I’m not super advanced in my own pixel art, but I think the best advice I’ve ever heard for what scale to pixel at is that the smallest detail I want to represent is one pixel big. I’m bad at estimating measurements, so recently I’ve been starting with what I expect to be the smallest detail of the piece and then scale my sketch around that to find the canvas size.

Woah, this is awesome! Thanks for sharing your process. I'm time tracking my creative work and even tiny pieces take me hours. I wonder how long it took you to get this monster done. Do you have a rough estimate? Keep up the good work. I'm really digging it.
@saultoons2 жыл бұрын
Yo Pip, no accurate time estimate unfortunately as I worked on this off and on, learnt isometric art from scratch while making the tutorial video, and worked sometimes on stream which slows the process down significantly. I would say it's possible for me to achieve something like this in ~6-8 hours though, but I could be well off also :'D In terms of speeding up workflow, I think it helps to refine your process as much as possible, have a set pipeline of working every time to reduce the possibilities of going off a tangent, and get a lot of finished pieces under your belt going through that process. Over time you will notice ways to speed up, or areas that generally take a little longer than expected :) Thanks for watching Pip!
