You really need to do Opeth's Deliverance. It's Damnation's sister album, so it was from the same time, but has a lot of the deathgrowl vocals that I know you have come to love. 😊

I prefer how you react now, than from the start, with the songs jumping like a scratched record. I like to hear the whole song and it's like we're all sharing it now while you listen. There's no metal podcasts or radio programs anymore in italy, I mean with a speaker other than the music. That's why I made my own podcast (but it's in italian) to program the music I like. I put channels like this to spend the night shifts at work, it's cool.

How much you got into Opeth is really fun for me both because I kinda had a similar musical journey into getting into them but also that years ago on one of your much earlier videos you said something that made me incredibly certain you’d love Opeth and I recommend them then and while I had to wait a very long time it seems my impressions were entirely accurate lol. Considering this, my main bands I’d recommend starting with checking out to continue the prog metal thing would probably be Enslaved, Leprous, The Ocean, and for a slightly lighter prog metal your fellow Aussies Caligula’s Horse (also would give a shoutout to my local favorites Hammers of Misfortune who are incredible but kinda completely unknown outside a small amount of people who absolutely adore them).

Thanks to you Kira, I have rediscovered Opeth, a band that was vaguely on my radar (I had only listened to the first album, and I'm not a big fan of prog metal tbh). I look forward to seeing more alt metal, post-hardcore, doom, and gothic metal. Watching you react to bands like Anathema, The Gathering, Katatonia, Tiamat, My Dying Bride, Theatre of Tragedy, and Paradise Lost would be amazing! 🤘👍 PS: The Patreon community are very good people! I wish them a great 2025 🙏

I was pleasantly shocked when I first played Damnation. Great way to appreciate the clean vocals. My very late 2024 discovery was ‘Sonic Excess in Its Purest Form’ by Crowbar. No idea why I had missed it.

Accidentally found your channel about a week or 2 ago and have been really enjoying your journey of exploring metal :D Can't wait to see more Opeth reactions :) Blackwater Park is my favourite Opeth album, but their earlier releases are also awesome, Like My Arms Your Hearse, Deliverance, and Morningrise (although I fee like you might like that one less... I could be wrong though!) For me a couple of albums I apparently couldn't stop listening to, based on my Spotify wrapped: Cynic - Traced in Air (this was my number 1 album for 2024) The Faceless - Autotheism The Faceless - In Becoming A Ghost T-Square - NEW-S (This is Japanese fusion jazz so very different than the above lol) Have a happy new year and looking forward to more content!

If you want to further investigation 'Oldpeth', you got to react to their first two albums 'Orchid' and 'Morningrise' at some point. I know I'm in the minority, but those two hits me harder than anything, they did afterwards. There's just something truly 'scandinavian' in the feel of those two albums, that they never really touched upon again musically.. 🤔🤗

I so love funky album 'Suicidal for Life' from 1994 by Suicidal Tendencies. Actually, your dad as classic prog fan could be able to enjoying album 'Heritage' from 2011 by Opeth because there is kind of great stylisation of oldschool vintage prog. If you, Kira, love things like 'Vroom Vroom' and new album 'Brat' by Charli XCX - highly recommend you listen to album 'Black Water' from 2018 by ukrainian electronic artist Maruv!

I've enjoyed finding you through death metal. MF Doom is by far my favourite rapper. If you like some punk you started good. Some newer stuff that would be cool to see is Propagandhi - Supporting Caste or A Wilhelm Scream - Ruiner. Both sick albums. If you want something sad City & Colour- Sometimes. Thats my cry baby album 😂 best of luck in the new year!

Lend your lovely, half-hidden, ears to SymphonyX (Prog Metal, albums like "Paradise Lost (2007)" and "Underworld (2015)" or Dark Tranquillity (Melodic Death Metal) with albums like "Damage Done (non-remastered edition, 2002)" and "Character (2005)". May the year of 2025 smile gently upon you. You're still my third fav "thing" to come out of Australia, after AC/DC and Angel City (The Angels in your neck of the bush). Luv'ya.

Great choices with Alice In Chains, Motörhead, Black Flag, Opeth, Tool, MF DOOM, Suicidal Tendencies, Electric Wizard, Helmet, and Fiona Apple. When it comes to Alice In Chains I’d recommend listening to their 1995 self-titled. It’s their darkest album yet and their final album with Layne Staley before he tragically passed away in 2002. For more Opeth, I’d recommend checking out Ghost Reveries and Watershed. You’ll love those almost as much as Still Life, Blackwater Park, and Damnation.
