I have suggestions to fully optimize. No corner seating. A straight 3 seater couch maximum. 2/3 room distance. Rears at 150 degrees. Side surrounds up to 100 degrees. Atmos 45 degrees elevation from ear level and you're sitting directly in the middle of all,4 of them. May end up on rear wall. This is why it's not great to have a use projector and center speaker. It becomes too low. Dark color walls etc. The setup is almost perfect!

Very impressive! How do you find the sound imaging as the doesn’t seem much separation on the bed layer and the Atmos speakers seem very far apart without using the tech to correct it? I know that is the point you are making, that you don’t have to have a dedicated cinema room to enjoy a great cinema experience, but you are using a lot of wizardry to do it lol. I did something similar in my living room installed a 7.1.4 setup with an LG77G2. I also put quite a bit of sound insulation in to the ceiling and party wall to help with keeping things quiet in the rest of the house. Overall I’m really pleased with it, though I had to make some compromises on certain speaker angles. My in ceiling speakers are approximately 30 degrees from the listening position, though I wish I had pushed the front ones out slightly to 35 degrees. It’s a modest setup by comparison, Denon X6700H, RSL C34E MKii in ceiling, CG23M (front LRC), CG3M side and rear surround and the Speedwoofer 10s MKii all which I had to import.

Straight up question: These speakers in comparison to Bowers & Wilkins Diamond series?
@Antibackgroundnoise Жыл бұрын
Before I came from a budget setup straight to a high-performance arcam avr20 with matching power amps setup, I auditioned and tested several mid-price AVRs. Mo matter which AVR I happen to be testing that same awful background signal noise was always present. That told me it had to be the cables that were the culprits. Didn't want to believe it at first but after doing some more research and coming to the realisation it's what their call RF interference what my ears were actually sensitive to. I had no option other than to take the punt and buy some shielded cables. So glad I did cos not only have I got a better sounding system with volume. I've also got a better sounding system with no volume. What I mean by that... there are occasions my room now sounds so quiet. Wthout me lifting my head up I'm actually unable differentiate whether my system switched off or if it's switched on. Really the room is that quiet. Cables, especially cables of length act as antennas for attracting RF. It can be anything from your neighbours Bluetooth, Wi-Fi smart devices to phone signals etc. Basically anything that's sending a signal is gonna make ones unshielded cables susceptible RF interference background signal noise. If one cares about a low noise floor I highly recommend buying shielded cables. The thing is when buying shielded cables you're not just buying the cables for it's shielding. You're actually buying proper speaker cables with quality conductors too. One knows when one's got proper cables. Not only will one be advised to run them directionally but one will also be advised to have them burnt in also.

filling a larger volume is where the DIY subs (18, 21 and 24 inch options) really save you money and sanity chasing that preferred deep response... miniDSPs included. With the amount of Flat Packs available now, compared to years ago, it's even easier... you can rent clamps and a nail gun from box stores. Remember that quote - "no replacement for displacement." Consider sub boxes that go horizontal behind seating or vertical in corners for the Wife Acceptance Factor (even behind your walls - if you have the ability)

Wow. You will certainly enjoy trinnov answer to Dirac Art - managing unwanted low frequencies- this will give you dedicated theater room experience. I see you have invested a lot - interesting to hear your comparison of trinnov to maestro - especially that the latter is no slouch either! Did the trinnov 3D placement correction make such big difference in your setup? Seems your in willing are like at 30 degrees and rear ones quite a bit closer. Having zappiti makes Panasonic Blu-ray kind of redundant though 😅. Does zappiti has same image processing as the Panasonic? If not this is what you could be missing out on especially when using projector which typically has very little to none. I would think getting big tv will be your next move - 98/97” would make a big difference over projector screen - but they need to come down in price.

I absolutely love that Arendal stuff. I want to buy some of the 1723 line stuff myself, but I can only power the floor standing cabinets w/ a convoluted bi-amping situation that includes four monoblocks. ...and even then, the 4 ohm nominal impedence is pushing it. My old school Marantz power amplifiers are meant to power 8 ohm speakers. While I have no doubt they can handle a 4 ohm load, I don't know if they can take the impedence drops BELOW 4 ohms that I'm sure come along w/ the Arendals. So, yeah. I spent about $4,000 on components and then discovered the speaker brand I want to support...and my electronic components aren't compatible with them. Quite a big problem to have in this hobby, huh???

This is a nice system and I’m sure it sounds good and I don’t want to sound negative but it’s a little unbalanced. You’ve splurged on an ultra high end £16K processor with fairly upper mid tier amps speakers and budget projector & crammed it all into a tiny living space. I just feel with the rest of the gear and room that the Trinnov while sounding better than your last processor isn’t reaching its potential. Your room is similar size to mine (I also ordered a Trinnov 16) and unfortunately I have to be close to an elderly parent so can’t move into a house with dedicated room yet so I’ve had to make do
@ThaVillaMan10 ай бұрын
That’s a pretty new take on my setup. That projector was far from budget. It was the best UST at the time. I'm not sure if you review avr's aswell villaman, but it'd be nice to hear a sony new es5000 or 7000 review, and especially their "Sony sound mapping" and see how it compares to the trinnov mapping. Also, can the trinnov map to any of the 3 formats, dolby, dts, auro. When streaming Netflix most content is probably atmos, so I assume it maps to atmos speaker layout rules and placement. But if you insert a dts mastered disc or a auro mastered disc/rip on your zappiti, does it map to that original sound format
@ThaVillaMan Жыл бұрын
I do review them, and Sony should be sending me one of their AVRs when it’s available. I’m curious about how their mapping feature compares too. The Trinnov maps your configured layout to the layout of the content you’re listening to. That’s one of the reasons it’s so game changing.

@ThaVillaMan Жыл бұрын
A good amp shouldn’t the sound characteristics of your speakers, and these don’t. Also I needed to power 11 total channels and had space for only 2 amps Here’s the upgrade video kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXXWiImhadOtnrs

Are your subwoofer output on your avr/processor independently controlled?
@ThaVillaMan Жыл бұрын
Yup, the Altitude 16 can control as many subwoofers as there are channels (20)

Funny all the people who say you can't call your setup a "Home Theater" unless it's a dedicated room with lots of seats and a popcorn machine. I'd like to show them a cover of a 2003 copy of Home Theater Magazine, because "home theater" grew out of TVs and beautiful speakers. Not speakers behind a screen, or equipment in a rack in another room. Home theater as a hobby grew out of setups that basically had a living room look. BUT, it still had to follow all the "rules", the layout must be symmetrical, speakers properly placed, acoustic treatments, complete light control, most up-to-date physical media etc. and usually in a tasteful looking room, not a black room packed with seats and no speakers on display. It just didn't "look" like what some now argue is the only "true" home theater: one that tries to mimic the aesthetics of a commercial cinema. I'm not against dedicated theaters, and I plan to build one in the future. I'm just pointing out that the modern home theater look with the risers, seats, popcorn machine etc. is actually pretty recent (vs the history of home theater). I get the argument and agree with it to a degree, but I don't think it's right to limit the term, because people who have been in the hobby 25+ years recognize that "home theater" evolved from a living room like setup, and that is what home theater was for decades, before better projectors came a long, and rear projection TVs disappeared. This is not to say no one did a dedicated theater back then, as they certainly did. But it was much less common, and not what was common in various magazines like Sound & Vision or Home Theater Magazine. It was generally setups with a TV that put the equipment on display that defined what Home Theater was for decades. It's like if 23 year old pro baseball players told their coach that he's not a true baseball player because he doesn't use an aluminum bat. You kids just got here, and now you're telling the old timers what their profession or hobby requires, to be "true"? Humans are considered to be apes by scientists, and this is like humans telling chimpanzees that they aren't true apes unless they can talk. "Bitch, you evolved from _ME!"_

Do you even need the UB9000 when you have the Zappiti media server?

Nope. Got it before the Zappiti

Used to have a dedicated room until divorce struck my life. Was built around Paradigm and Kenwood TXH separates. Two 12 subs for R and L channels and a 15 inches for LFE.

@@ThaVillaMan Hey thanks for the fast response. I just ordered some of the Arendal speakers. Everyone seems to like them so I figured I’d give them a go. And that Altitude 16 is on the horizon for me also!

best ht system i have ever seen was worth over 6 million dollars. that was like 10 years ago. his projector alone was 100,000 dollars. his screen was like 18 feet wide. and had 18, 18 inch subwoofers in cabinets which were 7 feet tall. and 4 tube amplifiers which made 2500 watts each, and cost 1 million dollars for all 4. couldn’t imagine what a movie would be like in that dudes place.
