Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention! As a Dad, this gave me a great opportunity to discuss this with my tween daughter. It goes a long way towards normalizing what are simply human issues. I was going to buy a knock off but after hearing from the founder, I'm fine supporting such a meaningful company and I'm glad REI is too. THANK YOU REI for addressing such real world issues! I love my Kula Cloth, especially in conjunction with my pStyle! Funny story: the first time I used them on a backpacking trip, my then-15yo son was along on the trip. I was SO EXCITED that all I had to do was to step away from the trail - not the usual "take off my pack, look for a big enough bush to hide behind" song and dance that I was squealing with joy and exclaiming "I'M WRITING MY NAME!" My teenaged son was SO embarrassed! :D

I'm not a Kula user (I use a handkerchief I cut in half to dab dry after a quick splash of water), but I have sooooo much respect for her and how she's approached and maintains this company. Especially how she supports artists and causes. Definitely a respectable company.

So I've been nervous about how hygienic these cloths actually are. I'm also a nerd, lol, so I looked into more of the science of the antimicrobial fabric they use and it's awesome! They use Silvadur(tm) which essentially uses silver ions to bind to the bacteria to keep it from functioning! So this really is a hygienic option. Looking forward to trying one of these out!! Thanks for making a video about this!

I've been using a pee cloth for awhile on bike packing and agree that I feel much cleaner. During, the pandemic toilet paper shortage I started doing it at home too because it does make me feel cleaner and it's easier, just use a wash cloth, throw in the wash as needed and get a new one out. Just hang it in a special place so it doesn't get mixed up and I rinse it out between uses. Definitely like the Kula cloth concept, might buy a couple for home and for travel. How long do the antimicrobial properties work?

I watched this video a while ago and was skeptical like some are. But I Bought my Kula recently when they had a buy one get one free sale. I also bought the knock off from amazon before this out of genuine curiosity. They are not as cute and they are not as absorbent. Like a noticeable difference in dryness/comfort. Buy a Kula, the extra money to feel more dry AND have so many cute print options and support the original maker is worth every penny. I can’t believe I love this product as much as I do haha. Ohhh and SUPER easy to handwash with dr bronners. This was a game changer for me.

Good idea, but I am a Norwex fan and use Norwex for wiping our baby's butt and poop with a small Norwex body cloth very similar in size and cost to these, then simply rinse out with water, rubbing the cloth against itself to clean it and ready to be used again all week. I didn't hear you say you can use these for poop, only that they are pee cloths. You also didn't mention if you rinse them right away after wiping yourself or how to be able to use it again on the same hike if you need to use it again. Also, in my opinion they don't look like they feel soft or gentle like the Norwex cloths. You don't need to worry about touching the back side of the Norwex cloth as it is embedded in silver and nullifies the bacteria and proteins. I also feel the designs are abrasive looking to be wiping your gentle areas down there. Why not a leaf or rose petals or water or clouds? If I had a yoni I'd prefer those over rugged mountains, trees and branches or unicorn horns. The space one is nice. But in all reality, it's for cleaning pee and poo and a simple plain gray Norwex Body Cloth does the trick! Can be hung on a small carabeaner as well! I started using Norwex when I lived off grid and wanted to stop using dish soaps and other cleaners and detergents so I could save the gray water for our plants. These Kula cloths are cool, but I think they are trying to mimmick what Norwex has been doing for decades already. Let me know if you'd like a link to try it out. 2 yr warranty too!!!

Same, I'm on the fence about buying one. What's stopping me is hygiene and cleaning it. Wish there would be some studies on the subject and that Kula themselves would be more detailed and nitty gritty in their FAQ. I’m afraid I don’t get it. I don’t relish the thought of carrying a smelly, urine-soaked piece of cloth around on the outside of my backpack. At the least, it would have to be washed frequently. I do appreciate the effort regarding leaving no trace, but I just don’t think it’s something I would ever use.
@Alex-lb9xd4 жыл бұрын
That was my first thought too, but I think it's taking from the original idea of a pee cloth that you hang on the outside of your pack to sanitize in the sun. Since urine is technically sterile, I think the sun probably does a pretty good job of keeping it unsmelly. That and you're supposed to wash every few days. I don't personally have one, but have been looking into getting one!
