My Shop Space Doubled Overnight | What Can We Fit In Here Next?!

A government contractor who had been sharing our shop decided to move out, leaving behind an empty space. As I look around, I realize that this was an opportunity to transform the dumpster and junk removal business we have.
With this newfound space, I made the decision to bring all your skid steers, attachments, excavators, trucks, and trailers indoors. This was a game-changer for operations. No longer is our valuable equipment exposed to the elements, but they are now safely stored under one roof.
Not only does this provide protection from the unpredictable weather, but it also allows for better maintenance and organization. I can now easily access and locate the equipment needed for each job, saving you time and effort. mo more moving things around to get to other things.
Not only is the dream shop coming together, but the property as a whole is developing into something even more! With concrete going down soon and a storage building on its way, we are pouring equity into the property. This will allow us to leverage the space and even the equity itself to grow the business even more.
It's all slowly coming together. The hard work is paying off! Thanks for following the journey!

Add another drive through garage door and turn it into a rolling operation ;). Maintenence station, truck wash, greasing/lube oil changing station.

Don’t get to excited about using up all your shop space, it will happen quicker than you think. I bought a shop in 2020 and it was huge. Well I’m 2023 I was out of space and had to buy another shop. Ot will be full before you know it. 😮

Definitely wouldn't hurt to throw some shelving in there for some of your rental property maintenance stuff or if you catch like flooring or doors on sale for your next flip would be a good place to put it. And having a machines in there kind of suck because that's how people know you got them and that catches their eye. And I don't know if you looked into it or not but they have different setups to move them shipping containers they also have wheels that you can just throw right on the shipping container and you could actually pull it right up onto your flatbed or they have another contraption that you had wheels to it and then there's a tongue that goes on it and you just use that to move the shipping containers around. Kind of cool.
@rollingops
@rollingops 7 ай бұрын
Yea I've seen the wheels and will likely get a set because it would make it a breeze to drop off! I did think about the rental catching the eye and have been brain storming that a bit. We may just end up storing attachments and trailers inside. And maybe some of the smaller equipmemt as we get it! I also need to build a better digital presence for my equipment rentals and junk removal. Because dumpsters brings in 99% of my online traffic.

Maybe put a two post lift in there and rent it to a diesel mechanic. Sure would be handy when you need one.

have you looked into selling golf carts? I believe you can get them cheap when they come off lease with golf courses , might be a nice little business? your rental business could use a platform lift? dont mind me just talking out loud

We actually have 2 majooor golf cart places in town. They burn and turn them like crazy. I have a decent relationship with both owners, I've always liked the idea, but I think I'd hate myself if I got in their line of business. If that makes sense?

Not a good idea with the equipment attachments too much precious space taken either store the equipment attachments on top of the shipping containers or get large, heavy duty shelving to put inside the building

Hey Clayton, enjoyed the video, when are you revealing Trevor's role in Rolling Operations going forward, you foreshadowed it sometime back and we're probably all curious! Do you put tracking devices on your storage containers, because the one with just Maersk on it seems like that could disappear and how in the world would you ever find it? Also, how often do you check on your gear when it is spread out around town, dumpsters/tractors/storage containers etc? Thanks, Brian

I check on my stuff around town pretty regularly. Everything here is set up like a grid with a main drag through the center of town. So I tend to drive by everything I own every day. Kind of ideal
