You should really consider getting an Arc-Droid type setup so you can cut your own brackets in house. Best of both worlds that way: no-wait for outside cutting and uses existing plasma cutter so only have to purchase the CNC arm.

I have been an apprentice for an iron worker and it’s definitely a very rewarding job to see what you can make and what it looks like in the end. Have built a lot of tilt slab warehouses in phoenix, parking garages, schools, a couple of churches, and grocery stores. The only thing I don’t understand is why they start the projects in the summer time so absolutely no shade anywhere other than in the port o 💩.

The rear roll center is determined by the height of the center of the panhard bar. In your case its center of the rear axle. If you lower it, it would improve roll center.

Don't use a diagonal inside the frame channel.. Instead us a web stiffener that extends between the two flanges. This is better because it'll tie the two flanges together. If you wanted to box the frame, the stiffener would be concealed inside. Next time you see a steel bridge, look for the stiffeners. They are typically located at the points of inflection.

Will you ever change on how you do your projects, probably not. My dad is like you and does his projects his way. For example, he decided to stuff a V8 in a Ford Courier. The frame and large starter wanted to take up the same space. He could have used a mini starter, but he wanted all starters to fit. So he notched the frame and then reinforced. Totally not necessary, bit in his head he had to do it like that for it to be correct. Same thing for transmission kickdown. He could have bent the metal one to work, but he wanted to have a cable kickdown. He made all the brackets by hand, found a cable in the junkyard and then fit it all to the truck. The truck just smoke the tires at will and dad could have put some traction bars on it, but he wanted it to be a sleeper. He found an old drag racer from the 60s named Bill Maverick Golden had made traction bars facing backwards that worked really well. My dad bought a set of shocks, made the brackets to mount it on the spring pad and the mounts to connect to the frame at the back of the truck. There was a baja truck kit that would have fit, but my dad needed it his way. After the shocks were installed, the truck had a lot of traction. I could go on about his projects, but for the last 44 years I have watched him take the slow road. Keep being you and I enjoy watching you make the projects yours just like my dad did.

That frame side panhard mount is definitely a weak point. A VERY weak point. It’s an awfully long lever arm, with a ton of side load on it. Take a look at how reinforced those mounts are on say NASCAR cup cars. I feel like there needs to be a rail to rail crossmember right above the panhard, and you need to triangulate that frame side mount with braces that run from the bottom of the frame mount up to the crossmember. As is I think it needs more than a simple gusset. Also, what kind of rasp did you use to clean out that inside hole on your axle mount? I need one that can make fairly quick work of thicker metal like that. Thanks.

My question on the orientation of the heims is not questioning the articulation. My concern is that your torsional load is now on the ball socket itself since zero fore/aft, or rotational load exists in your 4-link setup. Would that not wear out that bottom joint exponentially faster? Its engineered, intended function is to rotate around the bolt’s axis, not 90 degrees from it on the heim’s socket. Right?
