My grandfather's old Lee Enfield has always been my preferred ranch gun. Although the ammo isn't the easiest to come across in stores, I've found that my 174 grain hand loads are the way to go. However it's probably best to note that as far as large caliber bolt action rifles go, the only other one I have in my collection is an M91/30 mosin, and I think we all know which of the two is of higher quality. But that's a pretty damn nice rifle Alex, and a good use of it too. Thanks for the video.

I just got a Madsen M47 as my first high caliber gun for 500$ flat, and it's amazing, it has a small fraction of the recoil that most .308s and .30-06s that I've shot and the accuracy is a rival to most more modern firearms I shoot and it is much lighter and more reliable in my own opinion, and a very fun gun to shoot.

you mentioned norwegian standplass skyting (fireline shooting) then i just have to mention most shooters tend to go for SAUER rifles in 6.5x55. Because the recoil is manageable and it has a flat trajectory. If you ever want to go for that type of shooting, i also would recommend a 6.5x55. Rifle is more depending what fits the shooter :)

My car rifle at the moment is a modded Lee-Enfield 2A1. It was turned in to a carbine and has a shortened sporter-style wood stock. It is unsaveable, so I have considered putting a rail on the rear sight base and adding a micro red dot like a TRS-25, but I am most likely just going to replace it with an AR carbine, most likely someting along the lines of a Springfield Armory Saint.

@Charlie...in by far most states, YES. And, in by far, most states, if you have no criminal history you can get a license to carry a concealed handgun and several states do not even require a license to carry concealed. In most states, As long as you have never been convicted of a felony, you can own as many guns as you like. There are a few states who have restrictions, but I would never live in one.

@What is it's nature...In the USA there has been NO new Federal gun law(s) since 1994. In July, 1994 the Congress passed the "Assault Weapons Ban" that really didn't "ban" anything, most definitely not assault rifles. In November of that year, the Democrats who passed the law lost control of Congress for the first time in 40+ years. The "ban" expired in 2004 and has not been renewed. It won't be. There will be no new Federal gun laws "coming".

While I do not own a ranch, I own about 6 acres of land in the Southern California Mojave Desert. Coyotes, Mountain Lions, and Bobcats are all a very real threat to my dogs, chickens, and rabbits. As such, I usually patrol my property with a Winchester 94 in 30-30. A bit basic, I know. I grew up with the rifle though and I find it is light and handy enough for quick manipulation. If I don't want to carry a rifle around, I will typically throw my Colt 1991A1 into my holster and carry it or my Walther P22 in my pocket with a couple of spare mags on the opposite side. These aren't the most expensive choices, nor the most unique, but they are what I know and am comfortable using, are enough to kill or scare off most animals I'd encounter, and If you don't agree with my choice it's a good thing you aren't carrying my weapons.

In addition to a coyote rifle, I'd say it looks like a great rifle for the feral hogs that have become such a huge problem all over the American South. It might not be the best rifle for defending against two-legged predators, but since it still has it's full-length stocks it could still do the job well, especially considering you are accurate with it.

Stang Skyting (Stang shooting) Is not a long range sport, but rather a speed competition. And Skyting is pronounced more like sjuting. Never tryed it myself, or any other shooting competition. Except trap and jegersti, witch is more for hunting training than anything. I have a picture somewhere of a guy with a krag, and you can see two casings in the air at the same time.

Would you recommend this as a one and only gun for a while. I’m danish and I would like to have a danish produced gun, as my first. It’s quite expensive to get guns here in Denmark. And can’t find this anywhere in Denmark. I shot a lot, been in the army(and have family in Serbia, where i shot almost anything), but I’m getting my hunting license soon, and it’s going to my first private own gun, is it worth spending money on imports fee and taxes? The reason I can’t find it here, is that almost all of them was sold to Columbia and but in stock there, and after that spread out in the us and like. I’ll think it would cost me around 2000 us$

Question! : Madsen M47 over Mauser 98?
@bluejay3158 жыл бұрын
+Danilo Nakazone That's a tough question for me but I find myself choosing the Madsen. I'd love the K98k for it's sheer historicity, handsomeness, smooth reliability, and simplicity. but not many fires common rounds like the 7.62, and 30.06. Plus I'm not too fond of the prospect of dealing with a massive recoil as it fires the 8mm cartridge Unfortunately most of the cheap surplus cartridges are corrosive and while it still can be found...its sadly dwindling. The Madsen on the other hand is not as historic, not as handsome. nor is it Mauser smooth, and it's more complicated than it needs to be (Why did it's designers use a more complicated flag safety instead of the Mauser's and why didn't the same use the Krag Jorgessen bolt action instead of using a Mosin Nagant type bolt which uses a shorter bolt handle placed rather inconveniently forcing the user to move his hand forward?). Yet as bad as the Madsen is to me initially, it redeemed itself when it featured a peep sight which I much desire in any small arm; it's light weight and better yet has a built in muzzle break. Lastly the most important decisive factor for me in choosing the Madsen is that the ammunition for it is much more available the the 8 mm.
@danilonakazone3868 жыл бұрын
bluejay1611 So.. The Mauser 98 is better but for the Madsen is more pratical... Interesting ^^
