Good to see you back. Family is the most important, they grow up too fast. Anyway, I noticed the eggs too, I knew what they where because I’ve seen them on my jalapeño plants. One thing that you can do is the water and soap test. Mix about 1 tbs of dish soap in a five gallon bucket with water. Pour the solution on one spot of the turf. Within a few seconds if you have army worms they’ll come up to the top of the turf. This helped me to confirm that I did have them. I’m still battling them. I think there were two waves of them this summer but I think most of them have moved on to another yard.

I have been hit TWICE this year unfortunately. Just areavated my lawn of 60,000 sq ft, over seeded with TTTF/KBG, and fertilized the first week of September. Everything was looking awesome until last week when I realized they were back. It’s frustrating for sure but trying my best to just deal with it along with prevention (Sevin granular application), watering, fertilizing, and proper mowing practices. First time EVER even hearing about them, of course in the middle of a renovation right? Sigh and move on I guess and like you said, chalk it up as a learning step.

@@BudgetLawns you’re welcome, I’m new to this level of lawn care and pay very close attention to the lawn every time I’m out there. See it’s a new build home on 2 acres and it was seeded (bare dirt) last September at an overseed rate, so it was thin. I knew I was going to aeravate and overseed this fall due to it being thin. It has come in nicely and I’m very pleased with the results, however the army worms came back unfortunately. I actually saw the eggs all over the cars door jam but it just didn’t register with me that those were a second hatch, lesson learned though. 60,000 sq ft is a lot to treat and work on, especially being non irrigated, but I bought a Big Sprinkler and have been watering it all in which has been game changing. I really hope that it recovers and bounces back. I still have a lot of work ahead of me to get it to where I’d like it. Thanks for the reply back and good luck with your new build home. Keep those videos coming as time allows and family comes first no doubt. Take care and thanks again.

@BudgetLawns3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. Thanks for the kind words and support. At this point in the season, I would really focus on getting an inch of water on the lawn per week, and mowing at least twice a week. May want to get one last fertilizer application down for the season as well. Just be sure not to go too heavy on nitrogen as you don't want to do that on bermuda right before fall. Finally, a pre-emergent should be applied pretty soon dependent on weather. Where I'm at, I usually do that around the third week of September. Hope this helps. Appreciate ya!

When I bought our new home the builder chose a sod that had patches different varieties of grass. I love the Bermuda but the others not so much. Should I or could I just use a round up of some sort and kill those unwanted varieties? Sod was planted in Mid July.
@BudgetLawns3 жыл бұрын
You need to identify what else is in there before spraying roundup. It’s likely weeds. Roundup will kill the Bermuda while killing weeds. You’d want to use a selective herbicide. Even still, the sod is still too young to spray for my liking. Id wait till next season but that’s just me.
