I was told by my doctor that SSRIs can lower the sodium levels.

God bless you. People need to not dump, drug & leave their loved ones in this state...too many of us had exactly this happen by abandonment by supposedly "loving" family...

A lot of those meds cause excessive dry mouth. And I mean excessive. I took care of someone who relayed this information to me. I always make it a point to listen to this individual because they are extremely sensitive to meds and they have to be careful. Listening to the patients can actually help lessen their symptoms and gives me a way better understanding of the schizophrenia and the side effects of meds.

Interesting. I have never heard of this condition. I worked as CNA years ago in nursing home so I do have some medical training. I find health care topics pretty interesting and even though I don’t work in health care anymore in some ways I still find it intresting in some ways. Thank you for making intresting and informative videos

I tell you Kathleen there are some exceptionally underrated (and absolutely underpaid!) CNAs out there. Thanks for all the hard work you did I'm sure your patients appreciated you :)

I’m a new grad RN and I just accepted a job offer in the psych ward at county facility. My nurse manager during the interview did mention that the environment can be dangerous and patients can be violent. Can you do a video on how to manage violent situations such as: - managing your emotions - self defense tactics - and whatever you think is important to know.

Thanks for this interesting video. It seems like the various drugs the patient was taking may have contributed to her low sodium levels. On a related note, I was interested to read this from Prof Daniel Bichet, writing in 2017: ‘The diagnosis of compulsive water drinking must be made with care and may represent our ignorance of yet undescribed pathophysiological mechanisms’. It does seem odd to me that people would complain of thirst and yet be drinking for psychological reasons. Perhaps something else is going on and time will tell.
