@@justice7788 Umm first gameboy was 30+ years ago, that dosen't make the switch great today just because it's bright. No messaging, no folders, friendcodes, mostly poorly ported iphone games, poor navigation in the eshop, joycon drift. It just goes on and on. Nintendo games - mostly great! But the console itself is very poor compared to what should be the standard in 2019. There is a lot of room for improvement for the next generation nintendo console which can't come soon enough.

@@axogreen876 Yeah the difficulty levels aren't very well balanced. I also did my first playtrough on hard and found it mostly easy, so I switch to Maddening for the next one... And yeah there's a real gap between the two modes. It's not too bad at the beggining but it get seriously brutal later, especially after after reaching part two. Doing a full blind playthrough on that difficulty is a real challenge, good luck with that.
@Jordan3DS
@Jordan3DS 5 жыл бұрын
@Weston Meyer Well, you can, it just takes three and a half playthroughs to experience all of the stories. The thing is that there are basically no unique maps on each route, so I feel like you could comfortably beat one path and look up the others without missing anything. I beat all of the routes because I was expecting more unique content on each route, but it's really not worth it when it can take 40 hours for one playthrough.
@Jordan3DS
@Jordan3DS 5 жыл бұрын
@Weston Meyer Well yeah, but that's like any other FE game. I've never felt that grinding hundreds of hours of playthroughs just to get supports counts towards 100%. It's unnecessary and you're barely getting anything out of it, you might as well just google it. Your reward for getting all of the S support endings is just a really poorly drawn image of the character anyway, so it's not like the minuscule "reward" is even worth anything in the first place. Hell, even if you got an ultimate map for doing all of the supports, I still don't think it'd be worth it.
@Jordan3DS
@Jordan3DS 5 жыл бұрын
@Weston Meyer I suppose, although I don't know if I'd ever be able to handle that many playthroughs of an RPG, even with years in-between xD The only games I try to do a yearly playthrough of are Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, since they can both be beaten in around 7 or 8 hours and they're a blast from start to finish!
@Jordan3DS
@Jordan3DS 5 жыл бұрын
@Weston Meyer I dunno about that, each of my playthroughs after the first relied on auto-battling for most of them, and it still took a while. It took 130 hours overall for all four routes, and that includes using the same save for both Black Lion routes to skip the first generation. I suppose if you really rushed it you might be able to beat the game in a day, but it would require playing on Normal, skipping almost all grinding, and never doing anything around the school. I did every sidequest on all of the routes and spent a lot of time doing all of the daily tasks, so now that I think about it, you're probably right.

I liked XC2 well enough, but it was really disappointing to me, especially compared to the masterpiece that is XC1. My main issues are that the character designs and story are too generically anime and poorly done, the gameplay is unfinished, and the areas don't feel as well designed as the first game. I think it's still impressive for the fact that the game had a small team of nobodies (since the main Monolith devs were helping with BOTW), and it was forced to be rushed for a Holiday 2017 release by Nintendo, but despite all that, it isn't a the flaming mess you'd expect it to be. It's deeply flawed, but Torna the Golden Country shows what the game could have been like if it had more dev time and resources (for example, the gameplay system is much better designed).
@brandinsaurusrex
@brandinsaurusrex 5 жыл бұрын
Jordan3D I can respect your complaints, though I do not share them. I too loved Xenoblade Chronicles 1 but as much as I tried, I could not get into Xenoblade Chronicles X. After X, I had little hope for the franchise. Partially because of this, Xeno 2 blew me away. I personally loved the character designs, the combat, and the aesthetic of the game’s world. It’s because of Xenoblade 1 and 2, that I no longer call Metroid Prime my favorite game franchise.
@Jordan3DS
@Jordan3DS 5 жыл бұрын
@@brandinsaurusrex Brandonsaurus64 I thought X was alright, but the gameplay system just wasn't very good. It was fun to explore the world, but the combat itself was a far cry from the perfect system that the first game employed. Plus it had a very strange sense of identity with half anime/half realistic character designs, a vocal filled OST with some hip hop vibes, and a bizarre science fiction setting. I was willing to overlook its flaws more because it was a spinoff, but I was really looking forward to XC2, leading it to be more disappointing for me. For XC2, I felt like the flow of combat was completely off. Your character moved slow as molasses, which is a problem in a game where you're expected to both dodge and deal attacks based on positioning. Then you have the healing system with the potions, which is made even more obnoxious by the slow battle speed. It would have been much better if healing was just healing, not "dealing damage makes a magic healing potion come out that you need to run over and grab". Then you have the blade system, which creates all sorts of issues. To improve your blade you need to fill out your affinity chart, but unlike the first game, you can't just play the game and expect it to fill out. To improve your blade, you're always going to have to go out of your way to fill in a node, whether it be teleporting back to an area to defeat the required enemies or using a specific skill a certain amount of times. The problem is that you're forced to do everything in order, so even if you've already completed the requirement for a later node, you still need to do it all over again once you finally unlock the ability to do it. It turns RPG progression into a literal chore, forcing you to ignore fun for the sake of checking off boxes. Then you have the mobile game elements with the gacha and the merc missions, both of which are very baffling inclusions. Blades could have been obtained through quests, facilitating a reason for exploration. Instead, you're forced to sit through summoning animations and grind cores for no good reason. The merc missions are also pretty painful, constantly taking your attention away from the game to fiddle with them, even though they don't give you anything worthwhile. It just kind of feels like the gameplay system of XC2 wasn't fully thought out or polished, but they didn't have time to make it better, and I say this as someone who 100%ed both the base game and Torna. Summoning blades isn't fun, leveling up blades isn't fun, and swapping blades in combat isn't fun. That's just my opinion, though, and I don't mean to say that you're love for the game is invalid, just that that's how I feel on things. Feel free to love whatever game you want!
@brandinsaurusrex
@brandinsaurusrex 5 жыл бұрын
Jordan3D I agree that the randomness to creating blades was not a great game systems at all. Other than that, I loved the other elements you pointed out. It’s all good, though. To each his/her own.

Great video johnny. Games that im addicted to on the switch is Yugioh legacy of the duelist( it uses the rules of the real life card game so im always trying defferent strategies and learning new things), deadcells(i havent beaten it yet but that doesnt matter because its so fun to jump into over and over again), and anything retro(i love playing the NES and SNES games but right now im playing the Disney Classic Games pack for Aladdin and the LionKing)

Without a doubt Mario Kart 8 and Breathe of the wild. I feel like once every 3-4 months I start up a new playthrough of breathe of the wild. Usually don’t get too far, maybe 10 hours but it’s just so nice to get back into that world and explore, and for me the opening 15/20 is the best when your more vulnerable and everything’s so new and unexplored. Just one of those games where even when you know what’s over the horizon...you still wanna go. Just incredible.

Johnny if you miss the arcade days watch High Score Girl. It’s a great anime set in the 90’s about kids in the arcade scene of the day. It’s in 3D, but it’s very very good, and surprisingly touching. Honestly the first 3 episodes are better than some entire series. Find it if you can and watch, you will not regret it.

Super Kirby Clash has me addicted, I play it every day to get more gem apples and level up. This game is FTP, but I don't feel cheated at all just being a freeloader, because it rewards you constantly for daily logins. This game is like the natural evolution of the one boss from Kirby Super Star's Great Cave Offensive where you fight RPG bosses, and I'm there for it, EVERY DAY. When the Megaman Zero/ZX collection comes out that will probably be my new answer.

Dragon quest builders 2 has more hours of my life in it than I'd like to admit. It's the freedom of building I think and the adorable character models and things to build and decorate with. I remade my childhood home in it and have started to build a dream estate mansion. So easy to play for long periods of time.

One game I can't recommend enough is Ori and the Blind Forest. It's a metroidvania with platforming reminiscent to Rayman Legends and Celeste. Its highly challenging and beautiful game with a great story thats almost entirely shown as opposed to told and it also has one of the best soundtracks that has graced this generation. Plus if the game sells well enough, maybe Moon Studios will port over the upcoming sequel.

I play all these games in small doses quite frequently: Sonic 1 ( Sega Ages), Wonderboy in Monster Land ( Sega Ages), Toki ( gorgeous remaster that nobody ever talks about), Steam World Dig 2, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, New Super Mario Wii U Deluxe ( I absolutely love it and keep coming back despite SMM2 being so much popular) , Super Mario Maker 2, 99 Vidas, The Messenger, Celeste, Yoshi Crafted World, Cuphead, and King of Fighters 94. My most played games in total hours are BOW, Dead Cells, and Mario Odyssey but I'm absolutely done with those and don't touch them anymore.

Mario Kart 8, Smash Brothers Ultimate are definitely two of mine as well. 3 more I find myself playing a lot are Dragon Ball Fighterz, Sonic Mania and Mario Maker 2. I'd say that's the 5 that no matter how much time goes by I find myself always picking back up. A few quick rounds of Fighterz and a level are two on Mania is always a nice way to kick back and kill a few minutes.

The Capcom Belt Action/Beat Em' Up Collection is a good one, it does not have a western physical release which is why I imported as well. You may have been thinking of the Namco Museum on Switch(also a fun collection with Splatterhouse, Rolling Thunder 1-2, etc), that did get one later. I only wish the Capcom collection had The Punisher, Alien vs. Predator, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, and the two D&D games although they were obviously left off because of licensing.
