My little Poncho Adventure. 1967 Pontiac Bonneville Junkyard Find. This decent 67 Bonneville 4 door hit the yard recently and I decided to go have a look. She wasn't the most optioned one out there but she had a goodie or two. I also thought I'd show a little more of what the yard had to offer that day as well from a Buick Wildcat to a Jaguar XJR.

I have owned so many of these full size Pontiace from 67 through 69 that I lost count! Back in the 70's and early 80's when these were plentiful I used to buy these wrecked and if they were still drivable I would beat them some more before I pulled the engine out to put in place of a 326 or 350 in a blown up little old lady looking Firebird or Lemans! Add a set of duals and a posi. and they made good sleepers! Hub caps and narrow whitewalls with 326 or 350 emblems and guys would want to run me and then they would get pissed off when I beat them! I still have a 66 Bonneville convertible and a 68 Catalina 4 door sedan but they aren't junkers!

Yes it's a SAD ending but I Hope it means some more classics can be resto'd. And leaves me feeling sad because GM cars really had it going-on with the styling back then ! Aw come ON ! This Pontiac could have looked FANTASTIC ..if someone fell in love with it. And they'd certainly Need to. My friend had a '66 Parisienne many years ago, Same general look and very nice to see one, Thanks from Albion. (0ld name for Britain.) It still has so many parts too.

Good to see engine turns over. 28 years and luckily air cleaner stayed on and hood down ! 99 percent may need coolant passages cleaned maybe rusted or clogged with congealed coolant. The 061 head is the first open chamber head and does have the big 2.11 1.77 valves but pressed studs which should be pinned if putting a better valve spring during build. That engine will run well on 93 octane as long as kept cool 160/180.

Whoa Nelley, last on the road in 1993 and it's over for thee. Yes, that appears to be 1993. Yup, I think it will swap over, but will look a little goofy with a Pontiac wheel......... We got the VIN, we win: 2 for Pontiac, 62 for Bonneville, 39 for four door hardtop, 7 for 1967 model year, R for Arlington, TX assembly and the rest is the production sequence. 1967 Pontiac heads are the last year for the closed chamber design. Compression ratio was about 10.5:1 and it had about 325 gross HP and about 445 ft-lb of torque. The use of premium fuel was required. We got the tag, we can brag: 04A for the first week of April 1967 production, 67 for 1967 model year, 26239 for four door Bonneville hardtop, BT for Arlington, TX assembly, 551 for black vinyl interior trim, G for Signet Gold exterior paint, 2 for black vinyl top, C60 for factory installed AC, M40 for three speed automatic transmission (THM400) and I can't read the first code next to the AC, but it might be another "C" code to denote the vinyl top. Instead of "Will It Run?" it is now "Will It Spin?" The amazing thing is that the 400 in my '79 Trans Am will have parts that will interchange with that 1967 400 and vice versa. That's the beauty of old school GM. If it worked, they kept it, part numbers and all. Yup, we saw the 'Cat before and I'm suprised that it's not already flat.... Whoa Nelley, I just got back from visiting my sister in Charlotte, NC for the holidays and we did some interesting things. I went to an interactive Van Gogh exhibit in the old Charlotte, NC Ford factory which closed around 1955 but still has the wooden brick floor. Rite Aid owned it for a time as well. I also went to the NASCAR Hall of Fame and drive the simulators as well as did a pit crew simulation. I'm not a racing fan, but it was a very well-done exhibit and I encourage anyone to go if you're into racing. I came back home to about 30 something degree temperature and needing to fire up my snow blower for the weekend as we are predicted to get some snow here. Fired up the 1988 Toro CCR2000E that I fixed for $8 in parts and I'll either use the 1994 Craftsman 5/22 or the 2005 Craftsman 9/28 depending on what we get. Both were also freebies and run like new with a little TLC done by me. About 360 HP and 475 ft-lb of torque on that 430 V8. Yup, I got the VIN, we win: 3GC for Mexico made Chevrolet truck, C for 4,001 to 5,000# Gross Vehicle Weight Rating with hydraulic brakes, W for El Camino, 80 for sedan/pickup delivery body, Z for 4.3 V6 with throttle body injection, can't make out the check digit, then G for the 1986 model year, then S for Ramos Arizpe, Mexico assembly and the rest is the production sequence. All El Camino and GMC Caballero models were made in Mexico starting with the 1985 model year. Possible code 29 Dark Blue exterior paint. White Firebird: no tag, can't brag. I would have been able to figure out most of it from that. Yes, LSC which stood for "Luxury Sport Coupe". Basically a gentleman's luxury Mustang LX/GT 5.0. 1992 Lincoln Mark VII LSC, with the VIN for the win: 1LN for US made Lincoln passenger car, C for air bags and active belts, M for Lincoln/Mercury make, 93 for LSC two door coupe, E for 5.0L HO V8 with multiport fuel injection, 7 is a check digit, N for the 1992 model year, Y for Wixom, MI assembly and the rest is the production sequence. It is code "YX" Titanium Frost exterior paint. The LSC's air suspension was total junk and it totaled out many of them with $1,000+ repair bills to make them right again. Firestone (who married into the Ford family) I believe supplier the air struts/bags for them originally. Later on, Arnott among other companies came out with "air bag eliminators" to get rid of that pesky suspension. My uncle had one that he bought new in 1988, when he traded in his 1981 Coupe DeVille for it. He never went back to an American car since that time. He's owned Lexus vehicles for the better part of 25 years. The XJR is a 2004 and was made in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham England and that facility still operates today. They were 4.2 supercharged and had about 400 HP and 408 ft-lb of torque. Yes they were "Ford inspired" since Jaguar was owned by Ford at the time. Whoa Nelley, a few cats are going to be flat. 4-0-0 and has a lot of get up and go. Poncho V8, they are great. LSC, it's over for thee. Firebird turned into a turd. Was new in '82, it's over for you. Going to be flat, and that's that. Lots of junk in the trunk. Elk Dog is as dead as a rotten log. The Bonneville will get squished and the Poncho Tin Indian faithful among us are very, very pissed.

Throughout your many other videos, that i’ve watched on your channel before, it’s the first time i see you pulling out an engine, out of a car, with a hoist! Lol. If I’m correct, that Pontiac Bonneville engine was very likely to be a 389 ci. motor. Thanks for sharing this with us. Have!a very Happy New Year 2020. Johnny, Montréal, Canada 🇨🇦

Good you got the stuff I would have pulled. Bonneville base engine is a 400, but the 428 was an option, have to check the code on the block to see which though. My Pontiac book says the standard 400 was 333 HP, codes WE WD XZ XY XH. There was a 350-hp 400 XZ XY XJ, and the 360-hp 428 WG WK XD Y2 YH YY YZ YT. I would imagine it's just the base 400 but you never know. I would yank the front drums on that Wildcat, tilt too, there are guys who will buy them just as cores. Tilt on the El Camino. Jag I'd research, I wonder if the supercharger would sell.

Four door or not, ANY Bonnie looks great if they're wearing their skirts... Throw a pair on her and cruise! Far as no AM/FM, back then, until the early 70s, not many people bought em with an AM/FM set... Because just about all you could get on FM was "talk" and nothing but pure "old lady music" like Classical and Elevator. But it's nice that it's got A/C and a 400... And the tilt column. I'd bet that it wouldn't take but maybe $5000 to get her up on her feet and looking really good... Even though she's filthy and looks like too much of a project.
