My Paiste 505 Cymbal Setup Review

Wanted to show you guys the great sound of the Paiste 505 cymbals, as I have a full set of them.
Cymbals:
505 14" heavy hihat
505 18" crash
505 18" heavy crash
505 20" heavy crash
505 20" china
505 22" heavy ride
505 22" ride
Drums:
Tama Superstar birch
24", 13", 14", 18" & 14x6,5" snare

I read somewhere that the 505's were essentially 2002's made by lesser experienced workers in the Paiste Factory as a sort of training. Fantastic line of cymbals.

My first Paiste's were the 404's I dreamed about the 505's but couldn't afford them then. Hard to believe they were Semi-Pro secondary line. they are fantastic!!! Thank you for doing this.

Back in the 80s, I started out with 505s. When I saved up enough lawn cutting money I'd graduated to 2oo2s. What a disappointment... the 505s had far superior sound!

I've got a 16" Paiste 505 mixed in with my 2002 cymbals, an excellent compliment to the set, still Paiste smooth with a brighter tone, fantastic!

love the 505s, I was at a Will Kenedy drum clinic years ago and he played Paiste. Don't remember what model but he had a 505 china that I thought was so cool. Of coarse he loved it because it sounded so good. Rock on my friend!

Wow, the 505 18" Crash sounds very similar to my old 2000 18" Crash. The only cymbal comparable to it was the 2002 18" Crash, but something was still lacking. Now to hunt for a 505, since it appears most of the 2000 series crashes have been cracked.

Good Metal - drumming ! Paiste Heavy 3000 are interesting for you ..cause they more powerful-and clearer in the over-tones - Frequency ...but 3000-Paiste are damned rare ..

Thanks. There's 15" 505 heavy hats every now and then in the US Ebay, but the shipping is just too expensive to be worth it. They are extremely rare in Europe for some reason. I also have 2000 series 15" heavy hats, so I'm not going to pay a fortune for similar 505's. I use the 22" 505 regular ride sometimes, and it is really good for washy ride stuff, so I don't want to sell it. It's special. ;)

If I remember correctly, there's not EQ on the overheads. They sounded too good, that's propably why they were discontinued back in the day. ;)

There was a 505 14" China that I had years ago. Nice little cymbal, but was cracked and "repaired" upon arrival. The "repair" job was done with solder so it didn't last long.

that is absolutely correct. I'm 32 years behind the skins and even with proper swipe stroking my z customs during my death metal years I cracked or broke some. Always...ALWAYS swipe stroke your cymbal hits. left to right or right to left. hard or soft this should help the life of your investment. Rock until you puke!
