't know if it's some sort of payback for ignoring his messages (whether I meant it or not). And he's just enjoying life from the looks of things. Lots of friends now. Parties. Back at college. I wouldnt be surprised if he's thinking he is better of without me after all. I'm just at home, bad family environment & things happening, missing him, want him back, bad sleep pattern, etc. So my advice is. Do. Not. Ignore. Her. Maybe leave it a day at most to reply. Keep watching these videos, even if the title doesn't apply to you you can learn things. If you feel you need space yourself and are still hurting, then maybe ask for space or say you can't message right now. But do not ignore like I did. Right now I feel like there's no chance of us getting back together ever again. I feel he has moved on. I don't know what he wants. He might not even want to be my friend. He has enough friends now as it is. Do not ignore her. Hope this helps 😊

Hi, I could do with some advice. My ex started dating someone new really quickly, like within two weeks of us splitting up. Originally I back away due to some verbal abuse from her daughter and also my ex, I took time away, about four weeks. We then met for a coffee and tried to sort things, thinking maybe we could try again. But then I found out she was seeing someone new. So I went no contact after a few weeks, I did all the usual begging and pleading. So now my question is, I keep doing the no contact and each time I do this, after a week or so my ex then sends me a text asking if I am ok and how are things etc... Obviously I respond, not straight away, I leave it a good few hours. We usually text back and forth and its just chit chat. I have asked to meet up for a coffee to talk but she says she is happy at the moment and does not see the point. Too much damage has been done etc etc… So what do I do?...I know she will text again sooner or later, I want to have her back but I also need to move on, I don't want to be the back up guy..can you do a video on this sort of thing. It's like living in limbo land. I miss her terribly and would do anything to get her back but if she is happy with this new man, what more can I do. They went away on holiday and within a day of coming back she text me!...if things were so great why is she messaging me?...any help or tips would be great. Now I'm not sure what to do. For a few weeks, every few days I get the "how are you" message always at some odd hour of the morning when I'm in bed. I've been following the no contact but responding lightly to their texts...but all it seems to do is reinforce that I'm available on their terms and that they are just sorta checking in with me...there's never anything substansive...nearer the beginning I'd try to get a face to face but it was met with resistance so now I'm leaning towards just kind of ignoring those "how are you" messages or maybe casually getting back to them after a few days. I want to break that nonproductive cycle that they are doing.
