Ruth, thank you so so much for sharing another wonderful birth story. I had my first child (my beautiful daughter Norah) in Dec 2017. I did a hynobirthing course, read books and really prepared myself for her birth. Your video about Jett's birth was an integral part of the preparation because I literally watched it about 6 times!!! You were so positive and I really got a sense of how empowering the whole experience was. I just thought, well if she can do it, then so can I! And I did :-) I had a very positive birthing experience - 6 hours, no intervention, no drugs, just purely relying on the power of breathing, and it was the most empowering, mind-blowing, tough but beautiful experience I have ever had. I'm now 33 weeks pregnant with our 2nd daughter and I'm back to you again!!!! :-) YOu're a vital part of my preparation again.... and it was so lovely to watch this video about your daughter Nova's birth. You are inspiring! Keep up the good work. Big love to you and your family xxx

Amazing story! Wow. I think you really highlight the importance of resting before labour is very established. Often we don't stress this to second time moms as much as first, but your story is a good example of how anyone can have a start and stoppy labour in the beginning and how important it is to not wake up and get too excited until things are very active. I tell this to all my patients (student MW). Also, just to clarify for anyone else who is wondering, the cord continues to pulse for about 30 seconds- 2 minutes, and 30% of the babies blood is in the placenta until this transfer occurs. Again, beautiful video!

Hey lovely! Ahh thanks for the info, I thought the cord pulsed for a lot longer than that! xxx

As you are a student midwife what's the protocol with a home birth? I'm down as a home birth and am due in 19 days and my midwife has told me nothing about what I'll need or what to do when I go into labour, any numbers to call. Nobody has done a home visit. But this is my 3rd and I will have my other children with me and could labour very quick hense why I want a home birth and I have nobody to look after my children to go to the hospital and always had horrible experiences in hospital where I was left in the waiting area for several hours while labouring.

I’m about halfway through my pregnancy with our first baby and watching both of your birth stories has been such a confidence builder for me! We’re doing hypnobirthing as well and it’s really great to hear other women’s stories on how their labor and births went. Thanks for sharing 💜

This is so interesting, 2 years ago I watched your video about your son's birth just before I gave birth to my son in October 2018. It encouraged me to have a wonderful unmedicated hospital birth! And now I am 38 weeks preparing for a home birth and I'm so glad to see this video about your daughters birth! I find that we think similarly so I'm grateful that you pinpointed the thought patterns that weren't helpful! Thanks for sharing!
