I'm sorry there have been members of the expanse community not being supportive or even being disrespectful. Definitely not what I like to think the community is like. I know any true expanse fan would only be interested in seeing your genuine reactions to this incredible production.

Yeah, Meg makes plenty of content regardless so even if she doesn't do the Expanse, it'll be okay. I think I'd enjoy it if she watches the episodes herself, and then makes little retrospective videos talking about what she thought. That way she can skip the copyright problems and we still get her reactions.

Wonderful to see you back! Love your reactions. Just as your reactions to the show give us a glimpse of who you are, some people's back-asswards negative comments simply give us a glimpse of them - no reflection on you. I hope you can rise above it. Keep being you. If you can carry on, at your own pace, then we'll be blessed when you share, but you owe us nothing.

Glad to see these still posted to youtube, Meg. i've missed your Expanse reactions. Great laugh at Burn Gorman's meta line about having "that kind of face." Ha! Someone on the show had too much fun writing that line of dialogue.

Love to see this. Really hope you stick with it, as season 5 is phenomenal and would love to see your reactions to it, but obviously you should do what’s best for you. A shame to hear that some commenters act like dicks; part of what makes your reactions enjoyable is how emphatic and opinionated (in a good way) you are. Also, FYI, the ship that was ‘attacking’ Earth that they shot down is separate from all the stuff going on with Murtry, Holden, et al. The reason Chrisjen was worried is because it had a resemblance to a colony ship the belters claimed was destroyed, which means that maybe it hadn’t actually been destroyed but rather stolen and repurposed to use against Earth.

I appreciate the humanity and empathy you bring to your Expanse reactions, I especially loved hearing your thoughts on Clarissa. I hope you will continue but I understand if you find it too difficult. I was very much looking forward to seeing your reaction to seasons 5 and 6, if you make them Patreon-only I will look for them there. Take care and sorry to hear that other folks are being unkind.

Please take your time and take care of yourself, but keep posting these if you can! Your Expanse reactions are legitimately top tier, maybe the best on KZbin for this show (and there's some genuinely great ones out there). Empathetic, insightful, and just a delight! Really looking forward to your takes on seasons 5 and 6, fingers crossed you record them (again, at whatever pace is healthy).

I don't know if you remember but I said that you were the funnest and funniest reactor ever! So it pains me to hear you're having trouble with some commenters. Why can't we disagree respectfully? I am an old guy who has lived in and traveled to various places around the world always looking deeply into the local cultures and getting to know the people through friends I have made, and so I look at everything very critically with an effort to find the complexity in everything. And that is what I truly appreciate about The Expanse. The Expanse always shows the complexity of life revealing the good, the bad, and the ugly across the board. You asked for us to let you know if there is something coming that could upset you. I don't want to spoil anything or discourage you from continuing because it it is truly the best sci-fi series ever created start to finish (I've seen it more times than I will admit and read the books through twice start to finish), but I will just suggest for you to take your time, like so many on here have encouraged you to do. It only gets more 'real' from here on out. I do have a recommendation for a sci-fi series of books. Have you (or anyone on here) read The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells? They are on the lighter, quick read side and for me were laugh out loud funny with some deeper themes and cultural commentary added to the mix. Has anyone on here read them? There's seven books and most are on Kindle Unlimited if you have that. I would really like to see a series come out but I think it might be too difficult to do it justice with all the internal monologue going on and I would hate to see it butchered. Anyway, for a break, you might give it a try. Cheers.

A heart rate monitor while watching The Expanse is a great idea, would love to see that on the screen 😂 I didn't know there'd been negativity coming your way and that really sucks. I'd be disappointed if you stopped reacting to the Expanse but take it all at your own pace! This should be enjoyable and not stressful. The Felcia moments from episode 5 also make me try to reabsorb tears pushing their way out. Incredible scenes and loved your reaction there. If there are murtry defenders stirring the comments just ignore them. Murtry is like a personification of inhumane corporate ruthlessness. There's some more reasoning behind him that will be revealed. (Not good reasons) Next few episodes will be verrrry claustrophobic 😅

One of my favourite Sci-fi shows of all time. The writers of Game of Thrones could learn a thing or two from this show. Something happens in every episode, every season was good, although it was a shame they had to rush season 6, it could have done with another 20 episodes, not just 6 or am I being greedy? I hope they bring this show back and have the original cast at the very least in some capacity.

Great to see you back, love your reactions. Thing to note, the shuttle that Murtry had turned into a bomb hasn't been used yet. The ship that Christian had to order destroyed had been the ship that Marco's had stolen and spaced everyone on back in episode 2. And I've had those "Murtry did noting wrong" conversation with others. For me it comes down to the conversation that Amos had with him where he says, "You have all the excuses that make you seem right..."

Murtry had explained to the (now deceased) commander of the Edward Israel that his job for RCE and other companies was to kick Belters off mineral resources the Belters had discovered for minimal payment...and to use force if necessary. RCE is not a scientific organization, it's a mining company like Exxon, and like Exxon, they do have scientists working for them. The Edward Israel shuttle could have landed anywhere, even on the opposite side of the planet. They chose to land on the Belters' pad because their intention was to remove the Belters..."bogarting" the Belter pad was the first gesture of their takeover. The Ganymede Belters saw them coming and knew what was up...this wasn't their first rodeo.

Very grateful to see this double-whammy reaction pop up today, and moreso after hearing your thoughts at the beginning! Toxic fandoms, or toxic elements of fandom suck donkey balls, that's for sure. I show up for your reactions because of the things you say and the feelings you share. Thank you. O and that line when Murtry says he just has that kinda face had me lmao bc its so true he does just have that face.

Love this show so much and seeing other people react to it. I think with Murtry, what makes us the audience more biased against him is that we get the full picture. Murtry is obviously NOT a good person. But it is easy to see, especially if you limit your perspective to just his, that he feels completely right in his views and seemingly tyrannical motivations and that theyre justified. Its brilliant writing. This show does suuuuch a good job with moral grey characters and some leaning more light and some leaning more dark. Murtry is clearly in the dark side of the spectrum even though he does have the ability to make some good points (and twisting a few to manipupate and fit his own narrative as well) its why hes such a good villain. Though cant forget that he does seem to get off on the power and the killing and being judge and executioner. Combined with a very desperate and afraid (rightfully so) group of people and then Holden trying to make it so more people dont have to die, so many conflicting feelings and no real solutions being apparent yet. This show feels more real in showing that very few people are ACTUALLY 100% good and that everyone is very flawed.

"Rights" are slippery things. It used to be fashionable to use the phrase "God-given rights", but the number of people practicing their religion keeps falling lower and lower, and fewer people will accept the idea that rights flow from an all-powerful deity having gifted them upon mankind. I prefer a less metaphysical description of the origin of a right. A "right" comes into existence when it is codified into law by legislation, court decision, or inclusion in a Constitution. They are not immutable over time. The same populace who enacted those laws or approved that Constitution can amend them to elimate a right. Governments typically claim all newly discovered land as their own. We don't see the boring legislative sessions, but it would appear the UN, or some tripartite board composed of Mars, the UN, and the newly organized Belt, claimed ownership of all 1,300+ world's on the other side of the many newly opened Rings. We have been shown that the governments have decided not to open them up for colonization, which shows control, which in turn implies a claim of the cnownership. If history is a good lesson, ownership will have been decided by auctions, with the proceeds going to the government, or the need to purchase a license of some sort to acquire the right to make even a partial claim to possession of one of the new planets. I'm not trying to argue one side or the other of the burgeoning dispute between Murtry's employer and the Belter refugees who arrived on Ilus first. My point is very limited. The Belters possess, IMHO, no "right" to claim ownership of Ilus. They have a flimsy argument for possesion and commencement of mining operations, based upon he idea "we were there first", but if, as I maintain, rights are created by governments, or, perhaps better said, by the people acting through their elected representatives, nobody had given the Belter settlers any right to claim ownership of Ilus. As much as most viewers may not like the idea, it is Murtry's employer who obtained rights to mine Ilus via application to the government. Of course, it is not only the Belter refugees who pay no attention to laws and, instead, rely upon force to get their own way, but Murtry, too, has greatly exceeded whatever legal rights his employer possessed on Ilus. Why, it's almost a replay of America's Wild West days, where might made right and law enforcement was spread too thin to do much about the violence. A claim of a "right" is actually just a plea to enact into law some provision which will greatly benefit the person claiming the existence of a "right". We have sympathy in real life for oppressed people seeking "their rights" because all too ofter the rich and the powerful have ridden roughshod over them and grossly exploited the poor and politically powerless. Of course, the large corporation which paid a huge sum at auction to obtain a legally enforceable claim on Ilus won't have any sympathy. They would be far more likely, IMHO, to hire some goons to make sure squatters aren't allowed to trespass on corporate property. Overall, season 4 is a good realization of Holden's prediction of a "blood-soaked gold rush"
@kirkdarling4120

In the series, it points out that the right to "New Terra" was determined by the UN and Mars without the consult of the OPA. Inasmuch as the three are supposedly in treaty, that strongly suggests chartering New Terra to RCE was in violation of that treaty. In that case, everything you said was irrelevant. Supposedly, _everyone_ has been restricted from exploring the Ring planets...but RCE manages to get a _sub rosa_ charter anyway...on the one planet that has been proven to have a valuable mineral resource. As Amos says, "..."You have all the excuses that make you seem right."
@Yesquire0
@Yesquire0 4 ай бұрын
@@kirkdarling4120 On the other hand, "we got here first" is not a valid claim of right, either. The Belters seemed to me to be asserting not just mining rights to a nice lithium ore deposit, but ownership of the entire planet. It's not as if the Belters discovered Ilus after lots of expensive exploration. Every ring gate had a habitable planet behind it. If we were to assume the triumvirate ceded the rights to Ilus to then new Belter government. that government would have then auctioned off the rights to Ilus, and poor refugees from Ganymede would not have won that auction.
@kirkdarling4120
@kirkdarling4120 4 ай бұрын
@@Yesquire0 And yet, the UN and Mars chartered rights to RCE...apparently giving _them_ the entire planet... _without_ the agreement of the OPA. The treaty had been abrogated...the RCE charter was illegal.
