Man your Mortal Kombat arcade looks amazing! What a great job you all did. The seven button layout is perfect, very versatile for sure. One day I would like to build a nice cabinet. Awesome! That’s the best way to go imo for a mame cab if you have the space and ya mk1 is also one of the main ones that got me into arcades too and I’m sure a lot of people so it makes sense to use that for the theme. One question: and I ask because I’m probably gonna use my arcade1up and buy a real coin door: what did the monitor cga adapter have to do with the coin door buttons? I wanted to use a monitor and the standard encoders is that possible?
@KillerArcadeGames3 ай бұрын
The JPAC adapter uses the JAMMA harness so the coin door buttons work automatically because they're wired to the JAMMA harness. It's a pretty nice and simple design, if I had started off using the JPAC I'd have just used that for everything. But the IPAC is handling the game's controls for now and the JPAC converts the video and runs the coin door stuff. You can use the regular USB encoders if you want they just won't convert the video.

Was there any artwork under the paint? you might have been able to use something like citristrip to remove the paint. Sometimes the paint even helps preserve the vinyl artwork so it looks nice and bright after you remove the paint.
@KillerArcadeGames3 ай бұрын
I did strip a small section but the art didn't look great under there so I stopped. I really wanted it to look like an MK1. We did sand it but I think it's possible most of the art is still intact underneath so someone could potentially expose it at a later date if I ever sell it.

I've always been curious as to why you have so many MK and Killer Instinct games but nothing like, say, Street Fighter. Is it just a case of not growing up with the more Japanese titles?
@KillerArcadeGames3 ай бұрын
My local arcade had some Japanese fighters but it really highlighted the big American Midway cabinets. They would have multiples of the popular MK games. I remember them having 3 MK 1 machines when they came out. I always was more attracted to the American fighting games and maybe that’s why.

Excuse my english, I ony speak spanish. ¿Exit button? You have a j-pack, right? What is that button doing? It is a Test button? or it is just a Esc button? If it is a Esc button, you dont need it. You just need to config, in MAme - General, a combination of buttons that work like Escape button. In my machine, I had Player 1 + Player 2. In J-pac if you hit Right and enter (wich in my machine is 1Plyer button) is like you hit Tab, so, you can open Mame menu directly, and there you have not only config, plus Test mode. In J-pac down +1Player is Pause (wich is very handy when your playing and have to pause for any reason, like your reading a comment in your streaming). Up+1Player open +/- volume. And thats are likely the most used (in my expirerience) shortcuts that J-pac allow. So, truly I think that you can do a lot more without need of that extra button that can be hit with your knee, using more of that J-pac that you have.
@gerarsot56003 ай бұрын
By the way, this intended to be a friendly comment... but as I said, I dont speak english so, I can not measure how my words sound or are read. So, grettings.
@KillerArcadeGames3 ай бұрын
The coin door button is an exit button, I know I could have done a combination of buttons to exit but I wanted it to be really easy in case I have guests over. They'll never remember the button combination to exit. I do like the idea of setting up a pause command though. I really haven't tried a lot of the features the JPAC has yet so maybe I'll look into it. Thanks for letting me know!
@gerarsot56003 ай бұрын
@@KillerArcadeGames I think some shome shortcuts come by default on J-pac (years since I configured mine, so I don't remember exactly). I recomend that, firts of all, reconice wich button is "enter" in your case (have to think that what Jpac do is act like your Cpo and buttons are your keyboard buttons), and then try some easy.commands, like down+enter (at once), up+enter left+enter and so. My guess is that your Jpac have some.default configuration and.will not.need much more work.
