I bought this Portable Washing Machine over one year ago and this is my full and honest review! Do I still think buying this Black+Decker BPWM09W portable washing machine was a good decision? Is it still worth the money? Would I pick a different washer instead?

One more question for ya, thanks for your input on the comforter. I was curious if you noticed any marked difference or spike in the water bill?? I know electric wise it is energy efficient. Our water is included in rent ..but I’m more concerned with my landlord noticing a spike in the water bill from our unit. We have a clause in our lease about overusage...esp given the Cali droughts. I was hoping maybe it’ll be the equivalent same as filling the tub for a bath for 1-2 people daily or less ,so she isnt alarmed by a spike.

@SimmanGodz
@SimmanGodz 4 жыл бұрын
@@KlaudiaPlepi YOu'll have to calculate that yourselves. Water prices vary by region. Check the specification of the model you are looking at, multiply by how often you'd use it monthly, and you'll see how much it uses. Whether or not the Landlord will notice is completely dependent on how much they care. If they keep a log and check the bill, they might ask about it.
@MB-Music23

@Yvette Brand Yes this uses much less water than the ones at the laundromat I'd imagine. Sometimes leases arent clear..they will state dont bring any appliances, however, a microwave is also an appliance so I think it has more to do with not altering anything or causing disturbances. Like not replacing the oven with your own, etc. I had to ask mine to take the fridge out bec I had my own and their's was not up to par with my taste and cleanliness, so they took theirs out! In some buildings water is included, some it isnt. In mine it isnt but lease speaks of excessive usage. So far we have not had any problems since getting it. I dont take baths...I shower as does my family member, so I would think taking 2 baths a day also uses a lot of water. So I kind of think of it like my bf/ fiance he showers like 3 times a day at his place. So if his landlord isnt squawking about it, this is probably not much different. Now hoses and such that can be an issue if we are in a drought. I have heard if you use too much and there is a mandate across the county, then the power co may say something. Ive heard avg is a 10-20 dollar jump with this, so I figured, well lets just equate to if me and housemate each bathing twice a day if there is any problem that arises. The tub is half the size maybe less in the washer than a standard washer so it is probably using the same as the one in the bulding that doesnt work well, if we are doing multiple washes. I dont use that one, so my landlord isnt losing any more money than if I was using the building washer. I was concerned in the beginning but I have not had any issues thus far thankfully

We suck at saving water and should have been better a long time ago but now we take shorter showers or baths only for he kids,when brushing teeth,washing dishes,yard...that way there isn’t much of a difference on water bill.

@@KlaudiaPlepi I ended up getting it and she answered in another video. I have been doing it almost every day or at least 2-3 loads a week minimum if I’m really busy. Hello, I bought one a couple of months ago and I love it but lately there’s a clicking sound when it spins. I tilted the washer to see there was a metal adapter loose at the bottom. By chance when you did your unboxing, was there a piece I should have taken out?

This washer is amazing. I have the exact same model one but, mine is the Magic Chef. Mine has a white lid. I use mine in the kitchen and family members are amazed how well it cleans. I'll do about 4 loads then I'll toss in my dryer. Most items are nearly dry after the spin so I'll just hang dry around the house till dry. I bought the same washer for my son and girlfriend for Christmas. The hubby thought it was stupid gift only a mom would buy. Well, they were extremely happy. Honestly I was going to give them mine because I wanted to get a larger size. I got one on sale at home depot for $150.00 plus free delivery. Only downside is there isn't a fabric softener dispenser. You'll just need to purchase a downey ball. This is perfect for a busy person who doesn't have time to go to laundromat. You could wash a couple of loads by 10pm and I promise most clothing would be dry by morning. Make sure you set it for 9 minute spin dry.Just hang on a drying clothes rack.

That's a great-looking washer. It looks perfect for anyone in a small living space, especially if that space doesn't have washer hookups. I have a Magic Chef portable washer and I love it. I've been using mine for over a year and I've never had a problem with it. For anyone who likes the idea of a portable washer but would like a bigger tub, you should know that portable washers go all the way up to 3.0 cu. ft. That's what mine is. My 3.5 cu. ft. Panda dryer has been working well for over a year. By the way, thanks for posting info about replacement filters for it.

A quick drain tip: I found an amazing way to not have the drain hose leave the sink while draining the water: I made a hole in the (bottom center) of a 3 Liter plastic Ocean Spray (Cranberry drink) jug by using a tiny $3.99 torch lighter I got from my corner gas station! I now wish I would have gotten the larger $5.99 torch lighter to make it a much faster melting job! Oh well! Anyways, I used the end of a broken metal spatula handle to widen the hole until It was wide enough for my hose to fit! Took me about 20-30 minutes until I made a hole large enough to fold, squeeze and push the rubber hose into to make a water tight fit! Again, had I had a much larger torch lighter, it would've made quick work out of this task! Note: I took that plastic (hook) plastic piece off because I didn't need it. The hose stays attached to the jug and both go into the washer when done. Because the jug is shaped the way it is, I never have to worry about it jumping out of my sink. It collects and expels the water as it should and my kitchen floor now stays dry so I'm very happy!

Hi Julia, I love your little dog, Tortolino. ❤ He is so cute. 😘 Thank you for your videos. I just got this same washer and the Panda 2.6 cu ft dryer yesterday and am so happy. I have a question.Could you do a video showing how you disconnect the machine when you are done, and empty the water from the hoses and how you store the hoses? I just did it for the first time and it was a little cumbersome. Also, when unboxing the unit, I was surprised how much I had to lift the washer up from the foam bottom. I thought it was just a few inches. But the center part is like 5 or 6 inches high with this grey plastic piece in the center. Wondered if it was part of the machine, but no it wasn't. Also, how did you stop the leak from the faucet? Thanks again! Your videos are the best! I really appreciate them. 😁👍👏

Thankfully I have a double door utility closet with washer/dryer hookups and I'm hoping this will work well with what it's set up for. I bought a portable dryer too. I have been using those machines that tangle your clothes up into knots and that you have to babysit and then move clothes over to the spin side to remove the water, so I'm so happy to be moving up in the world. Thanks for a great video.

Thank you for this review update. I’m considering one of these for my husband’s work clothes. Sometimes his clothes are full of sawdust or grease and oil, depending on if he’s out in the shop or out getting firewood. I don’t want such things wrecking our big washing machine. So a small portable one might help conserve our big expensive one from clogging, used either as a prewash or as the main wash for his grungy clothes.

Trust and believe...your perfectly huge full sized machine CAN & WILL handle his grungy clothes like a CHAMP! His clothes will not harm nor damage your washer. Why spend more money when you don't have to? Isn't that what washers are for? To clean dirty grungy clothes! They are not pansy's by any stretch of the imagination. Just shake out the saw dust or whatever and toss them in. Let the machine do the job you paid for! :-)
@TinaThevarge
@TinaThevarge 4 жыл бұрын
Petty Patty he does shake them out, I still get a pile of sawdust, wood chips and rocks in the bottom of the machine, who knows how much are slowly gumming up the works. Aside from that, if he’s been mechanicing some of those oils and gas aren’t great in a septic system, so having a prerinse machine that can be out on the lawn near a plug-in would help. Your advice might work for someone on a public works water and waste system. But country houses with septic tanks have to be more careful or they can eventually damage their system.

The hoses shouldn't leak at all. That sounds like an issue I wouldn't want to deal with. But I do understand, sometimes we have to make it work. It would probably be a headache trying to contact the manufacturer for assistance. I believe it's a one year manufacturer warranty. I went ahead and purchased the extended warranty. But leaky hoses is a quality issue. They advise.against using any tape in the 2.0 model, not sure why. But that's in the manual guide. I don't know where I've been, though. I didn’t buy one from Amazon because I couldn’t find a well-reviewed one with an extended warranty, and some of them even said NO returns. And the brand names that seem to be popular on there aren’t really ones that I’ve ever heard of or had any other appliances from. All of that made me nervous. I hope this saves me money of both apartment building laundry fees AND paper towels!

Great Video! I have a portable washer/dryer one and on mines you add the water manually without hooking up any hose (Which to me is easier) so this one you HAVE to hook it up to the faucet? you can't add the water manually? So the spin cycle kinda like a dryer in a way? Sorry I just want to make sure before I invest in one

Thanks... Liked. Mine is a "Farberware" but basically operates same. In mine, During the spin cycle, at first, the "agitator" at the bottom spins much faster than the tub, causing the clothes to knot up on one side, unbalancing the load, and cancelling the spin cycle, usually... Does your agitator spin much more quickly at first in the spin cycle? I hadn't noticed this until more recently so maybe something is amiss? Thanks again...

Thank you so much for making this very helpful video. A quick question. Can we manually add water instead of using the hose? Would it still spin and do the washing or filling water through the hose kicks start the process? We have Brita filters on all of our tabs so I would need to remove them every time we use this hose for the machine. Thanks :)

Your laundry mat is cheap! Smallest unites we have are $4.50 to wash and the largest are $8, dryers give you 5 minutes per quarter. Everytime I go back it's more money. When I first started using the laundry mat it was something like 12 minutes per quarter. Also noticed the washing cycles keep getting shorter and shorter, now the wash only goes for 24 minutes...it's getting ridiculous.

Omg, what a great idea. My elderly mother is incontinent so we do lots of laundry. This would definitely save the wear and tear on the regular machine. TIP: Borax works wonders, to replace 80% of the laundry soap. Borax is a natural product, and has been used for baby clothes for many years. I use 80% borax & 20% HE detergent.

1. It's not advised to use hot water, but I did a few times and it was fine. I wouldn't risk it do it regularly, it's not necessary to use hot water to get your perfectly laundry clean. 2. I don't clean the washer. I only check on the lint filter to see if it's full and then I clean it up. The washer doesn't smell or looks dirty. I would say it's pretty low maintenance.

With all that soap suds in there you should do three rinses not one. Plus maybe you should clean the lint filter a little more often otherwise the one in the back on the bottom will clog up.

I don’t know if you are still reading the comments section, but I have a portable washer that looks like yours, but it’s branded as Midea 0.9 cu ft. Do you need to remove anything from the water inlet area? There is a blue thing with holes in it that I figured was supposed to stay in and open and close on it’s own as a valve but it won’t let water in, and I also cannot remove it. If yours is made the same way mine is, did you need to remove anything from the water inlet place in the machine?
