🙂I starting writing but was distracted but kept listening to Mamaw but I lost what I started writing🙃 I think 🤔 so I am doing my commit over. I love your recipes AND I DEARLY LOVE YOUR SWEET WAYS AND YOUR STORIES !! My mom taught us to take out the bones and some dark skin but your Salmon must have been very good quality because I didn’t see that much bones or old skin !! I get Salmon too but I am going to change my brand . So I appreciate the realization that my brand may not be as good as I thought. LIVE AND LEARN !! I enjoy you and your Honey sharing the “I LOVE YOU’s” to each other , younger folks need to know how love can last and be considerate and can endure!!! That’s just so precious to stay SWEETHEARTS !! Thank for you and Corey always signing off with God Bless to everyone too🥰! God bless you guys too!!!

Thank your mamaw for sharing that recipe. My late grandma raised me but she she was my mama by heart, that’s the recipe she used. Please ask your mamaw if she she knows how to make scrapple? Mama used to make apple sausage scrapple and we would eat it with syrup. Mama didn’t leave me the recipe. She doesn’t need to make it I would love the recipe. Please hug her for me since I haven’t been able to hug my mama since 1993.

I make scrapple with the broth from making a pork butt . Just add corn meal to the boiling broth then pour hot scrapple into a loaf pa rinsed with cold water and it won’t stick to the pan. Cool and refrigerate then slice for frying. Serve with syrup, Delicious!!

That's close to our recipe but in a blind taste test with many other recipes we tried, we picked my Wife's recipe & after testing decided it was her frying them in shortening or lard either one over any other oils that gave them a huge flavor boost.

My Mama drained the salmon took the big bones out like you did. Crunched up saltine crackers and added an egg or two to make the salmon cakes hold together a little pepper, made into cakes, pan fried. Love your way. If don't have eggs or saltines can still fix with a little flour. Fabulous! Thank you. Love your story sharing as you cook.

Yes, I would like to see your recipe for tea. My mom made salmon patties often. She drained the salmon and added chopped onion, egg, salt and pepper and flour. I have never cared for fish/seafood of any kind, but this was a fairly quick and easy meal for our family. My dad especially loved salmon patties, or fried fish. Corey, maybe you could put the p o box address on the about or community page here on YT, because people will be looking for that information. You could also put it under the video in the 'show more' section.

My Mama used both mackerel and salmon, but she liked salmon better because it usually had less bones. She made hers almost identical to yours and made a gravy from the grease with flour, milk, and black pepper to put over the patties and the mashed potatoes she always served with them. I remember when my Grandma first put "Goulash" on the table. I can't remember all that was in it, but it looked like Beefaroni!! We had never seen elbow macaroni pasta in hamburger before, lol. I know that tomatoes or tomato sauce was involved, lol. Edit Add: She boiled the Pasta, drained the water, then added the Pasta to the cooked Hamburger and simmered these with whatever else she had in her large cast iron skillet. She called this mixture Goulash, but Idk if it's considered real "Goulash" or not, so I'll be looking forward to watching Corey & Mamaw's upcoming video and learning something new, or old, that I have forgotten!!

I make mine with a little flour, corn meal, bell pepper garlic powder. We always had canned milk --1can milk to 1 and 1/2can water with cereal. It's delicious ly different.Thank You for these great recipes, real cooking.God Bless You Tubes(you Tubers) "Mamaw" ❣️!

I just happened upon this channel a few days ago and I am loving it. Corey, you and your family are so down to earth and loving. My family originated from West Virginia and they all cooked like you do. I have been living in Maryland all my life but loved it when we went back to West Virginia to visit. Thank you for sharing your stories and your recipes. God bless you 😘

They are really good. That’s how I make mine only I use a dash of corn meal. I always remove the soft bone too. Crispy and crunchy but soft in middle, and easy to make. Love em’

Mamaw is an absolute delight. We use the mackarel as well but would also use the pink Salmon if mackerel wasn't available. Thank you so much cooking for us, and God bless you ❤

My mom made those for us when we were kids, I LOVED them! The only difference 😢was that my mom, and then I, later in life, used saltine crackers instead of flour and we also called them 😢mackerel patties. They were delicious!! We always had them with macaroni and cheese and spinach. That's how I made it for my kids when they were growing up to, The only exception that I made though were I did use salmon instead of mackerel sometimes and I never made them without the mac and cheese or spinach like my mom did occasionally. *Full disclosure, my kids never liked these so I always had to make something else to go with their mac and cheese and spinach (I usually had to make something other than spinach too!) Lol. 😃 Anyway, just wanted to share that little bit with you and to let you know that I really enjoy your videos!❤ I hope that you continue to do them for a very long time!!!

I'm 57 years old and these remind me both lunch and dinner growing up in the 70's. My mom made these pretty regular. As I'm allergic to fish, these were particularly fun for me because tuna and salmon were the exception to my allergy. I really enjoy your videos and stories. Thanks for sharing with us all. It really brings back memories. TimH

My Grandma made these quite often, the exact same way, except she added some diced onions. Oh boy are they good!! We had mostly Salmon Cakes, but Grandma also used Mackerel quite often. We would have them for Supper with French Fries, Fried Potato Slices or Fried Cornbread and a Vegetable or two.

It's so great to see the original family recipes. The ingredients are simple and they look delicious when done. Mamaw is so cute, cooking barefooted, so comfortable in her kitchen. I have some of my Mom's family recipes and I cook a lot like my mom too. Thanks for the video. Subscribed.
