I was really bummed out when I found out I actually missed you in the lobby night 😂 , we host multiple events, ranging from ranked nights every monday , open lobbies (almost) every week and even brackets (almost) every week (NA and EU have been merged) Most of these events can only really be found in the discord, but that doesnt stop us from trying! Forget characters Imagine your favorite fighting game being dead or not popular. DNF Duel is my favorite fighting game but sadly it's just not popular. I love Dragon Knight tho she isn't my main (she would be if not for DLC) Battle Mage for life. God I wish this game had players. Truly the sad part of fighting games. Doesn't matter how good or fun it is. If it's not popular it doesn't matter. So you're forced into the Strive, SF6, and Tekken8 bottle neck

Next year I'm going to focus on building my channel as a "Poverty Gaming" channel, meaning I want to try and make content themed around playing less popular fighting games while also rotating in the modern ones. I really think it's important to make an effort to preserve lesser known games. For example, I never really learned Garou, but COTW makes me want to learn both. There are already tournaments being run for a lot of these games, but I would like to help to put a spotlight on them. Another great example is VF, with it coming back it kinda gives hope that some of these older or forgotten franchises can see the light of day again. I'm glad the FGC has grown, but I really don't like that it seems like people are always chasing the new thing. Especially when a lot of games, like DNF, are under explored.

It really makes me sad that the FGC doesn't do more to preserve some of the really great games that have either gone too soon or are so old they are forgotten. I play Samsho VSP almost as much as SF6 and Tekken, and I am trying to figure out how to rotate a many others as possible. Some examples include: GGACR, Gundam Battle Assault 2, Garou (especially since new one is coming), and Rumble Fish 2 (never released in the west until a few years back, unfortunately a very cursed version that I cannot recommend in good conscience, just play it on Fightcade).

DnF Duel has such great production values!! But you know what happened? Granblue dropped basically the same game, FOR FREE. It's been a great dad/teaching game for FGs, because it's so fundamental and you don't have to teach inputs. I go from Footsies, to this, to other titles. But yeah, it's become one of those touch-of-death games where you're either invulnerable or you're free. I've had the equal-opposite problem of trying to find/create locals for KOF XV to no avail because it's TOO input-intensive and deep even for most SF/TK/GG fans.

My favorite fighting game character I can never play was called Ajim. The game was Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram. There is only one tournament recorded on KZbin to reference to get an idea for what it was like during the brief competition it had. I will never get a chance to play them against another player because they were a punishment boss made playable for an IP locked in perpetual stasis in SEGA's disney vault. tl;dr sega does what nintendoes and I will never get to play what wouldve been my favorite fighting game competitively as a result.

I really love DNF Duel, but i only play it when some friends come home, which is not very often. Still... I think the problem with DNF Duel's player base is that they seem to forget that game is not exactly a super hardcore competitive game. The fact that it was pushed competitively doesn't mean that that is the core philosophy of the game. The game is made by Eighting, whose balancing logic is "because is fun" Yet people use their time to complain that "x is broken" and get frustrated and they quit the game. I think that is necessary to chill out a bit more and just play for fun... i know i sound like a grandpa saying that, but is what i believe at this point in my life. I began to enjoy games much more by just playing them, i mean yeah, it sucks to lose 10-1, but at the end of the day you will be learning things to improve with the right mindset, instead of just saying "nah fuck that bs is broken"

at least in my experience when a character truly clicks with you you end up playing their game to death no matter how few players it has. My #1 favorite fighting game character is elliana from rivals of aether, she alone is what has kept me playing the game as long as i have despite its player numbers slowly dwindling and the fact i live in a region where good connection matches can be hard to come by, even to the point that i'm still playing it over rivals 2 depite that game being so much bigger and having way better netcode (and even when they do add her to rivals 2 i'll probably still keep playing the original because i doubt she'll feel as perfect as she does in the first game)

My personal thoughts are that it took too long for the game to receive updates, and the developers were very bad at communicating overall. Time just kept passing with no major announcements in sight, and people were left wondering what happened; we became more convinced that this was just it. If I am not mistaken, there actually was no plan to even release DLC, which is why the first character took so long. To even compare to 2XKO again, before the game is even fully out, the developers have been very transparent about how things are going, what they plan to do, and how they're taking the different thoughts and criticisms into account. Part of what you said in your comment is that people just assumed DNF would be free, when the developers of 2XKO straight up confirmed it. Communication matters a lot here.

Yep, mained Dragon Knight when i played DNF Duel, too, and she's got some real BS. Loved learning the Astra corner loops. I have a similar feeling with Arizona in Them's Fightin' Herds. Absolutely nutty rushdown and mixups with a disjointed command grab on her lasso. Bullying people with rope never fails to make my smile. Too bad it died and the publisher completely fucked the dev team

Strangely enough my favorite fighting game character that I don't really get to play was Ranger(also DNF), mainly because he was a zone who I really felt like he controlled the screen/range, and the closet thing I ever felt or played to that I felt was close to Ranger's fluid control was Carmine(Under Night) or Bridget(guilty gear)leading to me consistently wanting to play the game and I would if my Playstation didn't die,also cowboy=really cool design.

Tthis game has so many mods for obvious reasons. One of which was add Goku from DBFZ which was the base for the game which means people were able to turn back on burst that made the game better because it fixes the issue of the defensive problem that turns this shit into an actual single player game. It was literally just turned off in the code. People complained adding more defensive options would not fix anything. Then complain they can't do anything when getting killed.
