dude, in portuguese my therapist would've called this as an "castrating" experience, in the sense that all that makes you YOU is taken away one way or another. The hair down, the clothes you don't like, the date you didn't want... You've been striped away of all that's true to YOU. As if your identity were castrated. I don't know terms in english for this feeling/ situation, but I hope what I said made sense.
@AYNitaj4 жыл бұрын
I understand what you mean because in french we have the same word to describe this (se faire castrer). And yeah it's incredibly painful and it just leaves you with nothing, it empties you from who you are and all your power and strenght. It's degrading. Did you experienced something like this? I dated a f*cking straight guy for 5 months as a teen and it was a nightmare lol, I was pressured into dating him and I just wasn't able to say no! If you experienced something like this I would like to hear about it! Take care :)
@NoodlesNaruto4 жыл бұрын
@A M. castrate has two meanings, the second one generally is about loss of power so technically it could be used

Maybe emasculating might be the right word? That sounds truer to meaning.
@Ross_mo3 жыл бұрын

Oh honey, this was, me? The only difference is my parents didn't let me talk to boys, they weren't to worried about my girlfriends because I had non lol (not really, I usually had like one or two friends each year) . But whenever I had anything in my life that made them hope again that I might be "normal" such as a friend coming over or an outing with a friend, they would freak out and make me wear my hair down and wear nicer clothes and shit too. Also my parents are orthodox religious jews so I wasn't allowed to wear pants, only skirts, so I always wore denim skirts because they where most similar to denim pants, so for any outing where they wanted me to be feminine they tried to make me wear dresses/ flowing/twirly skirts. Eventually I just stopped letting them get close to my wardrobe and one a weak on Shabbat I would wear clothes I knew made them happy so that they'd leave me alone the rest of the week.
@ayellowpapercrown67504 жыл бұрын
THAT ORTHODOX JEWISH LIFE THOOO someone finally relates sorry i’m too happy Thankfully I grew up Modern orthodox so I COULD wear pants but my parents sent me to the orthodox cheder so I HAD to wear skirts too. And same, I always went for the denim skirts because it’s what felt the most like jeans. They’d also force me into twirlier, more feminine things for shabbath. The fact that we ALL had the same life.
@nathanzylbermann53914 жыл бұрын
@@ayellowpapercrown6750 lol it really is too similar. I went to an olpena until I was 16 and then I dropped out and went to a non religious school (I had to redo a year) and damn if that wasn't a life changer. Being able to wear jeans pants, having non or at least less homophobic teachers, having it be not ok for a teacher to say racist things and having friends that where just generally less ... Idk. The funny thing is in the olpena I was kind of part of the rebel friend group. The outsiders who everyone assumed where lesbians and would end up "corrupted" in some way, as if the fact that we asked questions made us sinners or smthing, when I got to the non religious school I was no longer edgy just for being non religious, so I found my place with the goody good nerds and let me just say it took some adjustments lol.
