Also I wanted to share that I am to a survivor and I will always keep my Dms open to anyone who just wants to talk, privately and I will not share any information. You will remain anonymous. Also I will always remain loyal to my friends in need. If its helping provide a safe place, I am there if it means being the one to help you have a getaway plan. I will help. If it means driving you to a safe place, I will do it. When you have nowhere to go (which alot of the time family & friends are driven away on purpose) I will not abandon my friend. This is my pledge to anyone surviving Domestic violence.

I remember after a couple of months of separation I was 99% sure I wanted a divorce. After telling him I was filing for a divorce he told me he thought if he gave me space to do whatever I needed to do to I would come back to him. I was in shock when he said this cuz he was basically giving me a "pass" to cheat on him since he was cheating on me. I was disgusted that he said this and at that point I was 100% sure I was ready for a divorce. When he got the divorces papers he was crying/begging for another chance and I said "NO" and when he heard no, he said the most terrible thing ever... he said "who is going to want you with a kid with a disability" (my lil Izzy was 4 at the time and she was diagnosed with autism). I looked at him and with a smirk on my face I told him "someone". Well she's 13 now doing great, I remarried to an amazing person who has a heart of gold and we have a 2yo lil Daisy🌼. Life is finally good and I can smile again😊 Thx you for this video I just love purple eyeshadow it's my fav, it makes my hazel eyes really pop💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 P.S. Oh no!! 🥺😢 I always share a moment of horror whenever you drop/break something. But I loved “This is me in a shadow.” I really appreciated your personal story because it is hard to acknowledge, let alone accept, the distorted thinking that tends to go along with abusive relationships ... it helps knowing others understand completely what others would judge you for. On a lighter note: you got me jonesing for Violet Ink!! I cannot wait to get that along with Killer Purr, hopefully by the second week of November (I can’t remember - did you order it? I am so surprised it never sold out). And, because you are responsible for this purchase, my Granny Palette is finally in my collection!!! I am so excited to create looks with Vintage Rose!

I’ve been in a toxic relationship and although it wasn’t physically abusive, it was hard for me to let him go. It harmed my mental health a lot. It probably hurt my physical health too because the stress is bad for our hearts. After letting go of him emotionally once and for all I was able to heal completely. I felt like I wasted time on him, but I trust God’s plan for me. I’m glad you got out and moved forward with your life in a positive manner. Thank you for spreading awareness. You’re a beautiful person, both inner and outward. 🦋 I like the Colourpop purple palette. The shadows are magnetic so we can easily pop them out and put them back in. I heard the big morphe purple palette is nice quality also.

For me it was emotionally abusive long before physical and I never realized. It’s hard because when it’s in your head you feel crazy or unjustified. I agree it damages your mental health and I had to work through a lot of issues. I trust Gods plan for me and I can only take one day at a time.
@celestecelestial905 жыл бұрын
Amy Loves Makeup I could imagine that being the case. I dated another guy when I was 20 years old and he was emotionally abusive in a certain way that made me fear for my safety. I felt like he could become violent towards me based on his actions and words, so I broke up with him after a couple of months. I saw him at the grocery last year ran off before he saw me because I didn’t want to say hi. I agree on God’s plan, everything in his timing. ❤️

I do want to add for women looking at those resources that your abuser might be checking your browser history. If you use google chromes, please access resource websites using incognito mode, which *if you use Google Chrome as your browser* you can find by going on your "File" at the top bar of your browser and clicking "New Incognito Tab" or by clicking command + shift + N (MAC) or ctrl + shift + N (windows) and waiting for a dark grey tab to open. *** Thank you, Amy. I'm a children's social worker and worked with victims of Intimate Partner Violence all throughout college (and was also one myself). In the Bay Area, I recommend the Family Justice Center, which was the first of its kind in the US.

I love all the purples. I've never been in an abusive relationship, but my mom had been married to one. It wasn't really physical, but very mentally and emotionally abusive towards both of us. He would always make us feel bad about our weight and appearance as well as yelling at me that everything would be fault and I was going to be the reason my mom and I will be out on the street with nothing (this was said on my 15th? birthday). They have been divorced for around 8 years and I still cannot say his name.

I was in an emotionally abusive relationship after I got divorced and when I was at a very vulnerable point in my life. I really loved this person and the abuse was almost subtle sometimes. The manipulation was astounding really, in retrospect. A few years later and I have mostly gotten over the really painful triggers. The truth is, none of us are immune to falling into an abusive relationship. It can happen to anyone. It just sort of sneaks up on you. I am truly happy for you that you got out and are making a wonderful life for yourself and your son. You’re doing a fantastic job. Much love to you. 💜

Amy , knowing your story it took awhile to watch this! I definitely wanna ty for doing this sweetheart 💜 You’re truly an inspiration to me & I know to so many! My mom was in a 35 yr old abusive marriage , she never left he passed this year. It was crazy to grieve someone that not only hurt my mother, but us kids ( mentally & physically ) I’m the oldest of 6 so I always felt like I needed to protect my siblings & I felt like back than ( I’m 40 ) that the police never believed me & my mom would say “whatever” didn’t happen to her, I felt helpless. My cousins would witness this, it’s like everyone knew and did nothing. I feel like it’s one of the hardest things to get others out of a relationship like that. So I seriously think so highly of you for getting out! My cousin said she never be like my mom and she just had her 3rd baby with an abusive guy. I hate that I can’t do anything, bc she called the cops so much that next time basically the cops said she’ll get into trouble bc she’s called so much & gets a restraining order than she’ll break it, by letting him bk into her life ( the restraining order happened bf her 3 babies, so I’m sure she could do more now that she has them). This story could be a book ,but I honestly just wish outsiders could do more. Idk it’s scary, those little babies , I’m so so scared for if she doesn’t leave. They have a woman’s shelter & I got a bed for my mom but she’d never go. Luckily I have a great husband, but when I was a teen from 15 - almost 18 I was in a mentally& physically abusive relationship, nothing like my mom’s, yours or my cousins even but it wasn’t good! Luckily he went to prison for a long time for some stuff he’d done , or IDK if I would’ve left!? It’s hard when you think you’re in love, when you’re young or when they threaten you. So I know it’s not easy & I really hope anyone going through this right now knows you’re not alone, you’re worth so much & there is help! I know it doesn’t sound like it in my story, but if you want help you can get it 💜 If you’ve been through it & left I’m so proud of you 💜 Amy is someone I know you could talk to, I’d talk to you if you want. Just let me know, I’m here! 💜💜💜

It is sad and amazing at the same time to read the comments of this video. I was raised by an abusive father and so was he and his father before. Breaking a cycle that goes on and on for decades is for many not even something that they can imagine. I've had times were it was easier to either let myself die or try to take away his life while he slept. I still am fighting with depression and anxiety. Many of us still live with these persons around us in one way or the other. I want to remind and reassure you that it is your right to get help. Especially in countries like Albania for example it is still to this day for many no option to talk about it. Were you as the victim are the one to be ashamed AND THIS IS SO WRONG. Sharing is caring, take your time, be kind to yourself. There is a way out and you are worthy of a life without fear.

It killed everything inside me. Makeup is my escape and safety mask. I would suggest everyone who wants to know more about abuse to read "Why Does He Do That?" By Lundy Bancroft. It's probably a little dated at this point, but Lundy Bancroft worked with abusive men for years, and basically the book is a look at different forms of abuse, why abusers act the way they do, as well as the ways abusers use the justice system etc etc to their advantage. It is aimed towards helping people who currently are or formerly have been in abusive relationships understand more about what happened. I am lucky in many respects, though I have been in some (thankfully short-lived) emotionally abusive situations in the past, and this book really helped me and still does. Even if someone hasn't been in that situation, I would recommend reading this book-I think even those of us who care about abuse and condemn it don't necessarily understand how it happens or just how slippery and manipulative abusers can be.

Thank you for recommending the book! I’ll have to look into it. I’m not sure if I’m at a place to read it right now because I feel like I’ve coped and having to focus on those times would bring all the feelings back ):

I like how each purple differs from one to the next. (No repeat shades) . My favs are, Looxie Beauty, Duperstar, Em Cosmetics Urban Fairy & Wild Flower, Lethal Cosmetics, Descent. These are the purples I gravitate towards. Now I'm heading over to watch your orange shades collection. 🍊 I really want to see you team up with one of your favorite Indie brands and make your own palette. If anyone deserves this, it's you my friend. Much Love and respect. Love you from the bottom of my heart. Kat.

I got married at 20 and went back and forth to my ex husband for 3 years. He constantly lied to me, broke promises and tried to use the kids to keep us together. He pushed me around and mentally abused me. I finally left him after my son had a series of seizures and moved back into my parents. I'm so blessed to have the moment to really break free and my son is ok. I was also pregnant with our 2nd child. I have been free from him for almost 3 years! He's still in contact because of the children anx still tries to use them ti get back together. But I am in a very happy, healthy relationship and we have our own little boy. It might take time but you can do it! 💕

I love this beautiful purple palette you created, Amy, & that you are taking this opportunity to bring awareness to domestic violence & encourage others to share their voice, & others to seek help from such situations. Many people make the assumption that domestic violence is man on woman, but women can be just as violent against men, especially if the man is one who is not of a violent nature. My brother had an ex-wife who was physically & emotionally abusive towards him. He was raised never to hit a woman & never retaliated physically in any way, but he lived for 7 years in a marriage that was an absolute hell for him. As you were mentioning about shame, I think he carried a lot of it, as he had been advised before they married by close friends & family that she was not a wise choice. He was a person that took his marriage vows very seriously, & unfortunately endured things he shouldn't have. It wasn't until she had an affair with another man that he finally agreed to give her the divorce she requested, & it wasn't until after the divorce that we learned just how bad things had been for him (he kept so much to himself). It took a very long time for him to heal & even consider dating, but many years later, he married a lady from another country. They have a special needs child, so life is not easy for them regarding those challenges, but I am so thankful that he now has a loving, supportive wife, that they have a strong relationship, & they share life's challenges together. Beauty can come from ashes. 💜💜💜

Wow that’s awful that he went through that. I can only imagine the pain of staying that long and the shame especially because it’s not the most usual situation. I’m happy he finally got out and has someone he loves now who treats him better.

@@AmyLovesMakeup, it's kinda' interesting in that since sharing my brother's story in closed groups, I've discovered that a goodly number of men have gone through similar situations---many more than one would anticipate. I think men are less likely to speak up due to the stigma that somehow they are just weak, or "not being the man of their homes" if they suffer abuse at the hands of a woman. When they discover safe, non-judgmental forums where they can open up, they often do at that point. I man at my church who was raised a preacher's son shared that he had an abusive first wife, & despite him trying to tell his family, they didn't believe him initially until she got so out of control & almost killed him. His family then immediately took him in. I think it can be harder to believe when it's a man being abused because of societal stigma/preconceived ideas that men are always the abusers. Another male friend of mine had a wife who kicked him down a flight of stairs. He said he was lucky she didn't break his neck. He was a muscular fit guy, Navy brat, but never violent himself towards his wife. Needless to say, it didn't last long. Still, I was shocked when he told me. The more people with whom I've had discussion on this subject, the more I have learned that, sadly, victims take all forms. 😔

That Palette is sooooo Gorgeous!! Just looking at it it's just stunning...I wouldn't know which purple to pick to be honest lol..they are all stunning! P.S. So sorry for what you went through I am so glad that you came out of it and made you a stronger person. The Sad reality is that this is way to common I've seen it countless times and talking about it is half the battle. #herestostronggirls

Love this look. Love purple shadows. I support you 💯💜💜💜 Thank you for your amazing courage. Galaxy shadows are holy grail... PML special shades are also amazing, but they’re expensive and the colors really aren’t as edgy even though they’re gorg.. I love Duperstar and Kazookles. Ooooh Remy! Great vid.

It’s really a beautiful thing you can talk about your past and maybe help other women that are living this same nightmare. I know how you feel, I passed through that... I had a child when I was 27 with a “man” that start drinking and using drugs when I was pregnant and that was both the best and the worst period of my life... fortunately I was able to run away from him when my baby was turning 1 year old, fortunately I have an amazing family that helped me a lot because he continued to stalking and threatening and attacking me for a long time (and here in Italy laws against domestic violence are not very good and useful...); but now I’m a better woman, stronger and with a wonderful partner who really loves me and my son 😊💜 I send you a big hug like I was a older sister because I can see the pain in your eyes when you talk about your experience even if it’s all over but I know the scars that lasts will continue to hurt even if now we are better and stronger women 💜 By the way, purple is also my favorite color and I love you single shadows collection!! 💜💜💜

I’m so happy that you were able to get away with your baby! The laws here don’t help much either unless you press charges and have proof - which of course I didn’t do when I was in the relationship. So happy you have someone who loves you and your son now and treats you well. You deserve it! Thanks for the virtual hug 💜

you look absolutely amazing in purple honestly, it goes so well with your features, very fitting colour. i have trouble finding purples that fit me, i like more grape-ish purple because cool toned purple are a little too close to blue, if anything i like to mix in lighter blues to cool toned purples to give a nice periwinkle look. Also, i was about 17 when i got into relationship. long story short, he was my bestie , started taking him to church with me, he didnt like me at first but decided to give me a shot/ we stayed together for 3 years but the first 2 had a lot of neglect , anger and just rejection because he was insecure and was constantly back and forth on wanting to be me with so i treated him like a friend so that way i was putting aside my feelings so he could be healed. well im not God and it isnt my job to bring healing to someone but i tried taking on that role because i hate self destruction. we started to do intimate activities and everything hit the fan. almost got married at 19 so we wouldnt sin but i didnt think it was a good reason to get married so we didnt. sadly we still were intimate and that just put a power surge in his mind. he was extra mean, abusive verbally, mentally and emotionally, at the last year of our relationship he became physically abusive. and we were using God as an excuse to stay together when really everything told us to end it. so 2 side chicks and a father passing away laterrrr~ i broke up with him. i was allowing him to be a monster and i did not want to be in danger of harm. took 2 years to date to be healed but still working on finding out who this person is and who im trying to be since about 5/6 years of my life were centered around him, being friends , being with him and trying to stop talking to him. so sad to find out this was a common situation a lot of young adults find themselves, it hurt me how normal this experience was but God brought me through it. thank you for your story.

I know that so many people go through this and we really should raise more awareness 💜 thanks for sharing your story sweet girl
