I’ve been vegan for about 7 years now. I’m currently 7 weeks pregnant with my first. The only thing that I changed in my diet was less processed foods. I loved this video, thanks for speaking up and making it. 💕

It is amazing to hear you have had such a great pregnancy! I am currently 36 weeks with my first little plant-based babe and while I still have a few weeks to go I almost feel like this pregnancy has been too easy. My body feels wonderful, I sleep great, haven't gotten any stretch marks, never had morning sickness, haven't experienced acid reflux and same thing every time I see my midwife she says everything is going great with my body and my little one! Thank you for making this video and educating people on how wonderful, healthy, and SAFE a plant powered pregnancy can be!

In my second trimester and totally plant based!!! I have felt AMAZING. No nausea, great energy levels, etc. I don’t have a previous pregnancy to compare this to, but I do feel like I’ve had a great pregnancy this far because I’m fully whole foods plant based.

35 weeks now, and just found your channel! I'm seeing sooo many parallels between our pregnancies which is really cool to see! I do accredit most of the ease of this pregnancy to a plant-based diet. Totally not perfect, though. I "listened" to my cravings for dairy for a couple days (thought it wouldn't hurt to introduce a few foods I've cut out) and was SO lethargic and achy the next couple of days. Super encouraging to hear your experience.

I'm vegan and eat lots of whole foods, when i spent a short time pregnant (7 weeks) i really craved eggs.. to the point i had to make scrambled tofu regularly and i still couldn't stop thinking about them. :p I also had very bad morning sickness on top! I would be vomiting all day and barely holding down anything (i thought i was going to have to go to the hospital if i choose to keep the baby). It was a really wrong time in my life to have a child.. i had a volatile relationship in my teens and no job! I am thinking now it might have just all been a manifestation of being the wrong time for me.. Glad to hear you have had a nice pregnancy the concept has really scared me after my first experience but at least i can see here that it's possible to be plant based and HAPPILY pregnant! Thanks for sharing :)

The first trimester nose was soooo real. Buying food (as a vegan person) was a challenge because I could smell the food cooking from the ready-meal section. Thank god now I'm fine. As much as I craved some type of cheesy food at one point, the Idea of eating the real thing disgusted me. So I actually got really creative to replicate very specifics tastes. Up until the beginning of June I was fine eating what I would normally eat + some snacks. But then, I think she grew a lot bigger one shot, and I turned in an actual garbage truck. No amount of food would be satisfying. One night, I actually had a meltdown because I was tired of constantly eating (lol). It took a couple of day, but I fixed the problem by adding more dense food. I think the difficult part for me is not that I'm vegan, but that i'm almost 7 months pregnant in a very humid summer where I don't want to eat because of the heat, but I need to eat even more that I would normally do. I'm really grateful to be pregnant, but it's weird and I'm really excited to be alone in my body again.

I love this video, you're so positive and open minded! I'm sure you might have mentioned this in another video but are you planning on putting the baby on a vegan diet as well? That would be amazing to see and know what alternatives you use especially if breastfeeding doesn't work out as long as you want it to.

Even Michael is mostly plant-based so it'll only be natural that our kiddos are too. But I'll be sure to do plenty of research to make sure they have a nutritious diet filled with everything they need to be getting as plant-based kids.

I went vegan September 2017, then I got pregnant in November 2017. I gradually switched to vegetarian and sometimes even pescatarian. But I don't completely "blame" it on being pregnant. A few reasons I made the switch: 1) I really missed ice cream. Yes, I know there is vegan ice cream but dang it's pricey and this girl loves ice cream!! 2) It was so difficult to eat out with friends/family! There are very few vegan options in Iowa (as you know) and I missed being able to have options. 3) I love pizza and vegan pizza is not my jam. 4) Restricting my diet to being vegan made me feel like I wasn't able to enjoy life as much. I felt like I was putting all this pressure on myself. I still wanted to enjoy non-vegan foods (ice cream, pizza, etc.) once in a while and I felt like "depriving" myself was making me unhappy. So I made the switch! 5) I sometimes felt like a burden to family when we had holiday gatherings. They were always willing to try and make everything vegan, but now it's a little easier knowing they can put butter in the mashed potatoes or cream of mushroom soup in the green bean casserole. I still try my best to be vegan, and I'd say 95% of the time I'm vegan, but I still enjoy an ice cream cone or a last minute pizza run when I just don't feel like cooking. It's all about balance and what makes you happy! During my pregnancy I was mainly vegan and I also had a great pregnancy like you! I can't say for sure if this was because of my diet, but I think it definitely attributed to it!

I was vegetarian, then vegan, then raw vegan, then vegan again, then vegetarian for many years, starting at about 14 years old. At 22 I did switch back to more vegetarian because I needed the cholesterol from eggs to manufacture hormones. My cycles were really suffering. And then my temperatures were becoming gradually lower, so I had to add in (in the past few months) organic free-range chicken and occasionally some other organic meats, as well as goat milk yogurt and goat cheese. I can’t do cow’s dairy, and I can’t stomach the idea of red meat. It took a lot for me to make this change, because eating meat disgusted me for so long. Still not super into the idea, but I’ve been reading more about real food diets, and traditional foods (like what Lily Nichols, RDN, and the Weston A Price Foundation speak about). A Mediterranean diet (my husband is Greek, and we’re Greek Orthodox, so it is also tied to our religion in a way) with some small amounts of high quality animal products, and lots of grass-fed butter (yet another change I had to make) and olive oil for healthy fat, and fresh plant foods has been making a lot of improvements in my cycles. All of this under the direction of my Naturopath and my Justisse HRHP (what I’m training to be as well). We, as Orthodox, also have roughly 1/2 of the year which is fasting, where we are completely vegan. So it balances out naturally. But yeah, it was a big mindset change for me.

I love reading this!!!! I've been a vegetarian for the last 8 years, and after over exercising and hormonal fatigue I had terrible cramps, it's been taking me 2 years to recover! And I now realize that being vegan or vegetarian is a whole change that requires respect for your body I stopped eating any cow products and eating better. Patience, good sleep, good exercise and I'm now getting better and better. I'm really glad to see other veggie women healing their cycles and finding their balance!!!
