I’m finally, FINALLY, learning how to do that! I’ve never put myself first a day in my life. I realized I’m burnt out and honestly, may have been heading for a breakdown. Physically, emotionally and mentally exhausted. I’m still taking care of people and things I need to, but I have put myself on that list! Even if it’s just shutting the sound on my phone while I enjoy a cup of coffee. In peace and quiet. As women, we naturally put everything and everyone before ourselves. Take a few moments every day to recharge. Whatever that looks like for you. I love your advice Caroline. Everything you say is so spot on

You have a very good parenting style- giving guidance but letting your children make their own decisions so that they don’t become dependent on you to do so for them ❤

I’m going through exactly same motion in my life! Thankfully, I have a very understanding husband, but when we go to his home country, his mother, unfortunately, suffocates us and everyone else to the point we all run to different directions and then ask ourselves “what the hell happened?”. We were planning to move to his home country but put it on hold just because of this situation. I was wondering what Caroline would do with someone who completely ignores the boundaries no matter how many times u ask them to respect them?

You're correct. You are explaining NVC non violent communication by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg. No one likes to be demanded what to do....

Totally agree but things are more nuanced. Relationships and whatever one embarks on needs sticking through the difficult times. The difficulty is when to stick it our and when to say no, this is not for me. The difficulty with changing the exterior (partner, schools, taking a holiday, etc) is that one carries oneself wherever we go or whoever we are with. Like for example you will take a break, but for sure you will come back to you, to who you are, juggling one million things - perhaps you are someone that always takes on too much, and that will not change by changing hiusbands, countries, etc.

Why does one need to be uncomfortable to make the other person comfortable. Perfect statement.

The older I get the more self centered I have become. I do me and my husband does himself and it works. Of course we have WE time but each of us needs ME time. This makes a relationship stronger and happier. Don't worry about someone else's opinion and don't worry about how you are perceived- do what makes you happy! Happy Holidays!!! 😊❤️☺️🥰😍🦩☀️🌴🥥🥰❤️🥰❤️
