I”m so sorry to hear about what you’re going through. They say divorce can be even more painful than the death of a loved one. I truly hope you get on a plane soon if you haven’t already. There are so many amazing things to see in this world. My husband visited around 50 countries as a solo traveler before we met, and he has the most amazing stories! There are so many adventures we can experience in this life. If you don’t have a passport yet try Hawaii for your first solo trip. I went with my family (before I was married), and while it wasn’t technically a solo trip, it might as well have been. My family is amazing, but they were there to relax. I was there to experience EVERYTHING. I’d get up at 5am and walk two miles to take surfing lessons while they were all asleep. I learned to Hulu, and was told by the instructor that she could tell I was a dancer. I am, but it was such a HUGE compliment coming from an amazing women sharing her culture with me. Now when I visit I let her know I’m coming, and we dance together. If you’re kind and respectful of their culture and the island the people welcome you with open arms, and you can find friends everywhere you go. Sorry to go on and on, but I really found myself there. I almost didn’t come home… but my mom convinced me to get on the plane. IDK… maybe you could find yourself too. And it might be a baby step to even bigger adventures abroad. Good luck to you, my friend. You’ve got this. I know that you only have amazing things ahead of you in this life, even though that may be difficult to see right now. God Bless.

My wife passed almost 2 years ago and I have been wanting to travel for most of my life but she never wanted to go anywhere. I'm not like Kris, I don't want to travel alone and I would never travel with strangers but this video makes me rethink the travelling alone aspect, because even if I can't share it with someone at the time I am experiencing it, I can still share it via a GoPro or a decent cell phone and some attachments. I don't have to force my family and friends to sit and watch "home movies" like we did when I was a kid, I can post them here or on FB and let whomever wants to see it, watch it or not. To be honest I think that a lot of Icelanders don't see our country as beautiful as it really is, and it just gets more and more breathtaking the farther you go away from Reykjavík! A lot of kids in Reykjavík judge the whole country and see it just as Reykjavík, when it's literally a whole different experience. I come from Iceland. I moved from there 13 years ago and been living abroad since then. I can so relate experiencing this through your eyes because whenever I go back I also feel like a tourist. I've gone to see all those places you were and experienced the northen lights and being bullied by mother nature. It's really something. Visiting Iceland is really a lottery. The weather dictates completely how you experience the country. You were there of course later in the year so it was cold but other than that you seriously got such a wide range of the nice type of Icelandic weather because most of the time its just gray, gloomy and raining and ALSO windy. You got bot the calm and the extreme winds but on clear sunny days. It makes the experience even more "authentic" in my opinion. I am glad you mentioned the cousine. I have traveled all over the world and I still think that generally Iceland has the best tasting food over all. Minus the fermented shark. By the way - you got many points in my book for even putting that thing even in your mouth. I have only eaten it once and I had to be pretty drunk to do it. Next time you go to Iceland, I would highly recommend renting a car, taking much longer time, maybe 2 weeks, and see the rest of the country. The nature changes drastically depending on where you are and it just gets more and more spectacular the further you go from Reykjavík. If you want pointers on what to see or do next time you go, I'd be happy to share with you some secrets. For example. Did you know there is another lagoon like the blue lagoon which is locally known as the green lagoon and there are even naturally formed caves with natural hot water at consistant 40-45 C in them spread throughout lava fields? Anyways hit me up if you want to learn more and if not, thanks for sharing your experience with us. I highly enjoyed it.
