This is such a dark and melancholic album, which is understandable because it's the first album after the death of Paul Grey and Joey Jordison leaving the band. This album doesn't deserve the hate it gets, I think it's a well written album and the energy of it is gut-wrenching. RIP Paul and Joey, you are sorely missed 🙏🙏

Honestly their most underrated album. People really rag on this album a lot imo but it’s gotta be my favorite album of theirs. It’s a major mixture of melodic and absolute chaos and has done some amazing songs in general. Custer will forever be one of my fave songs ever and Killpop is just haunting. It’s also imo their most cohesive album which makes it just feel like a whole journey throughout their mindsets during the time. It’s so fucking dark and you feel the pain they experienced.

.5 is the first album since all hope is gone after Paul passed away ,the tittle and alot of the songs on this album is for Paul and the turmoil the band went through , it's the band Jay weingber (drums) and Alex (bass) join the band and it's the last album with Chris fehn. Jim root was fired from Stone sour a few months before writing the album he was the that started writing the album and bringing everyone slowly This is the second album to hit number 1 on billboard charts for the band , it's a good album The negative one was the first song slipknot release since 2008

@RatSewage Жыл бұрын
@@darksheep It wasn't a mutual departure until after Jim left, IIRC. I watched a video of him speaking on it and he said that it began as the band against him but he accepted it and determined his passion was more for Slipknot than for SS so he was ultimately complacent with the decision. My theory is that SS's other guitarist was jealous of being overshadowed by Jim. Notice how terrible their releases are since Jim's departure. Jim was a pillar of the band, in my opinion.

For this album its my second favorite out of all of them. A tribute Paul. One thing I would like to metion is that many thought that "the Negative one" was about Joeys departure from the band. But its really not, even Corey said that the song had nothing to do with Joey. To this day we maggots still have no idea what really happened behind it all. Maybe because of his illness or just being really shitty band mates to him. But I honestly believe that the reason they let him go was because of his illness. They loved him so much and he was one of the main guys that created Slipknot. They played with him for so long and so hard that I don't they would let him go for any other fucked up reason. Corey though mentioned that having Joey fired was one of the hardest decistions he as ever made and he refuses to talk about it.

The change in percussion sound is because this is the first album recorded with Jay Weinberg as their drummer. Joey Jordison at this point had been overrun with his neurological disease and had lost the ability to use his legs so they had to replace him. This is why the drums sound very different. The other 2 percussionists didn't change until 2020 when Chris fenn was kicked due to legal disputes over money. Clown is the other main percussionist, he plays big bingo style drums and beer kegs.

This is definitely the knot album with which I'm least familiar, and while after this listen I maintain it's the one I enjoy the least, there are certainly some bright spots on the record. Firstly the whole thing is a really great tribute to Paul, especially songs like XIX and Skeptic. Talking of, not only is XIX probably their strongest opening track alongside .execute., it's one of my favourite songs on the album. I love how it dips out into the start of Sarcastrophe, which is also a cool song and has some great vocal lines (live long and die for me). I think some of the songs get quite samey, there seems to be an over-reliance on I think Jim playing octaves being the only thing they do to change up a song (happens in tracks 3-5 and it wears thin fast). Although I think we generally agree as a species that Devil in I is a banger. Corey is great across the board, Lech is made great by how much he commits to the camp. Nomadic and Custer have great momentum and If Rain is What you Want is a great closer. To me it's a solid album and a great tribute to Paul, and nothing more.

I love that you enjoyed this album as much as you did. The album is their first without their longtime bass player Paul Gray who passed away in 2010, and is a tribute to him, hence.the name of the album and the song Goodbye. It's also the first without Joey Jordison who was let go from the band near the end of 2013. And unfortunately passed away in 2021, RIP. In their places are Alessandro Venturella on Bass and Jay Weinberg on Drums, who are very worthy successors if you ask me. I also must comment that I love how sharp the percussion sounds on this album. Lastly, with their new album The End, So Far coming out on September 30th, I think you should give a listen to it when it drops, but before that listen to the previous one, We Are Not Your Kind (I think it'll surprise you). Do you ever think think that a Marilyn Manson album would ever make it into the workings of this channels series or do you personally want to avoid his music altogether due to the allegations surrounding him. I understand if that’s the case but I truly believe his earlier work specifically Antichrist superstar and holy wood would really fit nicely into the theme of which the other albums are. The most attractive feature about his music in my opinion are just song writing and lyrics. Hope this gets seen
