I’m 8 months pregnant with our first baby and we were in a pretty bad and very traumatizing car accident today. I spent all day in the emergency room having tests done and the baby monitored. Being able to come home and watch your video really helped comfort me after everything that happened. Lots of love to you and your family and sorry about the loss of your son. ❤

My goodness I have not had this since I was a child! The spread was called Sandwich Spread by Kraft. My Mother would buy the bologna in the long loaf. We had a grinder that turned by hand. Memories!

I admire Mamaw’s transparency and honesty about life. God brought her through that awful grief and has given her so much strength, I have a drug addict son whom has put us through years living in a nightmare. I feel that I can’t live long enough to get over everything we have endured by him. Terribly sorry for the loss of your son, this is a very sensitive life story and my admiration has grown even more. May God grant every family and mother serenity and strength that endures or ever had to endure the pain of a son or daughter lost to drugs.

So sorry for the loss of your son. My nephew lost his life to addiction. It’s a tragedy so many families experience. It’s so refreshing to see the relationship between you and your grandson. Reminds me of my dearly departed mother in law. She was a pioneer lady who raised 11 children on the farm through good times and bad. She was such a hard worker, an amazing cook and gardener, and prepared meals from her fresh vegetables for her family. She was also strong in her faith as you are and was thankful for her blessings. She also had a grandson named Corey who she adored. It’s so beautiful to see the relationship between you and your grandson and how you share your recipes and stories with him. The love in your home reaches your audience. Thanks!

I grew up on bologna salad & there was a little convenience store called Lawson’s in Columbus, Ohio that had a small deli in the back & they sold that stuff by the pounds, sold out everyday! Those were some of the best memories I have in this old 75 year mind. I have relatives from the Beckley area. My great grandparents were the Butchers. Also around the Parkersburg area. I remember the sandwich spread. We still have it in stores here. I think it’s just mostly mayo with the sweet relish and a bit of ketchup to make it pinkish. Our church ladies always made these baloney salad sandwiches for the midnight lunches at weddings and for funerals. Those and the canned asparagus with velveeta cheese sandwiches were always good.
