Considering everyone was saying Tears of the Kingdom was the Switch's swansong, it's nice to see that we've had (and are getting) Mario RPG, Paper Mario 2, Donkey Kong, that new Zelda, Metroid 4, Mario and Luigi, Luigi's Mansion 2, A new Mario party since that Tears came out. I know a lot of them are remakes and rereleases, but that's prob more exclusives that in the lifetime of Xbox and PS5.

Dragon Quest 3 is first in the order of the story of Dragon Quest 1, 2 and 3. The correct order for the story is actually 3, 1 and then 2. That's why 3 is coming out first. The director even talked about this during the Nintendo Direct.

@@LRM5195 I thnk the switch version overall looks great, Retro studios is squeezing out every ounce of what base Switch can do, 10 yr old hardware w/ Prime 4 and the game still looks as good as it does is more impressive than what we're getting on the other platforms w/ hardware that is that much more capable... I would have no problem playing that version at a stable 60fps but yeah the Switch 2 version will be incredible

100% agreed on Zelda. And credit to the devs for managing to capture the creativity of crafting in TotK and implement it in this game. They did Peach dirty, but Zelda gets a proper game. Overall, many of us allowed ourselves to hope for more, but in a transition period this was always going to be a hit and miss kind of Direct. I guess the frustrating thing is that MP4 is all but confirmed to be a Switch 2 launch title, so it helped them prop up this Direct but won't be here to "hold us over" as we wait for the next console. But then if it launches alongside a new 3D Mario game, it won't sell nearly as well. Oh well, I guess I will get to more of my backlog than I hoped.

Since these ports/remake titles are probably low-hanging fruits code-wise and guarantee decent sales numbers, if I were Nintendo, I'd only put them out under dire situations. So if they have secretly done those ports/remakes, they're probably just like "Hmm this lineup seems good enough to get me through these couple of months so I get to keep those cards once again". I mean, if we look back on this Direct, they have 2D Zelda for September, Mario & DQ3 for November, and Metroid in 2025 (hopefully it's Q1 so within this fiscal year). Probably enough to hang in there until the end of the fiscal year and also the announcement/reveal/launch of the new console. WW/TP port then could be used as a clutch time savior for the next console... Some of my friends are even speculating that Metroid Prime 4 could be a launching title on the new console as well like BotW was for the Switch. Not impossible I'd say, and if it can happen based on backward compatibility that'll be even better.

Shawn! Don't knock it till you tried it! Stray is a game made by a small group and PS picked em up because the game is unique and actually worth playing! I'm glad it is going to Switch because the developer gets even more exposure! - At least play it for a little while before you judge the book by its cover. I agree. I feel like he’s shoving his IRL experience on a game with excellent story telling. Like for example, I hate bugs, mainly the ones that are freaky looking, but when I play games like Bug Fable and Hollow Knight, I enjoy the gameplay content those games give out regardless of the characters being insects I dislike. So, there is zero tolerance of bringing in IRL experiences into gaming.

I thought it was a solid 9, though I go by how many games I would be interested playing shown and how much I want them and for this one I want to play the following a whole lot; Mario & Luigi Brothership, Legend of Zelda Echos of Wisdom, Ace Attorney Investigations Collections and Metroid Prime 4 and I am interested in trying Dragon Quest III HD2D. That’s a solid amount of games there imo and I all need to be hyped. Very solid imo

I am a massive Metroid fan but that trailer looked…Outdated? Underwhelming? Maybe I’m just desensitized by all the other amazing looking games out there but something just seemed off about it. Guess I’ll wait for next year’s (hopefully) more polished game play footage .

Nothing to go crazy about, but it was a solid direct to show good support for the calendar year… they only needed enough to have a solid year. Idk how they are gonna meet that 13 million switch sales by March 2025, but solid software sales will keep the stock price solid until the “switch 2” in March. The reveal is looking like September ahead of their next investor meeting.

For Dragon Quest HD-2D Remake... 3 come first as timeline wise it's before 2 & 3. So, it makes sense that the 3 came out first... Anyway, with a new Mario & Luigi game, new Zelda, DK remake (that I never played), a new Mario Party that looks very cool, Marvel VS Capcom Collection, DQ 1 & 2 + DQ 3, Fantasian, Nintendo World Championship and finally Metroid Prime 4!! I think it was an amazing Direct even more if you consider we are at the end of the Switch life! Beside having the Zelda Remasters, not sure what else could have been added to it. The big guns are now reserved for the launch of Switch 2.

So, personally, the Zelda reveal was my least favorite part. The toy Zelda design was fine for the Link's Awakening remake that was a dream, but why for a new game? Worse was the realization that they were going with the "player's toolbox" approach to gameplay found in BotW and TotK. I don't know about other people, but my desire for a 2D game was specifically to get away from that gameplay mechanic. I don't want to choose between stacking tables, stacking beds, stacking water blocks, or putting down a trampoline. I want a tightly-designed dungeon that you have to explore until you clear out the clever puzzles they've lade out for you. I don't even like this gameplay in 3D Zelda. And that's fine, I've made my peace with it and accepted I'm probably in the minority and Aonuma's comments a few months ago more or less cemented it. But really? For 2D? What is 2D for if not for retro?

Metroid Prime was the only game that was of ANY interest for me. As the big three go, Xbox destroyed both Nintendo and Sony, but Nintendo also made Sony's showing look abysmal, at best.
