Why they named it C40? XC30 isn't more appropriate? C40 < XC40

I love the design of all new Volvos (and Polestar) as well as old Volvos. I have been driving V50 for 6 years and absolutely love that car. I like this C40, but I would love to see fully electric Volvo wagon with Tesla competing specs (range) and low price.
@Conceptcreator3 жыл бұрын
I want it! But in turn. The interior is far nicer on the other newer models. The dashboard just flow less well. It needs the xc90, xc60, s90 and so on one. That looks just far nicer. The rear lights are a huge fix!! Glad no full light bar because that looks horrible... The polestar 2 just isn't a good looking car... Porpotions look weird

If there’s one thing I’d love to see Volvo do is create an EV conversation, like what Jaguar did with the electric E-Type, for the 850, 240 and the 940. They’d obviously have to do better in the range department though.
@LordElpme2 жыл бұрын
I'm still salty that Volvo made a bunch of EV C30s to promote going EV to the press, but they didn't put them in production. Hoping the Renault 5 EV sells well, might make Volvo revisit the C30

You can say it a Million times, coupe SUV not only looks UGLY but worst of all the overall rear headroom is reduced . This reduction in rear headroom is not what we wanted buying an SUV. To get more rear headroom , they then reduce the seat height and hip height which is even more STUPID.

This coupé look maybe upgrade the range with this drop shape. For a Volvo it's less practical and it's sad to see them make that. But a (fastback) sedan or wagon is maybe better in term of aérodynamics and much more logical and practical, but it doesn't sell so much. They need to make money and re-use the technology across there lineup to do from high sales models to lower sales models like sedan, wagon, sportscar. Maybe we can see a Volvo compact car for the eu market, but it's lenght will be a problem for his range if they do that.

I think the c40 has a more defined front, looks sexier and a little more aggressive than the xc40 with no frame around the grill with a small update to the form of the headlights and the back is a tad sleeker as well. overall I think the c40 is the better looking car. but the xc40 is more practical and more spacious for the rear passengers.

Its nice looking, and Im sure a decent performer. I just expect it to have a big price tag. The Tesla Y SR+ will likely be a way better deal. But I do like the new design direction for volvo. I just would like to see someone actually make a nice small CUV thats 30K or so thats not Chevy with decent performance. I'd still like to see an Electric Car that decides to forego the frunk and make a really small nose as possible and embrace being an electric car. Tesla patents are still open source, yes, but their battery chemistry and manufacturing process is proprietary, the battery pack manufacturing process is proprietary, and very difficult to do (Tesla basically bought Grohman Engineering to redesign the automated pack production lines because the first design was a failure)...so other automakers like Volvo use prismatic or pouch battery cells instead of the cylinder cells Tesla uses. Tesla motors and inverters and cooling system and even software also contribute to the range advantage, and Tesla is not giving away all of their secrets, just their patents.

@davethepants3 жыл бұрын
@@Bembli I have a conspiracy theory about that. They might be understating the range gains vis a vis the XC40 in order to be able to sell the XC40 for the time being. If they stated 10+% more range, everyone interested in the XC40 might say "yeah I'll wait for the C40". XC40 really is one bulky dinosaur. It doesn't work as an electric platform. I'm interested in it for the form factor, but it uses too much juice just to push air.
