1st story kinda reminds me of something my ex best friend went through. I was living with her and her emotionally abusive boyfriend (now ex) for a few months while I was fleeing my own abusive relationship. They had been long distance for about a year before he got a job in the town we lived in and moved in with her while he was looking for his own place. Her and I were both unemployed at the time and would go job hunting together while he was at work. Finally we both got jobs within a few days of each other and to celebrate we went and bought some new toys, for me it was because I was newly single and for her she figured she could use it with him to spice things up. I should add that she had a friend group of mostly guys before they got together and 2 of them were black, he was very controlling and jealous so he made her stop hanging out with them but she refused to cut them off completely which made him believe she was into one of the guys who was black even though he had a long term gf. The store we had gone too didn't have a huge selection, most of the toys were huge and not what we were comfortable with so we walked around for awhile trying to find something more average size, I picked one out and since we didn't want to get the same one she went with one that had a darker skin tone (not black, just not white) when he came home from work he asked what we gotten up to during the day and when she told him he got kinda upset then said something along the lines of "if it's not bigger than me I guess it's okay" so she grabbed it and showed him... when I tell you this man lost it.. he went off saying basically "wtf is that?! I knew you were cheating on me with black guys! I bet it's *guy from mentioned friend group*!!" Then stormed out and sat in his truck in the driveway crying for 3 hours. She was really distraught until I cracked the joke "so if you got a blue one I guess you'd be cheating on him with a smurf" we were both laughing hysterically, unfortunately I said that right when he decided his temper tantrum was over and had walked in the door, went back out for another hour to cry in the driveway. Those are some of the most kind and mature 18-year-olds. I was in GS as a kid and my replacement troop leaders sucked so much that all we got for the pins and patches were construction paper things to represent them! I know people who say masterbation is cheating. One reason is religion teaching them that, but I also just know some friends who’ve been devastated that their partner does it because “you know they are thinking of someone else!” Yeah, probably. Wow, I really dislike spiders but if someone I loved had a pet spider that ment a lot to them I would learn to deal with that because it doesn’t matter if I see spiders as a pet, they are a pet to that person. That bond is every bit as important as the bond I have with my cats and dogs. And going as far as to harm someone’s pet shows that there is a serious lack of empathy that is not likely to be a good sign for other possible situations that they may not see another person’s point of view in in the future! It does make you wonder if further toxic, or even abusive, behaviour might have started to show up further down the line if op wasn’t complying with what he wanted or felt should she should do. I’m just sorry that she has to grieve the loss of this relationship and of finding out what sort of person he really was, without the support of the pet that has been her emotional support through other situations.

I really, really don't like spiders, but if I loved someone who had a pet tarantula , while I wouldn't be thrilled to have it around, as long as it was kept in a very secure setup where it couldn't escape and I wasn't expected to take care of it myself, I can't imagine making it a deal breaker, little alone killing it out of spite. Poor Agnes, and that poor guy. :( I'm so sad for him.
